Physical Description
Name: Lliwen Vafara
Race: Charoda
Birthday: Winter 494 AV
Age:18
Gender: Female
Height: 5”2
Weight: 100lbs

Dainty and cute, often gets mistook for a Charoda of a younger age. Her skin is the palest of blues and shimmers like icicles in sunlight, though has a deep purple scar on her left thigh. Typically wears flowing clothes that appear almost fluid as she travels through the water, usually in various colours of the sea. Also always wears a pearl necklace her grandmother gave her. Her favourite feature is her smile, which she was frequently told could lift even the darkest of spirits. She is slightly above average fitness, due to her explorations she often sneaks off to do where she looks for items to collect.

Character Concept
Gentle and works methodically in all she does. Her aim is to become a powerful water mage and do good in the world whilst seeking adventure. Is shy but is fiercely loyal to her friends. Keeps a purple pouch with her at all times where she collects items she considers to have some sentimental value or particularly pleasing to the eye. Extremely inquisitive and her curiosity can sometimes lead her into trouble. She always helps those less fortunate than herself. Loves exploring and learning but hates unnecessary violence.

Character History
Lliwen was the only child of a well off Charodae family who breed seahorse steeds, and in recent years bought into the new business of seahorse racing, further increasing their fortune. They are strong followers of the god Makutsi, and since gaining more money hold annual rain dance balls in her honour for different charities around Charosi, which Lliwen helped to organise as far as she can recall. Her father (Pantou) is very hardworking, though has always strived for more no matter how successful he became. Despite this, he does have great love for his family and is incredibly protective of Lliwen. Her mother (Kesla) once was an adventurer but after a bad experience became very fearful of the world and now is quiet and soft spoken, though occasionally dips back into her past to tell Lliwen tales of her travels. She has little contact with extended members of her family (bar charity events and certain special occasions) with the exception of her grandmother, Gabella. She is the kindest woman Lliwen has ever met still to this day, and is her motivation to always to her best and strive to better herself. Little was known about Gabella, even to her own son, and this fed Lliwen’s inquisitiveness. Both her mother and father work tending to the steeds and have always been busy throughout Lliwen’s upbringing, causing her to spend more time than most would with her tutor, Tansu, causing him not only to be her mentor, but one of her closest friends. This also left her lots of time for reading, one of her favourite hobbies due to her thirst for knowledge. She was always highly talented with her abilities with coral and to a lesser extent botany, history and language (both Char and Common) however, never took to geography and as well, and this often led to her getting lost during her free time, as most of this was spent searching for ‘treasures’. She was deemed knowledgeable by Charoda standards at age 11. At this point in her life, her parents rewarded her efforts with her own steed, Nikolette. This enabled her to explore even further afield from the safety of her home, something she relished in. Her grandmother, too, gave her a gift, a breathtaking set of pearls that gleamed with the shine of a thousand stars.
She began working with her parents, and even though she loved the sea horses, she dreamed of more than this mundane life. On her days off regardless of having no real need to, Lliwen continued to see to Tansu, who decided that due to her talent and the potential he saw in her, he would teach her how to control water through reimancy. She took to it almost instantly however, to get control it took 8 months of hard graft to finally got the hang of it. Though the introduction was both painful and brutal; she loved her magic above anything else. She continued her training with him until the day she left, though is still at a beginner to moderate level with her abilities.
Her best and worst memories involve her grandmother, the evenings she spent at her house were blissful; her grandmother was not as fearful of the world as her parents, and let her venture more and further. Then, one faithful evening when she was aged 14, her geography failed her and she ventured into a dark part of Charbosi. A large pair of bloodshot violet eyes lay on Lliwen, and for a few brief moments, the world seemed to stop. Even the gentle ebb of the water against her skin seemed to halt in apprehension. Until it charged. A dire water velispar burst through from a coral bed, sending shards of colour exploding through the water. A large shard sliced through Lliwen’s thigh, causing her to release a haunting scream that hung in the area around her. The noise, startling Nikolette, caused her loving steed to charge off, leaving her alone with the velispar. Lying there, whimpering, she was certain this was the end, her curiosity had finally got the best of her. Then, out of nowhere, there was Nikolette with her grandmother on her back; casting water magic like that she had never been taught or even seen Tansu do. This angered the monster, and it’s attention shifted from Lliwen to Gabella, who called to her granddaughter, instructing her to climb on her steed and run. Afraid and confused, Lliwen numbly obeyed, knowing that this would be the last time she saw her idol. For one last time, the two looked each other in the eyes, as one last goodbye, and Gabella cried out
“ Go Lliwen, go explore this world, live your dreams. You will do great things little one. Don’t stay in prisoner in those stables, that’s not who you are, you have it in you to change things. I love you.”
And nothing. Lliwen could summon nothing. With tears in her eyes she just nudged Nikolette to run back to the safety of the town.
When she explained this to her parents she was just emotionless, a void. It wasn’t until a couple of weeks later she managed to cry, a cry beautiful yet heart-breaking at the same time. She didn’t want to talk to her parents, she didn’t know if it was her imagination but she was almost certain she saw resent and disappointment in their eyes. So she went to the only other person she trusted, Tansu. She told him what events had unfolded, how she didn’t know what to do, and all she knew was that she must make her Grandmother proud. She knew she couldn’t work in the stables any longer, and Tansu kindly offered to let her stay in his house. It was far more modest than her usual home, but she couldn’t face living there.
Her days then consisted of manipulating coral for residents, helping Tansu teach younger Charoda and of course, practicing her water powers. She occasionally saw her parents; however, she knew things would never be the same. Nothing of particular interest happened in her adolescent years, she drank too much to attempt to drown her sorrows, though every time they were too strong swimmers. She met more Charoda’s and had a couple of relationships of sorts with both genders, though none went past kissing, she just seemed to not be able let her guard down in those situations in case anyone was stolen from her like her grandmother.
Aged 17, this semi-depressive state somewhat lifted, and she made it her mission she would explore the world like her dream once was and become a powerful water mage. It took her a while to prepare but eventually aged 18 she left the safety of Tansu’s home, a forged herself a shelter in the water bed amongst the corals, and waited for her adventure to begin.
