This is Falyndar at its finest. Danger lurks everywhere - in the ground, in the trees, in the bush. Only the strongest survive...

Fall 10, 512 AV

Justice collapsed against a large tree, exhausted. She took deep, shaky breaths and let her eyes close. Fatigue washed through her aching limbs, encouraging her to sleep. She listened to the sounds around her, until she heard a rustling. She slowly opened her eyes. She stared straight ahead, and saw eyes gazing at her. She swallowed hard and blinked slowly. "H-hello?" she whispered hoarsely, slowly falling to her hands and knees. She crawled a bit forward, being catious towards the unknown being in front if her. She began wheezing and tried to sit up, only to fall on to her side. She looked up to where she saw the eyes, but they were gone. "I must be hallucinating..." she mumbled, not making any move to lift her head from the dirt floor. She coughed quietly, changing to her Kelvic form.

Justice crawled into a tight crevice tiredly, almost hitting her head. She curled up inside the hole and again closed her eyes. She continued to hear the rustling, but thought nothing of it. Of course she wasn't the only one here. She soon began finding it hard to breathe. Her eyes stayed closed softly, but her paw dropped out of her hiding spot. She was much too weak to lift her small, snow white paw back into the cavern. She left it, and listened to the breeze whistling in her ears. Soon, she was snuggled up in a tight ball and was asleep.

A voice! Noravennsalar, in his snake form, lay low to the ground. He hid amongst the dirt and fallen leaves, masking his skin's bright colors amidst the jungle floor. It was how he hunted. The reds and oranges of his skin would stand out too much in the jungle greenery so it was in the debris and mud that he hid.

His tongue flicked out, tasting the air. Not Myrian, not a tiger. Myrians spoke two ways. Loudly when they had a prey and softly when they were seeking one. Their tones, no matter what, were always confident. This voice was soft, tainted by fear and uncertainty. It was no resident of Falyndar's jungle. That sort of fear was either overcome in childhood or consumed by the strong. Fear created weakness. In Falyndar, the strong consumed the weak.

And if Salar was one thing, he was a Dhani of raw physical power. Those two gifts from Siku were all the greatest gifts he could imagine from his century of life. And now, Salar would use everything he had learnt, everything he had experienced, not only to survive but to thrive in Falyndar. The strong would dominate and consume the weak; the Dhani would dominate and consume the Myrians. One day.

But today, Salar tasted a new taste. One he had never known before. It made him curious to know what his meal was. Then it changed, ever so subtly. Like ... like a Myrian who had soiled itself or gotten covered in another's blood. How... strange. Salar crept along the jungle floor, tongue flicking out to track the creature that might become his dinner.

It did not take long, for he had already been unwittingly close. A tiger! Salar hid himself to better observe his prey. He had no fear of a single tiger, especially one that was asleep and riderless. But there was something odd. It was not a tiger like what the Myrians possessed. It was all white. Was it an albino? An outcast? Salar shifted into his Dhani, and favored, form. He saw no riding equipage, so this was not a tamed beast. So who had spoken?

As a Dhani, he didn't need a weapon. He was the weapon. Salar was a fairly skilled and experienced wrestler. He had always wanted to tackle a tiger. Salar lowered himself and slithered so as to be downwind of the beast.

Justice's head shot up, hearing something. She sighed and crawled out if her hiding. She then turned back to her human appearance and leaned against the tree, head spinning. What was happening? She fell to her hands and knees, her white hair cascading down over her face. She wiped her sweaty forehead with her sleeve and pushed herself to her feet, not noticing Salar.

Salar watched in mixed horror and fascination as his prey awoke and changed shape right before his very eyes. It wasn't like a Dhani's shapeshifting, which took a few minutes to complete. It was instantaneous! Salar had never seen such magic and could only wonder at the sorcery which enabled it. Was this a witch of the north, gifted in the arcane magicks?

Salar watched and observed. No, this human couldn't be a witch. Those tales he had heard from his mother probably had little, if any, truth to them. And for a powerful witch to be here and so vulnerable, Salar doubted his prey was all that skilled. She looked, now, like a helpless Myrian female though with a fairer skin than he had ever seen.

The transformation made him realize that she might be far more useful to him alive, than dead. A meal could be gotten in the Jungle Wilds anytime. This creature was a far greater prize, if it was worthy. So the issue before the young male was simple. Talk or fight. He settled for talking. A test of her true strength could be done in the safer halls of Zinrah.

