Bobbin Snakes [Bob Barton/Pig's Foot]

Her own cold opinion of Bob did not change to any extreme degree, other than he was unconvincing and proved her point to his lack of combat skills. He wasn't the most perceptive or witty fellow either, finding it hard and taking his time to realize the intricacies of Sunberth politics. Sure, its not like he did work for two of the biggest gangs in the city as a free lancer like the snake did, but a lowly gang like that coming after him ? As a good of a runner he is, he would make them the entire laughing stock of the town and eventually, run them out or get them killed by some other wanna-be hooligans.

Still mildly thinking to herself, "Well, it is whichever method fits your fancy. I shan't impose the ideas no longer," said Yuri. Leaning back slightly with her right hand raised, Yuri waved for the waitresses attention. Moment of wait after, the blonde came with her feet shuffling across the wooden floor. The tavern had been well kept over the years, surprise for many a person due to the chaotic environment to which it caters to. "Please, three glasses of cold water for myself," with a fake smile, slit eyes peering into the womans soul, searching for a weakness, a sign of insecurity that was common among human females. The waitress looked down, writing the order before quickly leaving.

Ears twitching at the comment about watching her own back, it brought a smile and small "hmph" noise. "Your right, but they aren't worth anything at all. I'll get a contract for them soon enough, or they will piss someone off they really shouldn't and die. 'Tis is how the weak perish in Sunberth." She finished, looking away from Bob once more as the glasses came. One by one they were put on the table carefully, the woman scurrying along taverns maze of tables with the black trey covering her bosoms.

"Bob ? A peculiar name. But anyway, what are your talents I wonder ? Other than running like a dog with a tail between its leg, you must have some type of purpose for still being alive," she asked, mockery in the tone with a touch of sincerity in the question. She really just wanted to know for curious reasons, but also wanted to get under the man's skin. If it was possible.

Proving to have no combat skills is always good in Sunberth. Since Bob's size already made himself a big target to the idiots the allusion causing the same did not matter much other than allowing him to catch people off guard or make them less likely to drag him into a dangerous situation with them. No one would actually guess that hidden inside his cane was a very sharp and dangerous weapon which was good but even then, combat skills or running skills will not matter much in an ambush against a whole gang low or not. Probably the best defence is belonging to one of the nigger gangs but even that would not help much against overconfident wannabes who want to try their luck thinking they would not be caught. Bob used to protected by some of the Crimson Edge but there was nothing to be heard of them now so he did not want to take any chances.

At least Jahs left the subject of how he should handle the gang alone. It was good that it did not suggest some inevitable confrontation for Bob who knew it was not good to test his luck without a great reward. Talking about killing must be making the woman thirsty, besides the fact of pointing out that she was bloodthirsty because she ordered three glasses of water. Bob was not so much adding in only "one more" for himself. Running was pretty hard work but probably not as much as violence by the looks of it.

She looked amuse about Bob's warning and gave that smug statement that Bob did not really believe in. "Sure they're not worth anything and they will die when you get a contract or they piss off the wrong person" which is actually very likely to happen but Bob remained unconvinced. "That will still take some time and between it?" he asked hoping that the question in itself will have Jahs come to the answer herself. If not the next statement in response to her belief of the weak in Sunberth, something that Bob really wanted to scoff at since as everyone can see he was still around but he could not since saying "you can crush a bee with your fingers, hopefully without getting stung first but a swarm can kill the unprepared" was a pretty serious illustration that could work with minor thugs. It was still better than if Bob said ants like he initially thought. What can a swarm of ants do except annoy you with some pain? Not as much as he would like for his purposes now.

And would Bob want to prepare her in case she suddenly decided to kill him. What was his talents...what was his talents. At least she came to a conclusion herself. Bob was half tempted to make a boast at that degrading comment especially since as Jahs pointed out, he was alive. Being the troll he was the man decided to play her game brushing aside the bad by saying "oh you know, running has its uses" eventhough it does not have to mean he lost anything. "You can't imagine the amount of sore losers that would whip out a blade after a little fun with cards and dice. Not really my fault if Ovek likes me more right?" he asked with a chuckle to the suggestion of his own talents before finally getting to his glass of water. Other than that what kept him alive could also be "among other people" which he was able to befriend like the Crimson Edge who had his back in Sunberth, or some of them anyway.

But that was enough about Bob and he showed it by sitting back properly at the table as if his attention was on Jahs when he asked "what about you? I can see you have great pride in your work and I can tell you are quite good at it but do you like to do anything else in your free time" unless those also included killing which means Bob would have to excuse himself before he got dragged into a more dangerous situation. "Someone like you should also have some interesting talents right?" he asked trying to find out more about her and hopefully flatter her.

