Mid-Day
Zeltiva to Sunberth was quite a step. An upper class fishing town to an anything goes slave trading slum. She had heard many things about Sunberth, not one of them good.
The Kelvic kept her head down and her belongings close and away from sight, she pulled up the hood on her cloak avoiding eye contact with anyone. If any of these savages saw her strange purple eyes, it might raise some awkward questions about her race.
Whilst walking along the path that led to the town, Natsuki began to question herself. Why had she decided to come to this city? If you could even call it that. The chances of finding the people she was searching for were slim to none, but accidentally finding the people who she was running from were much higher. Not that she would have minded bumping into those slavers, in fact Natsuki would have gladly reacquainted them with her fangs.
But she was not here to search, she was here for fun. The rumours of this city intrigued her, she had to see for herself what it was really like. Travelling through the forests of Sylira and the grasslands of Cyphrus had its dangers but she had grown bored. Time for something new.
The young girl soon found herself in what appeared to be a market place. All around her people haggled down prices with shady store owners, thieves snatched the coin-purses from unsuspecting victims, two men had started a brawl and many people were now placing their bets. She passed a tavern and stepped over an unconscious man who lay in the middle of the street. Natsuki placed a hand over her nose, humans were disgusting creatures and their stench was almost unbearable.
Her eyes scanned her surroundings, taking into account every man, woman and child that she saw. Everyone here was a threat to her.
She felt something brush against her thigh, the Kelvic's hand shot out and caught hold of the thief's wrist. She looked around at the person who had been attempting to steal the pouch in which she kept her money, a child no older than eight stared back at her with a shocked expression on his dirty face. Natsuki felt her anger subside, she felt nothing but sympathy towards children that had to steal for a living. But, she wasn't going to let him get away with it either. Before letting the boy go she leant down so her face was inches away from his, the Kelvic gave a low growl and bared her sharp fangs. The child held his breath, his eyes widening with fear, and tried to pull away from her, Natsuki smiled a somewhat wicked smile and released his hand.
The boy couldn't get away from her fast enough, he tripped over his feet a few times and ran into a grumpy man before disappearing into the crowd. That was probably his first encounter with a Kelvic, poor kid.
But, Natsuki felt considerably better after this and continued down the street. Where would be a good place to eat?...