"I Noravennssssalar, Conssstrictor and warrior of Queen Ssshnamtanabisss! You are prisoner! Who daresss enter her realm?" the male challenged in his passable Common, emerging as a towering, muscled Dhani. His slithered forwards on his powerful tail muscles, arms flexed to give off the most imposing image. His challenge was spoken, not shouted, as he did not want to announce his presence to the entire jungle. Though unarmed, Salar was completely ready for a fight if this creature resisted him.

Justice whipped around, not exactly scared, but more....curious. She fell back as he got closer, pushing herself farther away. What is this....thing? she thought to herself quietly. Soon, a horrified look streaked her face as she realized what he was. She swallowed loudly, before getting to her feet again. Even in human form, this being was much bigger than her. I won't be able to take him on with out killing myself, even with my tiger's strength....Her thoughts seems to overwhelm her, and she raised a hand to catch herself against a tree. She'd just have to surrender.

Justice sunk to her knees, a low growl rumbling deep in her chest. But she wouldn't resist what ever happened to her. She was just too young, much to young to die. Anger rushed through her veins. Why was she giving up so easily. Because I don't wanna die, she told herself. She remembered his question, and slowly lifted her head. "My name's Justice." she growled fiercely, but weakness shone bright in her eyes.

"Jusssstisssssse?" the Constrictor tested the word in his Common. Without a word, he advanced towards her. "No Jusstissse in Falyndar. Only ssstrong and weak! You weak tiger. Myrian tiger ssstronger. Follow and maybe you live. Maybe get ssstronger. Run, I kill you."

Salar gestured for her answer by smashing his two fists together. He wanted to take this prize pet home. By the law of the jungle, he found her so she was his possession. Maybe she would even make an interesting pet. If not, she was certainly meaty enough for several meals.

But before he ate her, Salar desperately wanted to know the secret behind her instantaneous transformation. If the Dhani could replicate it, they'd have an even greater edge in their war against Taloba and the accursed Myri.

Anger swept through Justice once more. She growled deeply. What right did this Dhani have to order her around?! She shifted into her Kelvic form. "I'll guess you'll have to kill me then!" she hissed before racing up the tree, still growling. At this point, she decided it didn't matter if she died. Why not just let Salar kill her now?

Salar hissed in the snake-tongue. The subjugation of this creature would be amusing. Against a tiger, Myrian or otherwise, wrestling was simply harder due to their greater mass and arrangement of the body. Not impossible, just more difficult. Salar was unafraid of, and even welcomed, the challenge of wrestling a tiger here in the Jungle Wilds.

What was this creature doing here? He did not know and, right now, did not care to know. After he had beaten her and dragged her back to the nest, all the answers could be provided. But now, he needed a swift victory.

His examination of the opponent concluded with two results. The first was that this creature had never killed before. Or if it had, it had never killed a Dhani before. He could see desperation in her form. It was like watching a cornered prey, attempting to put up its best fight in order to survive. Second, she was tired. He had caught her napping. She could not have been asleep for long. Nor could she be completely used to the heat and oppressive humidity of Falyndar. Right now, she was alert. But once the fight began, she would probably tire faster. He had grown up here, this was his natural hunting ground. The heat and humidity had made him stronger, his body considered it normal so he knew it would only count against her.

"Pet needssss lesssson!" Salar hissed in Common before launching himself at her. It was a sudden movement, like a high tension spring being released. His coiled muscles provided all the impetus in his assault.

Fatigue raced through her small body. She looked down when he spoke, only to feel him crash into her, knocking her from the tree. She roared out in pain as they landed, his weight on top of her crushing her body like a bug.She heard crunching noises, that made her flinch. Her left, front paw began aching with pain. She scrambled out from under him and started limping away, trying to be as fast as possible.

She growled as the burn rushed through her leg. But she didn't stop her escape. She found a taller, thicker tree than the one before and tried climbing it, only to find herself back on the floor multiple times, her white coat turning brown from the dirt.

A fight! The kitten wanted to fight!

Salar hissed loudly as a challenge when he saw her run. But her constant attempts at flight up a tree were pathetic. She was weak and she knew it. She was not a warrior, one who was used to the harsh conditions of Falyndar. She was easy meat right now. But Salar was still more intrigued by the transforming ability than the hunger pangs in his stomach.

He slithered up slowly behind her, deliberately casting his shadow over her.
"Kitten runssss. Kitten weak. Follow Ssssalar and maybe you get ssssstronger. Obey. Or die."

Salar didn't actually plan on killing her yet. He wanted, desperately, to know how to transform in the blink of an eye. It would be a tactical advantage, a minor one, over the Myrians. If it was sorcery, someone in Zinrah might be able to repeat it. His threats were more to cow her into submission. But if she remained so uncooperative, he would have no problem knocking her unconscious.
