The Storm In Zeltiva

We're quite a distance from the epicentre of the storm, but we're certainly going to still be feeling the effects for a long time to come.

The storm will cause damage across the city, most notably the collapse of the astronomy tower in the West Wing of the University, and subsequent collapse of the roof below. The Scholar's Asylum is severely damaged, and several dangerous mages escape into the city - with the potential to cause mass casualties and danger.

After two mysterious obelisks rise in the straight in Mathew's Bay, the displaced water is funnelled towards the city in a tidal wave. The wave itself destroys three of the small docking piers, and also damages the end of the Cerulean Pier. A large swathe of dead marine life washes up on the shore, with a pooling of wild djed causing bizarre occurrences with the tides.

Zeltiva's food rationing worsens even further. Due to the storm, imports from Syliras are closed off, and all constant movement of food into the city ceases. The lack of food causes outbreaks of trouble and rioting across the city.

The objects that rise in Mathew's Bay with the storm are large obelisks of obsidian black, and ivory white. They hum with potent magic, and loom over the city like twin phantoms from the past. They are definitely a dark omen for the future - and may be connected to the recent artefact theft in the University.

For weeks after, Zeltiva is in a state of chaos as worries over food intensify, and parts of the city lay in partial ruin. Crazed mages run rampant in the city, and riots and looting are rife. Researchers make startling discoveries at the obelisks.

The storm seems to promise more catastrophe in its wake...

Storm Warning

Spring has come, and the Konti's Visions have become reality. Chaos and destruction reign across the city, and citizens are advised to stay indoors. Reports file in from all across Zeltiva. Much of the University's West Wing has collapsed, and the docks have been severely damaged by an immense tidal wave. Some areas of the city are also flooded. Partial reports seem to indicate that the Scholar's Asylum is damaged and open too. Two strange obelisks of unknown origin have risen from the water in the bay. The Temple of Laviku has remained undamaged, glowing with a strange blue light, while the Storm Shrine emanates lightning from its roof. The faithful point to these occurrences as signs from the God's.

Scores of injured have tried to find their way to the Infirmary, and Mistress Claira is struggling with the intake. Thus far, the Infirmary building seems to have held steadfast, and all able healers are called there to help with the relief effort.

No one knows when the storm will pass, only that in its wake Zeltiva will be a shell of its former self. Though the world was changed forever, Mizahar survived one valterrian. Stay as strong as possible - community and unity will see the city through this disaster.

Able bodied citizens are called by the Lord of Council to help round up the crazed mages that escaped from the Scholar's Asylum during the storm - there are monetary bounties on their capture and safe return!

In the wake of recent events - the murder at the University, and the ruinous storm that swept across the land - one citizen has handed out flyers for a meeting:

Citizens of Zeltiva.
Arm yourselves with skill, and a free mind.
Join the people who take hold of their own destiny.

The Exulted Storm Shrine. 19th. Midday.

-Trente Ostentatoire-Criard Eclatante, Equal Citizen of Zeltiva.

Everyone is welcome to attend what should be an inspiring meeting. Around twenty five people have already gathered beside the storm shrine. You can to.

Citizens are advised to stay indoors, unless they are:

a) Stupid

or

b) Strong

Glassbeaks are on the loose! Five of them to be precise.

Lyam, citizen and student of Zeltiva, has posted the following advertisement in the Zeltivan Chronicle:

Hello dear students of Zeltiva!

I’m glad to present to you THE event of the season. My team and I are working hard to propose to you a mid-season party in the field behind the university, the 45th of Spring, 512 AV. After the disaster of the storm, it could be great for all of us to gather and have fun!

But as you may know, organising all of that will cost some time and money. That’s why we will ask each of you five copper Mizas* to enter, after what free food and drinks will be waiting for you! And let me say that you will not be deceived by the music, because we managed to bring to Zeltiva one of the most famous bands in Mizahar!

So, we are waiting for you! Let’s have fun!

Lyam, student in herbalism and fencing, and his team **

*five for students, seven for non-students. Profits will be used to aid with the city's reconstruction.

**If you wanna join the team to organize the event, you’re welcome!

Maria Satterthwite has invited the entire city to the giant cemetery hill overlooking Zeltiva for a small series of announcements, and a comment on our previous season, following the cataclysmic storm! Maria's last speech shocked us all, and changed our lives forever. I for one hope this one will be boring!