Bobbin Snakes [Bob Barton/Pig's Foot]

oocWhenever you feel its the right moment, get to the whole point of the thread ;D

Parched throat that was longing for a reliever, a strong grip exerted its dominance over the cup as Yuri's fingers encircled it in its entirety. Her conversation with Bob was not an endeavor she was exactly enjoying to its fullest potential, but it was killing time nicely. Fond of learning information from people, just the simple views of a random individual saved by her hand was interesting enough for her. Had been long since such companionship was added to Yuri's schedule. Different opinions, ideals, amongst other things was refreshing to her life. The encounter could of been under better circumstances ; albeit with another person, but was a new spin nonetheless.

"Whether it happens between that time or not," she was beginning to say, a gulp of water interrupting the sentence before her slits met Bobs, "isn't of any concern to me. To worry about swarms and when they will strike is a hopeless cause, since I couldn't control knowledge despite possessing it. The best I can do is live in the present, plan for the future and be inspired by the past."

It was her simple principle. The dwarf was true in his words, making Yuri rethink her opinion on its intelligence and wisdom, but it wasn't something that the Dhani had not been aware of beforehand. At the present time, she was enjoying the night whilst making conversation, with no concern for the future other than what her next move was going to be. She wasn't worried about the green bandana guys, she'd worry about them when they became relevant to her life once more. One thing was for sure, Bob had risen her senses, now more alert to her surroundings than earlier.

The exchange of thoughts was welcomed. The saying as was told to the younger generations, "You learn something new everyday," was true. Knowing of the existence of Ovek but not much about it, piqued interest. She would usually consider him useless knowledge, but then again, knowledge is useless when not applicable to the moment. So she was eager to learn about him no doubt. "Ovek? Please enlighten me on the subject and maybe a tale or two of his favors?" asked Yuri. She knew of stories and testimonies of gods helping the devoted follower once or twice in a lifetime, so in her mind, this was a chance to figure out what triggers such appearances.

At the mention of pride, it was simply she liked the reward for hard-work and dedication. No matter what people say, its not the easiest thing to do some mercenary missions. It might be brute force or require high-amounts of cunning, but no matter the case, without some sort of talent and work ethic, it was a profession ill-advised with those lacking former and latter qualities. "Its something I don't tend to talk about, just mention. To answer the question about talents, I come from a line of trinket makers and I can make a variety of poisons. Don't fret, poisoning you was never in mind, not exactly the best conditions to attempt it anyway."

An individual who had quick reactions, wit, appearance of a dolt with the wisdom of a man who has seen numerous brawls and many an offense to humanities average morals. He knew how to survive and Yuri knew running wasn't enough, so some sort of other skill was hidden in his bag of tricks. Allies in the shadows was her first thought, or even an elaborate assortment of equipment for any combat scenario. Nonetheless, Yuri was observing and evaluating for her next move, hopefully getting him interested in a job with her in the near future.

Learning something new. "You didn't seem much like the learning type" Bob commented thinking that it was one of her talents he was waiting for her to tell him although it was not interesting at all. If learning was what Jahs wanted, "whats a nice girl like you doing in a place like Sunberth then?" Bob asked in jest since she seemed nothing like nice. "Zeltiva would be better wouldn't it?" since it was the learning hub in the region although if she did went there she would have to forsake her other talent, killing. The Waveguards would definitely be more strict with those than the gangs who work on uncertain principles in the city they control and there would be no way for her to know if her next target was a mage with some weird powers, unless its too late.

But on to the more interesting topic as always, gambling! It seems that she misunderstood that Bob actually met the god, because the favors are more of "the usual. The good cards coming to me and the rolls working for me. Those are still hard work though. I prefer it when he just sends me a few idiots that wouldn't know they are being taken for until long after I'm done" giving a pause about what he wanted to say next. Should he actually...why not? It was not like he had anything to lose. "I still prefer Lady Kel though, she is more direct with her help and she looks better" he mentioned with a laugh "but its not like you can keep lady luck for yourself." Bob gave another pause smiling at the joke before at Jahs because of his suggestion that "I'm always forced to find another one especially in Sunberth. Never liked going to Johnny's alone." Not as direct as he would have liked but it was enough, giving a chance for her to pick it up and offer if she wanted to.

It was as subtle as poisons, or so Bob hoped. The mention of it however got Bob a little worried but he did not see Jahs touching his drink, yet. Deciding to always keep at least one eye on it despite her assurances he found himself asking "what conditions are those? Its better you tell me so I can avoid a situation that we both would regret" or at least he could. Bob was not kidding when he asked about that because he did not want to get poisoned. Not pursuing the topic of her work that she seemed to be avoiding, Bob went on to "trinket makers..." instead. Now that was interesting since "I've tried my hand at those but lets just say I'd better quit while I'm ahead" the statement more towards the effect of said trinkets instead of how they looked. As much as Bob would like to make a connection with poisons as well since it was something his uncle tried to teach him, he decided against it because he did not want Jahs to be as wary of him as he was to her.

