Bring Out Your Dead! (Open)

Isikais casually applied the alabaster white lotion to his skin as he read, careful not to get any residue on the pages of the book. Then the black substance, slightly more viscous, he applied by running his hands through his hair. Both bottles went back into the bag without so much as a rustle from Isikais. Even now Zeltiva's denizens were noisier than Sahova's silence. Isikais would have to get used to a new set of ambient noises in this living city.

Goodnight. It was a simple courtesy, a well-wishing utterance that must have seemed so natural to humans, delivered without a thought. "Goodnight." Isikais replied, "Sleep well." He ran over the events of the day in his mind, wondering what else he might learn. As Hadrian slipped into sleep, Isikais listened to the rhythm of his breath again, patiently mimicking every inhalation and exhalation, until the two matched breath for breath.

When he was certain that Hadrian was asleep he stood up, careful to keep complete silence. It was not difficult for him to avoid unwanted movement or unintended rustling. He removed a small mirror from his bag and positioned himself nearer to the sleeping man. When close enough to see Hadrian, and with a perfect angle, he began his work, etching a glyph onto the small mirror with his white wax pencil.

He began with the small things first, the chlorine colored eyes, etched into his memory from the moment they met. Then those insistent brows. For several hours Isikais body shifted, each muscle and tendon, each spot of color. Slowly and carefully he matched the man detail for detail. By the end of his work anyone walking into the room would have thought they were looking upon Hadrian staring down at himself sleeping. Without wasting any time Isikais carefully etched his barrier runes onto the mirror, and then the trigger, his own palm upon the mirror. Stored away within the glyphs was the process he had taken hours to perform and perfect. Soon enough he would be able to engage the alterations without Hadrian or the mirror, but that would take time, time and access which he would have to assure the next day.

To that end he began to plan his next day with Hadrian as he willed his body to slowly shift back into the form that Hadrian had seen that day.
