Orion, Day of Fall 33, 502 AV Life was hard to predict sometimes. Orion was learning this fact very quickly. Only a handful of days before he'd been his father's protege, fast tracked to be a doctor, just like pops. Deep in study about medical procedures, terminology, with an occasional lesson about herbs or philtering thrown in. Yet with a simple request to learn magic everything had changed. It had taken him quite off guard that his father had not only accepted it, but set him up with a wizard for training. Well, accepting it isn't exactly the best way to put it. He'd had him fake kidnapped and traumatized during the initiation to try and get him to fear it the powers it held. For Orion, however, it only served to strengthen his resolve. He wished to learn more, finding the thought of magic much more exciting than another day learning about bones and breaks. He found himself faced with one unfortunate problem, though. His father, while not reversing path and refusing Orion the privileged to practice his new found power, had declared their home a 'no magic' zone. No Res. No transmuting. No throwing it around. No creating a mess. It was no good. That left him with no where for his practicing. The fledgling wizard spend many hours trying to figure out just where he could go to learn to wield this power, but no where would come to mind. The city was very strict on use of magic within the city, and understandably so. Orion would be likely to add to the growing list of novice reimancers who caused damage to the city. Considering his lack of income, it would be most upsetting to his father if he caused and problems and would likely end up in the revocation of any rights to practice. Outside the city wasn't an option, either. The young boy didn't have a clue about life outside of Syliras and was likely to get lost or worse. There was plenty of room though, so it might have to do. He was nervous about the risk, and the ire of his father, should he find out. Thankfully, the teenager wasn't forced to make that call. Unexpectedly, a courier arrived at his father's residence, and even more surprising was that the note was for Orion and not his father. He had thanked the boy and brought the letter back to his living area to try and read it in privacy. Making sure no one was around he unsealed the letter and read it to himself. It was an address. The location of an apartment, and nothing more. "How odd..." He didn't recognize it, certain he'd never seen it before. The hand writing was plain and nondescript. There was no way Orion could know who it was from. At the same time, there was no way the young man wasn't going to find out. He quickly packed up a bag with his things, trying to keep quiet, but the barely contained excitement made this a nearly impossible task. Orion was thankful his father was out working today, and had left him to his studies, but he didn't want to risk alerting anyone to his plans. Realizing all he had done was pack snacks, the boy laughed and shook his head. "I don't even know why I'm bringing this. It's not as though i'm leaving forever." With a deep sigh and a smile he exited the room. It was time for a little exploration, and hopefully a little excitement. |
