Tools of power

The last project failed him on some level. He had stored it in a chest inside his room; but the item did work like he wanted. Just not how he wanted. He could not find much of the person in question besides the fact he hated life on Sahova and died but that was enough for him to work with the newest idea.

A block of wood was placed in front of him and he started work like normal. A simple circle was drawn in the center of it with the word “Overgiving”. Two lines were drawn above the circle with another circle forming on top of them with the word “Death”. Below the center circle two more lines with a circle were made “Rage”.

Between the two circles of each row Vick started to draw smaller glyphing symbols which acted like a barrier. This was to focus the power of the artifact into more focused form of power. Since it was on the wood block he was going to transfer the work to the other hand afterwards this gave him more of the idea of how it would work out.

With the barrier placed on the wood he made the sigils of glyphing fan out along the sides of the block along the back from the center point of “Overgiving” word. On the back of the block he made another circle in the center behind the first circle. “Djed” Was placed in that with two lines going up with another circle once more. “Kill” The last two lines moved downwards below the center circle and behind the word “Rage” he had made one last circle with the word “Ecstasy”.

Once the six words were made he filled the block with different sigls matching each word with the counterpart all to focus the djed. Each stroke of the pick told a different story in his head as the wood slowly told a new story with designs. The same would be done to the hand soon he knew as he filled the blank space with life all in hopes to focus the djed into the new circles which would give that djed meaning.

The work was faster than before but still took Vick a good deal of time just for the block of wood. The hand would take longer he knew but that did not matter to him as he cleared his head of doubt. His body moving on its own cleaning the hand once more of dirt.

Wood was one thing but bone was another. He drew the same designs with the quill like the wood held. He started with the Overgiving circle, then moved towards the Kill below it and Djed on top. The sigils were placed along the hand as he turned it over before lining the new circles with the other ones. Behind the Overgiving word was Djed, above that was Kill and below was
Ecstasy.
Once more the gaps were filled with different sigils all to force the djed out of the hand into the circles as flow of focus. Even now he placed his intent behind the drawing on the bone. This was to be used as a weapon for a mage. One that would cost them everything to get what they needed.

He let the ink dry along the surface of the bones before he moved with his carving tools, cutting along the bone letting the bone dust fall to the table as he traced the designs. The circles were first, then the lines and other sigils leaving the words last. The hand was filled with designs all to force things into the circles and act like walls. Around the hand acted like a network of tunnels so more djed could pass and a more control could be dealt with before he added the words.

The day turned into night and the night back into day before he was done at last. He took a knife along his right palm and forced his own Djed into his hand. All with the simple intent of war. Battle. Death. Enjoyment. Rage. Everything he kept behind his cold heart of emotions he filled his hand as he sliced it with the knife letting his inchor flow out onto the table along the bone.

For once the bone glowed a dark crimson shade of red before turning back to normal as Vick placed a flame along the hand to seal it up with burnt skin. His Auristics flaring to life as the auras around him came to focus but what he saw he could not understand. It filled him with slight fear as the sight of the new artifact scared him on some twist level. He was not sure what he made but he knew he was not going to touch it. Deep down he knew the hand would grab on to someone and would wear them.

He took a few steps back before leaving the office to find a golem to move the object. This time he would be further away, outside when a tester would use it. He had never been scared of his own artifacts so why would this one make him so?

The hand was placed out of his mind for the time being. At least that is what he told himself as he forced his mind to clear as he found a odd request in his office. This was the first request he had ever got but it was not in person but in a sealed box with a letter and the bones.

‘ Dear Vick,
I have heard that you might hold some skill within Malediction. One might even say you have the talent to be a Master one day within theses walls. So I have a request that you should not pass up. This has already been carved and shaped, it is a human skull however I want to see what you can do with this item. The person in life was a wizard of some talent of Hypnotism. However I want you to think outside that box too think more. They were rather smart and died of an Obsession with understanding the world. Once this item is done just leave a note along your door. A tester will come and use it then and report to me. You will then be able to keep the mask if you deem fit.

Signed -

A watcher ‘

It was a short letter but a letter nonetheless. Inside the box he saw the skull of a person already cut into. The back of the skull was missing altogether and what remain was the front of of the face. Whoever had cut into it knew what they were doing for the cuts and carving was fine along the edges, smooth to his touch and done with great care. Whatever this person was Vick knew he had to really focus and push himself for this item even if it was a joke.

He took a wood block and started at once drawing along the hard surface of it. Circles filled it like they filled the others yet theses were done with a steadier hand. Even on the test block he dare not to rush his hands as he took each circle as if they were a life that he made.

The words within the circles were simple. “Djed.” “Hypnotism” “Obsession” “Charm” “Perfection” “Genius” All the words were in a large circle with a flower design touching each one letting them hold onto to one another. Letting them hold on to words of power.

Six words. He did not even notice until they were drawn on the block that they were the same as that hand. He had hoped this would give him finer control but at the same time he feared for the added effects. He just had to shake his head and had to push his doubts past him. This was his first request and this had to be perfect. Had to show this person that Vick could think outside the box.

His tools were laid out. The hours had passed since he was done with the block but he had spent the time getting focused. His door was locked with a sign that told them to keep quiet. Really Nuits made no sound but just in case as he took his tools. He did have the gift to be a Master in his craft but now he had to prove it.

