35th of Winter, 511AV
Afternoon

[Naar, Vynxia, Aila and the others hadn’t travelled far since ambushing the travellers at the Northern Pass. Initially the idea had been to travel back to Taloba however enroute they’d encountered another band of Myrians and the two parties had decided to camp together for mutual safety and the strength that numbers brought with it. Altogether when the two bands were added together there were almost a dozen Myrians. Vynxia had decided to converse with the leader of the other band, Aila did likewise with her kinsmen and the other two Myrians Naar travelled with handled their own business. Naar was left all alone but in all honesty he preferred it this way, the natural calm of solitude even within a camp and surrounded by others seemed to bring about a comforting effect on him, he couldn’t explain it but he liked the silence and not being expected to talk.]

[With everyone else busy Naar had moved to the edge of the camp the Myrians had made, found a tree and decided to practice on it. Wrapping his hands in some cloth first Naar would ensure that they were tight against his skin before he started training his breaths even and slow, his eyes focused as his mind went over the task at hand. Nothing strenuous just some basic punches and kicks so that his body stayed ready and his mind was always sharp. Naar hesitated before he began though feeling a dull ache from the wound on his side, he hadn’t cleaned it, it didn’t bleed but it was red around the edges and could have looked a lot better. Grunting once though Naar would ignore the warning signs and proceed to raise his arms, bending them at the elbows, as took a ready stance across from the tree and rose onto the balls of his feet slightly.]

[Punches were what Naar had decided to work on first and they were just a combination of basic jabs and straights the type of blows to keep an opponent at a distance and not too much damage unless they landed in continuous or rapid succession. Naar liked to use punches like these for just that purpose to keep his enemies at bay. Once he had done enough of those Naar would throw out a hook or two as well but from the way he did it anyone could tell he was more at home with the faster straight punches then the slower more powerful ones. Naar didn’t punch at a hundred percent either, he didn’t want to hurt his hands even though they were wrapped, he punched at roughly fifty to sixty percent of his actual power so that he could feel his fists impact the tree but that was all.]

[As Naar went on he noticed that he had begun to sweat somewhat and that his side was aching fully again. This wasn’t normal. Groaning he ignored his own discomfort though and told himself this was merely a test and that nothing was wrong. Were he a wiser man he may have heeded the warnings signs that true pain was imminent.]

[Next Naar focused on kicks though and like the punches he had done before them Naar only used half his actual power. The Warrior focused primarily on straight kicks, or push kicks, lifting his legs and pushing them out so that his heel and pad would connect with the torso of an opponent and push them away. Also sidekicks were a favourite of his. Naar would snap his leg out from left to right, or right to left, in low attacks that were meant to strike an opponent on the side of the knee or sometimes higher against their ribs. Kicks were more powerful than punches in this case and Naar was quite good at them and using them to set up attacks at a distance; he used them often in combat or, at least, always looked for openings where he could use them.]

[Around this time Naar was accosted by a serious pain that spread through his side like wildfire and moving his hands to his wound he covered it while taking a knee. Groaning once the Warrior knew that this was not right and that he was suffering because of some failure or oversight on his part. Now that the pain had cut through his side he knew it was time to stop. Exerting himself further would not be a boon to his condition and struggling back to his feet Naar would take deep breaths that only seemed to aggravate his wound further and cause his movements to become stiffened and laboured. In the back of his mind he was telling himself that this could not be but even he knew better.]

OOCJust a note. I didn't add this but consider the cloth that Naar used to wrap his hands with as being ripped away from his shirt seeing as how he never wears it.

[Northern Falyndar] Aggravated Injuries (solo)

[Naar managed to struggle back to his feet but the victory was short lived as he felt his side cry out and he moved forward to press a hand into the tree he had been practicing on so that he could support himself. Breathing slowly, he tried to breathe deeply but discovered that intensified his pain sharply, Naar would remain against the tree for awhile and collect himself after looking back over his shoulder to ensure that no one else was washing. No weakness would be tolerated at least not in the Warriors mind so it was better to keep all of this to himself. Anyone that knew his wound was hurting would certainly take advantage of the situation and Naar might become more of a burden than a boon.]

[Fate had different ideas though. While Naar was resting himself against the tree listening only to the laboured sounds of his own breath he heard footsteps behind him and his eyes narrowed thinking that someone had discovered his plight. Next he heard a voice telling him...”You don’t look so good Brother.”...and looking back Naar would see a Myrian, male, who looked like he was a mature adult standing there and observing him. Naar had looked back at the man and muttered...”Do not trouble yourself. Your eyes deceive you. I am fine.”...but the sound of his voice said different. Smiling widely the other Myrian said...”I think not. Let me look at it.”...and moved closer to take hold of Naar and help him down to the ground. Shrugging the man’s hands away Naar had spun to face him quickly and growled...”I am fine.”...before his body betrayed him again, the swift movement causing pain to fill his wound, and he fell back into the tree without any real strength.]

