Some ideas, but in the end of course it's up to you:
The skill level of the NPC's is not meant to be too high, to give my novice but basically trained fighter a chance. I was going to make it tough on him, but not through the skill of his opponent, just through nobody doing much damage, or having much idea of what they were doing beyond the basics.
Anyway I'll leave all that up to you, the woman I was going to bring in if the fight was too easy, if it was too hard, perhaps she could interfere in a way that doesn't help anyone. Anything else you want to throw in there, other predators, people, surprises etc, feel free.
I won't write too much gore, so if he does flat out win, i'd prefer a fade to black or we can cook up something more creative