Having already talked for so long Bob decided that it was time unless Jahs needed him for something more or something else happened. He looked around tavern finding that there were no more people with green bandanas and beige jackets but plenty of people with plain clothes stained with booze. Drunks are probably not going to be a problem for Bob especially as he noted there were not many that had weapons with them at least none visible in the usual spots but Bob probably already looked over the other spots like the head and jacket when he were looking for the cause of his worries earlier. "I have to say, this is a pleasure Jahs" and moving his glass close to her "maybe we should do this again sometime, if you're interested" unless she really was going to go with him to Tall Johnny's now. Finishing off his water even if she left him hanging, he mentioned that "you can probably find me..." oh wait this is bad. He was not living in any proper place in Sunberth now and decided to offer "...anywhere you want" leaving it up to her to make the decision and give him an indication if she was interested in any future meetings.

Which would probably come under better circumstances. Then again maybe not since better cimcumstances to the woman as she thought was with another person that was not Bob. Still, the man can hope for the best even if today has not been too kind to him.

Bobbin Snakes [Bob Barton/Pig's Foot]

The small man spoke true, a little bit of too much of praise, concerning the reason for the snake's relative location, why not instead relocating to a place that would reflect her looks and simple demeanor. She had not thought about the idea, nor did she plan to brood on it besides than it was an interesting inquiry that was a conclusion that had reasonable logic supporting it. What was there in Sunberth for her? Opportunity that Zeltiva would not approve of, so once the talents that she had trained with for so long did not have further use, Sunberth would be her home until other circumstances would divert her to a different location or career goals.

"I do things better suited for this environment, that simple," said Yuri as she took a gulp of water from her cup, the condensation trickling down her knuckle and absorbed by a piece of cloth. "Interesting, I shall study the subject further then when I have time."

It was getting late indeed and it seemed like Barton was hinting at leaving together or just leaving in general as he stood up. It was good conversation, despite whatever Yuri thought personally about the whole meeting and commotion caused. Within her core, it was something she needed to rekindle a flame that had been long extinguished. Staying quiet when asked about the conditions, another stern glance was sent Bob's direction before looking away and sighing. "Do not leave, I have a proposition for you, I got a job for a heist and should be simple with your help. Problem is, its a person and not a place." This would surely get his attention.

According to her. Besides Sunberth there is a demand for people who can fight, or do not mind killing almost everywhere. With the exception of Mura of course she can probably so her things anywhere she chooses in Sylira, even the world if she wanted. A poor excuse Bob would not waste his time pointing out since it was Jahs choice to stay in Sunberth just as much as it was his to not want to stay in a place which in reality provided him nothing worthwhile in anyway despite the promise the city held when he first came only, "are you sure the things you mean isn't being smart?" Granted antagonizing a gang is not very smart but she has continually repeated and hinted her intellectual interests...if Bob took learning and studying like all Zeltivans did.

That is a way of life. His life no longer in any great danger relatively speaking in Sunberth since the gang was out of the tavern, Bob found it was the best time for him to leave before they could recover. Also while he would say his attempts with Jahs was no great success, it did not really fail either in a sense she still has not turned her bow on him and even when he did not mean it she thought that he was still trying to woo her. Not that the stern glance and the sigh that followed reassured him that this was a good thing. At least she stopped him before he can explain himself with a proposition. As he thought, it was "always something" that people were looking for. Something, someone, somewhere, it made no difference except of how hard it would be.

Staying seated on the chair, Bob looked at the woman thinking...thinking..."one of your contracts?" A pretty important question for Bob because a heist was always good for him to get a little more money but her contracts would mean someone is going to die based on the skills she displayed. At least in a sense if he helped her he might be able to get on her good side, which is actually too much effort just for one woman. But...if he got a hint of who she is working for, if she did not already tell him as a part of the answer to the previous question, he might be able to get the attention of someone that holds some influence in Sunberth. That at least is worth some effort, if both outcomes are a possibility together.

However "I can see the problem there. If it was only a place we could wait till its empty. A person? The human element is always there. Anything can happen." The unknown random factor there, as with gambling always brings the thrill, and annoyance when everything goes wrong. "Can't make any promises but if you trust me enough to explain it, I can at least think about it." No way Bob was going to agree to anything without knowing the risks and at least by putting it out there, Jahs will know where he stands and might be more likely to tell him what he needs to know without any doubt. "Just tell me what you want to get, who we'll end up pissing off whether you have anyone else in your crew." Jahs was great so far, but Bob would not know about anyone else. Giving a chuckle to lighten the mood "I suppose I should've expected something like this, when our first night is already so...exciting..." but it was going to be an all business relationship. It could have been a lot more disappointing if not for the fact that everything like this in Sunberth always ends up making Bob a little richer.
