Home of the Konti people, this ivory city is built of native konti stone half in and half out of the sea. Its borders touch the Silverwood, and stretch upwards towards Silver Lake, home of the infamous konti vision water. [Lore]

Karsh smiled briefly as he moved up the steps toward the entrance of the medical library. He couldn't help but smile, because for a moment, the image of him wedged in the small doorway flashed through his mind. But however funny it might have been, it was a fate Karsh wanted to avoid, so he stood upright as he approached the door. He managed to slip through with only a minor scrape against the door. Once inside, he relaxed and settled back down to all fours, moving through the stacks carefully.

Once he had a chance to really look around, he realized how truly large the library was, with dozens upon dozens of rows of shelves, each crammed with books on all types of medical procedures and plants. Might as well start somewhere he thought with a shrug, and plucked a book titled 'The Last Resort' off a shelf. It was quite fascinating, detailing all sorts of ways to bring someone back from the very brink of death, depending on their condition. Karsh wished he had brought a pen and ink, so that he could have copied some of this information down.

Perhaps they'll let me borrow it? he wondered hopefully, making his way towards the front desk, where a figure was standing.
"Hello. May I borrow this book? I promise to keep it in good condition and to return it in a few days."
Looking up from the book he had been studying up to this point, the man jumped slightly. Apparently he was unfamiliar with the Jamoura, because he seemed rather startled.
"I'm a-a-afraid not." He stammered "But perhaps something can be worked out, for a scholar of your dedication"
With this promise, he scurried away, presumably to talk to a superior. Content to wait for him to come back, Karsh leaned back and sat on the floor, deciding to avoid the flimsy looking chairs stationed near the desk.

Leafing quietly through the isles he worked his way around the chamber, reading the collection of titles as he went, though none stuck with him as they had in times past. Perhaps the lady of knowledge desired him elsewhere today instead of with his nose deep in the dusty parchment of the books, a place where he might gain a bit of wisdom to the current purpose he found himself saddled with. He was still yet a stranger on this soil, one with few contacts, and no exceptional qualities besides his general inquiring nature. This place was his to be in of that he was sure, but was he of greater use secluded among the tombs of old, or meeting those that had experienced life, had learned of its hardships, and could tell him of their exploits to the benefit of them both. His sigh had an air of reluctant finality about it as he pushed another book back into its place on the shelf and made way for the exit of the temple.

Words echoed ahead, and stepping from the racks of shelves he found himself faltering for a moment at the sight of such a creature in the hallowed halls of the building. Hand lowering to brush causally against the hilt of the sword belted at his hip, he took a cautious step forward towards the beast, and frowned as he noticed no one present to aid him with this present situation. Perhaps the beast had run them off?

"Easy there" He crooned at the animal, taking care to make his tone calm and reassuring as he knew it's simple mind wouldn't understand his words.

oocFaraluun has never met your particular race. This shall be interesting haha.

OOCHaha, this will be so much fun
Karsh looked up when he heard footsteps coming closer, but relaxed when he saw it was just another human. This one was slightly taller than many, and he carried a sword by his side, but that was nothing to worry about. The Konti preached peace on their island, and Karsh was sure the man wouldn't breach their trust.

Still though, the man made Karsh nervous. The way he stepped toward him, and the way he moved made it seem like he was preparing for an attack with every move. When the man spoke, gently and softly, Karsh bridled, taking a step back on all fours. Perhaps the man was insane? The Opal Temple wasn't all that far away, and it was possible that this man had gotten out of his restraints and had hidden in the library. In that case it was undoubtedly a good idea to get away from him and make for the door. Get healers in here to help the poor man and calm him down.

Best not to say anything he thought decisively Might just agitate him even further. I'll just wait for him to move away from the door, then make a break for it.

Regardless of this decision, as well as his knowledge that this man was probably harmless, Karsh took another step back, wary of the man and his obvious skill with the sword he wore.

His foot slid another hesitant pace along the ground, his bright teal eyes never leaving the massive creature now intently looking at him. He could scarcely believe that such a creature had gotten all the way here without causing the slightest bit of stir, but here it was looming just a few yards from him, it's huge stature and formidable muscles making it all the more intimidating. It was an animal the likes of which he had never seen before, and almost humanlike with intelligence in it's eyes though whether or not it could or could not reason was not a matter to ponder about now. Now was the time for him to prepare himself just in case the creature charged him, or to call a warning if it ran for an unseen exit.

Breathing in deeply he settled into his training, and splaying his fingers he readied himself for the creature, but footsteps coming from not too far away drew him away from his contemplations and caused him to grit his teeth in displeasure. "Keep back, some beast has wandered into the halls" He shouted in hopes that the unfortunate soul would hear him before blundering into the creature.

[Medical Library] A Monkey and an Angel (Faraluun)

Karsh moved back just as the man moved forward again. He was unnerved by how the man was looking at him. He seemed almost intelligent. But if he was then why would he act so strangely? There would be no reason to be afraid of another rational, calm being, would there? That would just be stupid. However, he did look afraid. Yes, the only reasonable explanation for the man's behavior was that he was an escaped mental patient and that, even now, he was living out some terrifying fantasy in his mind. Karsh almost felt bad for him, unable to function properly and live amongst other humans. Just as that thought flashed through his mind, Karsh heard footsteps in the hallway. Good, the clerk was returning. He could find the people supposed to be taking care of this man.

Suddenly though, a terrible thought struck Karsh. What if the entrance of the clerk made the man scared or angry and he struck out at one of them, or at himself? He had to warn the clerk! Aware that he might be about to be attacked by a lunatic with a sword, Karsh called out to the clerk "Keep back, some lunatic has wandered into the halls!". Karsh looked back at the man. He had spoken at exactly the same moment Karsh had, apparently also calling out to the clerk, so he had been unable to hear most of what was said, other than something about a beast?

And with that though, Karsh realized what had happened. He slapped his forehead with his hand and lumbered over toward the man before sticking out his hand and smiling. "Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am Karsh, a Jamoura. Who are you?" He mentally kicked himself for not realizing what had happened earlier. This had happened often enough in his first few days on the island, though the Konti had always spoken directly to him anyway, so it had never really been an issue. Still though, he should have known what this looked like to someone who didn't even know what a Kelvic was, let alone a Jamoura.

Bewildering goddess, the beast spoke. The action staggered him back a few paces, and ceased all thoughts of combat as he contented himself to stand there stunned staring at the creature before him, his mouth embarrassingly agape. He'd read hints about the creatures in the rare book, and head a few tales but he thought them something of a children's fantasy and not flesh and blood. Too meet one so suddenly, and so close was to something akin to having his world turned upside down, and his wits still lost he extended a shaky hand to be grabbed by the massive one of the beasts.

His eyes still wide, he managed to formulate a reply after a few more awkward moments. "A Ja.. Ja.. Jamoura? What manner of being are you?" He asked, his mind completely flown and beyond the question Karsh had asked in turn.
