I totally am using the template.

1. Name - or what you'd like to be called!
'Tet' is fine. Came up with character name and corresponding nickname today, and I prefer to be associated with the characters I play rather than any more personal name.
2. What sort of RP experience do you have if any?
Like, a decade's worth. Video game RPs, comic book RPs, TV show RPs and very few original RPs. Recent years have trended to more advanced - which isn't to say longer posts.
3. How did you find us?
Google. Semester over, hadn't been in RP since last summer, looking to start up again.
4. What sort of RP style is your favorite?
I prefer posts with points - not necessarily short, but sweet and to the point regardless. Convey emotion, develop response, display internal thoughts... but only as relevant to the story being woven and the direction it is soon to take.
5. What do you like to write about - not write about?
Like morality, spirituality, reasoning and philosophy and the positive and negatives ends of each as the mix. Dislike 'Evil' as a label applied other than through the appropriate character's thought process.
6. Whats your favorite thing about Mizahar so far?
The Lore.
7. What, if anything, has frustrated you about Mizahar so far?
Skill point system. Feel like it restricts certain character developments that would be perfectly logical. There exist plenty of totally cool ways to create a character within the confines, but a few interesting paths appear markedly off-limits.
8. What would you like out of the mizahar experience?
Smiles, laughs, sense of worry and concern, some collaboration and some friendly rivalry.
9. Is there anything you'd like to see expanded?
Skill Wikis, but, I suppose in time I could help with that.
10. Anything else you want to talk about?
TELL ME ABOUT YOU.

Also, my spelling is awful and I make simple grammar mistakes, like, constantly. I spellcheck IC posts, but spellcheck won't catch you're grammar errors, digg?

Hi Tet! Welcome to Mizahar! I am Verilian, DS of the city of Ravok. I just wanted to respond to your comment about the skills being restrictive. I know that our skill list doesn't contain every single possible skill in the whole of existence, but all of those skills are available to you for play, barring made up magical things not in our lore. But if it's a real life skill, and within Mizahar's tech level (so no auto-mechanics plz) you can take it. The only time we really get on to people about this is if you are taking a skill that is already covered in another. For instance, if you took Fire Starting, that would have already been covered in Wilderness Survival and we'd ask you to change your skill over to that. But if you wanted something not on the list such as say.. um.. well.. honestly I can't think of anything right now. That list has a lot of skills on it. But if you did think of something and it was a viable skill not included in a different skill, and was permissible according to the lore, then you could certainly take it.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Hope you have lots of fun here. Happy writing!

Thanks for the welcome!

I guess if I'm going to voice a frustration I should do it clearly.
Actually I meant more restrictive in level of mastery; a wizened old man who spent his life doing a singular thing still can't pass up the 30 skill mark. So as teachers, instructors, and leaders go it seems restrictive... Not really preventing me from pursuing my character concepts of choice but I still got instinctively frustrated reading that certain levels of learning were off limits.

Interestingly, one of the things that I really love about the site is that same system; a swordsman is more than his competence with his sword; that fitness, acrobatic agility, ability to survive on his own or rally others to fight with him would differentiate a brilliant swordsman more than simply skill with sword. I really do like the way it makes me think more than I dislike the ability of restrictions, so please don't mistake my initial misgivings for a petition to change.

Well you are only restricted during initial character creation. You can make a wizened old man if you wanted, but we cant just let you be a master right off the bat. You haven't earned it. However, if you really wanted your PC to be a wizened old man with mastery in various skills, then all you would have to do is do flashbacks. I play a character who I wanted to have a lot of skill due to his past. So I flashbacked the majority of his passed, earned my skills fair and square, and only started playing him in the present once I reached the skill levels I wanted to be at.

The restrictions are to prevent powergaming. On other sites people create god characters and masters of magic and combat without ever having earned any of that. Here on Mizahar you can't do that. You have to earn it all through roleplaying. I personally think it's way better that way, but that's just me.
