Hello everyone.

I stumbled upon this lovely site yesterday when I decided I required another roleplaying community to get back into the play-by-post style as I've been away from it for a while now, and I only just decided to sign up after slaving through the lore in order to have a clear concept in mind once I actually... stumbled in.

I'm still a total n00b, though, but I'll be sure to wrap my head around it eventually.

My name is Nathalie and I've been roleplaying for roughly 8 years now. My career started out on forums much like this one, though that was more freeform all-the-possible-universes-jumbled-up-into-one. I've roleplayed a lot of different things since then. Fantasy, sci-fi, Vampire, Bleach, Naruto, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, Harry Potter, Terrawin (another website with a custom setting; closed down a while ago, unfortunately) and various other different kinds. I've developed my own settings and DMed, as well. I've roleplayed on forums, in Skype and other messenger services, tabletop (such as DnD, World of Darkness, etc.), LARP/Live Action RolePlay, and roleplay in various different MMORPGs.

I came here because I've... a really sore need to deal with my Writer's Block. Any RP I'm involved in these days is either on Skype or World of Warcraft, and anytime I try to get involved with on-forum roleplay I just kind of stop and freeze. I need to get back in the mood to inspire myself to write and the impression I got from the site while I was busying myself with reading is a generally good one. So, I hope it'll be helpful for my writing.

... Hopefully I'll be able to stick to just one character, too. I've a very bad habit of simply hoarding a bunch of them without every seeing them through any real and consistent development, leaving them laying around to gather dust. I've just one character idea at present for an Akalak, though I do have a few questions about them in order to wrap my concept up as a whole.

I just need to figure out where I saw the "ask your questions here!" place. I know I saw it while I was browsing! Hnnngh!

Also, please don't mind my general stiffness in this post. I'm always like this when I just enter a new community since I don't really know what to expect or what is expected of me, entirely. So I go stiff, because that's totally a safe card to play. <_< Right?

I'll loosen up a lot later, once I settle in. So be patient with me! *bows down*

*ducks out*

EDIT: Oh, and... I'm Swedish. I thought I'd put that out there right away. My native tongue is, thus, Swedish. I do have some proficiency in English, but be on the lookout for mistakes.

Welcome to Miz! We're very happy to have you here.

I see you found the question forum (great questions, by the way!), so I'll just say that I love Akalaks. You mentioned that you have a tendency to create many different characters rather than focusing on just developing one. One of the many cool things about the Akalak race is that they allow you to play two very different personalities. If you get drained with one side, just bring out the other for a while! There's also a great set of Character Development questions in the Character Sheet forum which might help inspire you.

And in terms of dealing with writer's block, my advice would be to just dive right in after your character sheet has been created! I came to the site suffering from severe writer's block as well, and I found that Miz really helped me to get back into it. If you need any encouragement, the wonderful people in Chat (and my inbox) are always available to help you out.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

Important Reminder!
Character Sheets do not require approval for you to begin playing! Once you've made your CS, you can go ahead and RP. "Verified" simply means that your CS has been looked at and there are no errors. Only if an intervention is placed on your CS must you stop RP to address the note.