[No longer in any position to decline Naar would have let the man help him down into a sitting position next to the tree where he got a better look at him. The Myrian was definitely weathered from exposure to the elements and scars on his body seemed to indicate he had seen many battles but the way he dressed, feathers hanging from his hair, and that he carried no weapons save a long knife seemed to indicate he was not a warrior any longer. Naar knew that looks were deceiving though and that one man with a knife could kill many enemies if he was skilled in the art of warfare. “I am Uhn of the Twisting River tribe.”...the man would eventually tell Naar who was laying back against the tree and eyeing him suspiciously though the Warrior would eventually nod without giving his name in return as he rest back against the tree.]

[Noticing how Uhn looked at him made Naar somewhat uncomfortable but he said nothing. Observing the man instead Naar would save his strength. Uhn looked at Naar, noting the pain written across his features, before examining his body further and finally seeing the wound that had been delivered to his side. It was hard to miss the Black Eye that Naar was sporting as well but this was a secondary concern at most and Uhn barely seemed concern himself with it. Looking closely at the wound Uhn would have shook his head before glancing back up at Naar, disappointed and say quite pointedly...”Fool. You did not clean your wound and it has become infected.”...then he went back to examining the wound itself where he pressed fingers into it and caused Naar to hiss lowly.]

[After Uhn had examined the wound further he would look back up at Naar and tell him...”There will be some pain, that is inevitable now but perhaps I can help you. I will return.”...and then the man was on his feet and moving away. Naar had tried to reach for him, to grab hold of his arm, so that he could stop him but the man was too fast and before Naar knew what was happening he had moved away leaving Naar by the tree. Watching him leave Naar would see the man move back to the main group before fading from sight as he was left against the tree to contemplate what came next; the Warrior did not enjoy the thought of being in a weakened state even for a short time.]

[Uncertain how long he had been waiting Naar would eventually see Uhn returning to him in the distance with what looked like a satchel strung over his shoulder. No one who had seen him seemed to question and the Healer proceeded without fear of impediment. Uhn, as Naar had observed, may have been the oldest Myrian between the two groups which gave him a certain amount respect from his peers and Naar would simply resign to allow the man to help him as though he had no other choice.]

[Once Uhn had returned he knelt down again and began to examine the wound on Naar’s side a second time. The wound that Naar had received was shallow which was good as a deeper injury would have meant a more prominent infection and one that may have been potentially life threatening and not just painful and mildly disabling. Naar looked at Uhn as he sat there with his back to the tree and then to the satchel the Myrian had brought as though he was eyeing it suspiciously; the Warrior was not used to anyone coming to his aid but he supposed it was acceptable. The Warriors fought and the Healers healed as it were.]

[There was only silence between the two men as Naar remained against the tree and Uhn continued examining the wound. Uhn eventually pressed his fingers into it again causing Naar to grit his teeth and hiss. The movement had been unexpected but Naar would not complain as he had felt worse than this in his life and surely in some way all pain is a learning experience as one pain would lessen another when a man or woman felt again. Merely one school of thought on the subject. When Uhn had finished examining the wound on Naar he turned his attention towards his satchel.]

[Naar watched as Uhn opened the satchel and removed what looked like a wooden bowl and a grinder to match and then the Healer was looking inside the satchel again. “What are you doing?”...he would have eventually asked Uhn in a voice that bellowed his relief that the stinging pain from exerting the wound was beginning to pass. Glancing back at him Uhn only said...”Helping you Warrior so that the next time you take a wound you remember to clean it.”...then he was looking back into his satchel and reaching around with hands for items that Naar could not see. Watching him Naar then went silent again knowing it was better to watch rather than to talk seeing as how the Healer appeared to know what he was doing and Naar was in no position to decline.]

[Uhn had removed what looked like roots and plant leaves from his satchel that he put into the wooden bowl and began to grind. Naar didn’t recognize the plants but herbalism and medicine were not his forte so this should not be surprising. Instead Naar would stare at the bowl and watch as Uhn worked committing the motions and the appearance of the leaves and roots to memory before they became unrecognizable. Maybe in the future if Naar ever needed to he could find these ingredients himself so that he wouldn’t have to rely on others like now. Indeed it was a humbling experience though and while Naar was a warrior it gave him a new respect for those who had knowledge of medicine and the ability to heal over the talent to kill.]

[Altogether it took Uhn several minutes to mash the ingredients into a paste and when he was finished he looked up at Naar and then back to his wound so that he might be able to judge how much of the paste he should apply to it. Apparently Uhn had decided to apply a generous portion of the paste and taking it on his fingers he’d smear it across Naar’s wound causing the Warrior to groan again and suck in his breath. Gritting his teeth Naar did not protest though and when Uhn was finished he’d take a moderately sized leaf from his satchel and press it to the wound before telling Naar...”The leaf will adhere to the paste as long as you take no strenuous actions. Leave the paste and it should naturally fade over time as it works to help heal your wound.”...which sounded promising before Uhn added...”Though the paste will help heal your wound it will also likely leave a small scar afterwards.”...this didn’t sound so bad to Naar though as it would serve as a reminder in the future that he should clean whatever wounds he receives.]