Detailed circles were made into the bone with the quill. The black ink showing where he would carve his work into. Within the circles he wrote the words down along the edges of the inside the skull. The words started along the top edge and went around the skull letting it form into a circle of words. Yet in the center he wrote ‘leadership’ in the very middle before drawing curved circles forming petals touching the words together. Yet within the petals he drew more forming hidden chains within them.

Each line it took him a good deal of time. Hours turned into days as he kept working along the drawing. He did not rest, did not stop or even pause as he put all his energy into the soon to be mask.

It had to be the most detailed he had ever put into something at one time. What would had been a ten hour job turned into a ten day job. Just for the painting holding on to his intent for the mask. His tools were heated, sharpened and ready at last as he started the slower and more detail work of tracing along the designs.

He just had to make the indents along the surface. Just to let it stand out enough since the drawing in the end was more than enough. Yet he wanted this to stand the test of time as he scratched along the surface going over his work slowly. Ever so slowly.

After he made work into the first circle had he took a small whetstone along his tools for them to keep the edge. With a candle lit near him he heated the tip of the metal once more as he kept working. One candle turned into two which came to three for each passing hour. The heated point made carving into the bone easier and smoother he found as he kept his mind at the task at hand with his focus.

The drawing did take the shortest time he would find out as days turned into weeks. The slowest work he had ever done but he had pushed every other task off his list. This was the only thing he had to work on. No breaks. No reading. No research. Just work. Careful and detailed work that had to show he had made improvements since he had first started.

At last he was done. What would have taken just a few days turned out to take a full season. Over 80 days had passed, he had ran out of tools and candles which golems replaced without a sound. Yet he was tired. More tired than he could put into words could even start to form.

His own blood was placed along the back as he placed the mask on top of his desk. With a sign that just said done he just took a seat in his chair. His eyes closed for once as he let his body and mind rest. He had no idea what would come or even if it was real. For all he knew it could had been a joke but he would wait. Wait to find out what this all meant. And to see just how far he came.

It's Not What You Think...

Great thread! I am sorry it took so long to get this grade out, but now the results are in! So then shall we get to the items?

The Hand :
The effects on the hand came out just as intended. The hand summons forth all of the mages energy to be used in one single burst. If the person is a reimancer it will come in the form of whatever element they most connect with. For Autistics it will be like their eyes have been opened to a completely new world, possibly giving them enough power to fully see and understand the aura of a God/Goddess at full strength. A Flux user will find their strength and power rises to a level almost inhuman. Leechers can suck the life out of anything, and at such a rate that rocks will crumble to dust. Hypnotist will find that their influence can, in an instant, be spread over several square miles. Morphers can perform the most drastic transformations despite level, changing any aspects of themselves, even to inanimate objects. Projectionist will be immediately thrown from their bodies, and their power and control in astral form will be stronger than ever before. Shielders can hold off attacks of any kind, nothing can pierce their barriers. Voiders will find that they can open portals several miles wide. Those who cannot focus their djed into some external form simply have all of their energy released at once, becoming a mini explosive that can leave deep craters in the ground. The item, however, is a one shot. It uses all of the mages energy all at once, taking even their very life force to fuel this last ditched effort. This item grants enormous power, but it will always end in death. Just as with its brother, this item will latch onto the person that picks it up. There is a lag of half a chime before the effects take place, soothe user has that long to get it off before they perish.

The Mask :
The mask emits a mild form of hypnotism that can affect anyone within about 30 feet of the user. It causes those around the wearer to suddenly feel a nagging sensation, as if there is something they have to do that is really urgent. Over time and exposure this feeling grows, becoming an obsession that can lead to wood carvers working until their fingers bleed, warriors fighting until they die of exhaustion, and dedicated scholars going days without sleep. This happens in stages:

Stage 1: Initial exposure. The wearer has to be within 30 the person form more than an 2 hours. The effects are a nagging feeling of forgetting something important that will last for another 2 hours after the wearer leaves.

Stage 2: The second exposure has to occur within 24 hours or the stage of effects will revert back to stage 1. The affected person now has an insatiable urge to do SOMETHING, and if they cannot find something they are fidgety and anxious. This occurs after at least an hour and a half of exposure. These effects last for the rest of the day, becoming quite annoying by the end.

Stage 3: The third exposure has to occur within 12 hours of the 2nd exposure of the effects revert back to stage 1. Stage 3 requires at least an hour of exposure, and it causes increased anxiety and urge to do something (at this point the person will most likey find something to do). They become obsessed with their topic, it becoming the only thing they think about or talk about. The effects last for 2 days, often leading to the person getting little to no sleep and eating very little as well.

Stage 4: The final exposure has to occur within 6 hours of the 3rd exposure, but this only requires 30 minutes of exposure for the full effects to take place. The person will finally become completely obsessed with whatever topic they are pursuing. They stop eating, stop sleeping and only focus on that one thing. These effects can last up to a week, but by stage 4 the target has already spent close to 10 days with little rest or food. In order to keep these effects ongoing one must regularly visit the person while wearing the mask, and eventually the person will waste away in their obsession.

Lol your results for doing an amazing job in describing everything in the process. It was very easy to come up with these effects. A quick note, Sahova will take possession of the hand, storing it away in their vault for later use. The item has also earned Vick the recognition of some very powerful individuals in Sahova. We will see where this leads him ;).

Keep up the good work!
