It was good to be in school again. It was better to be in school at a most opportune moment. Ignotus was fortunate enough to leave a rather pleasant impression on his professors (though luck might not have been the only thing involved) and that meant a steady enough stream of meaningless gossip. Obviously, none of them ever mentioned anything sensitive to a student, even one they liked... But they did sometimes drop something tantalizing. Like a noble in Zeltiva. A Ravokian noble, no less.
His Kontinese teacher, while perhaps not perfect at passing along the language, was still a chatty woman, and she had let it slip that one of her colleagues was tutoring a Nitrozian of all people! Naturally, Ignotus simply had to meet him. Of course, there was the small problem of finding him. The University was rather large, after all. Some people who were better versed in gathering intelligence might have found it easy, but for Ignotus, it was more than a little difficult. He could deduce with reasonable certainty that he was studying language, as the Kontinese teacher had heard it from a colleague. Likely someone in the same field. Not that he couldn't have been studying geology, but birds of a feather tended to flock together.
After that, it was mostly trial and error. He wasn't studying Pavi, or Nari, or Tukant, or Arumenic. Symenos and Shiber were both no-gos as well. Finally, during a small conversation with his old Nader-Canoch instructor, the geezer let slip that he was teaching a noble. That made things much easier. From there, it was a bee-line to the appropriate bookshelves in the Wright Memorial Library, a couple bells after when most peoples' classes ended. Or at least, when his classes ended when he had studied in Zeltiva. With a bit of luck, he'd run into the lad there. A noble shouldn't be too difficult to find, should he? Of course, if he didn't appear then, or in the next three days, it wouldn't be difficult at all to resume his studies and hope to run into him. His Nader-Canoch was getting a little rusty anyways.