[Now that the process had finished Naar would finally offer...”I am Naar of the Bloody Talons. You have my thanks.”...to which Uhn grinned at him a bit as though he knew well that he had Naar’s thanks and that the Warrior was in his debt in some way after this aid had been rendered. Uhn only nodded though before taking the rest of the paste and from the wooden bowl and wrapping it in another leaf before handing it to Naar and saying...”Another application if your wound requires it. Use it wisely.” Naar would only nod to the healer then after accepting the paste wrapped in a leaf as surely he wound remember to use it wisely if it was ever needed again.]

[Uhn gathered his things after he had treated Naar and moved back to the main camp where most of the other Myrians not on guard were. Leaving Naar behind the Warrior would watch as the Healer moved away quietly before glancing back down to the paste that had been wrapped in the leaf and deciding to keep it close. No telling how long the paste would last but Naar decided that if his wound did not require the second application he would keep it on his person just in case it was ever required again as the next time someone such as Uhn may not have been on hand to assist him. Leaning back against the tree awhile longer Naar would relax and allow the paste pressed to his wound to do its work awhile.]

[No telling how long Naar was actually leaning back against the tree but eventually, after what must have been several minutes, he would climb to his feet and move back to the camp where he could sit unnoticed in the background. It would be difficult to hide the leaf covering his wound so he didn’t even try but none of the other Myrians seemed to notice and those who likely did said nothing about it as everyone had seen the wound Naar received. The Warrior was not the first to be wounded in battle and at least he yet lived unlike his comrade who had died during the battle against the foreign now only a few days behind them.]

[Naar took a seat in the background and taking out his Bagh Nakh would fit it into the palm of his right hand before closing it around the weapon. The Warrior knew better than to train again today as Uhn had warned him not to partake in any seriously strenuous activities and let the past work for at least the remainder of this day but Naar could still do something to keep his mind occupied. Taking a piece of wood he’d drag the Bagh Nakh against it and watch how the claws of the weapon cut slowly and thoroughly as he whittled away the wood piece by piece. When nothing was left Naar would find another stick and continue to do likewise.]

[The Bagh Nakh was a small weapon to be sure but as Naar drew it across the length of wood he’d notice how deadly the claws were, though he already knew it, and admire how thoroughly they could slice and carve their mark into what they were pressed against. Using the Bagh Nakh always seemed to compliment the fighting style that Naar used as well which is why the two could act so well in tandem with one another. Making a few swipes with the Bagh Nakh while sitting Naar envisioned another application for the weapon too. If the claws were long enough he might be able to catch a small sword or bladed weapon between then and twist it out of his opponents grasp but he’d need a different kind of Bagh Nakh to do this and it was only a theory. The Warrior would want to practice it and refine his strategy before he actually used it against a real foe looking to kill him as mistakes would be final if they were made then.]

[Looking up Naar slid the Bagh Nakh back out of his hand and placed it back in its proper place before exhaling the breath. Not one to talk much as many knew Naar was content to sit in the background and observe and eventually he would close his eyes taking deep breaths to calm his mind as he looked inside himself to find a place of serenity. Meditation was not something he did often but he seemed to enjoy it on occasion as it lent an almost cleansing effect to his mind and helped him to think more clearly which was beneficial to him.]

[Nothing else truly interesting happened that day. Naar might converse briefly with Aila but that was all. The Myrians that he travelled with and the group that they had joined with would camp together tonight. Strength in numbers after all. In the morning both groups would go their separate ways with Naar and his band heading south into Falyndar and the others heading North towards the Northern Pass where Naar and the rest had just come from. Until they met again Naar could only wish good fortune and the blessings of both Dira and Myri on Uhn and the band he travelled with.]

[NPC]Uhn of the Twisting River (Medicine Man)

Notes :
A little less Unarmed Combat XP than if you actually used the skills against a live opponent, whether in real battle or practice spar. As a rule, practicing moves you already know would net you less XP, at least from me. I would also have awarded you the lores for the moves you used had you used them against an opponent, but since they're done only in practice and not applied for their actual use, you do not get them in this thread.

Also, lore-wise, the term 'Healer' may be misleading - a healer is one marked by Rak'Keli. Calling Uhn a medicine man or a field medic may be more appropriate.

In the last paragraph of the last post, I think you meant Taloba rather than Falyndar, as well.

PM me if you have questions.

Notice: I will not be available for modding in the foreseeable future until I've cleared up my backlog of Miz stuff (PC and ST-wise). Hopefully, it's a temporary thing, but we'll see. I will still grade your threads, however.
