Subtlety of post ball intoxication [Gale]

85th Winter 512AV
Late evening, drawing close to midnight
Kelp bar

Many retreated to their homes after the glorious Winter Ball of Zeltiva. Then again perhaps many have stayed till the very end. Valo however chose otherwise, for he had made his conquest that night and little else mattered. A beautiful woman with such lovely tints of androgyny to her fine features. Facial features of course. It seemed that little else but a beautiful face mattered in a woman, for at heart Valo was a portrait artist and thus his mind worked with's all it cogs and screws and intricacies. He had always imagined a mind to work much like a machine did. though perhaps it was just a foolish fantasy. But a man of fantasy is what he was.

Strolling gracefully in his content, he made for the Kelp Bar for he had not visited the place in a long time. A time that was perhaps much less than he presumed, but it seemed time long enough. For among all the champaign and other such frivolities of the winter event, the artist missed the salty taste of Kelp beer and the wonderful prospect of blissful intoxication it provided. Not that he planned on getting drunk. Besides he promised him self that never again would he put himself in a state to compromise his health; but just a mug or two would not do him any harm.

And on in his content he walked, chin high and perfect posture. the walk of a man who had it all and little else mattered. The walk of a man from whom the horrors of mid winter had been gracefully swept, like dust from an old book. Dressed in his finest he was and happy. A spark of youth returned into his dark green eyes, for no plague nor pestilence, no murder nor any other horror would ruin this most perfect of nights. And as he drew closer to the bar a subtle flame of a smile plaid on his lips, perhaps from the alcohol that he already ingested, or perhaps from the deep euphoria that now lingered in every organ of his very being.

Subtlety of post ball intoxication [Gale]

The stars. They were so beautiful. They all seemed so independent but none were alone. There was perfect unity as they floated in the vastness of space. Gleaming like sparkling smiles of a family, together as one.

A sincere smile grew upon his lips as the humble green eyes scanned the dark, clear sky, being as close to them as he thought he would ever get. It was almost like they accepted him, inviting him to join their way of life. Almost. Unless there was a God above in those wonderful, beaming rays of hope that was able to sweep him away and transform him into something knew, the man would have to live with his simple life as an observer. Not that it was all bad. At least this world offered him something to look up to.

Having taken the same path as a man showed him, Gale found himself sitting silently upon a rooftop. Sitting peacefully would be more like it. Although there was a sketchbook in his lap and a piece of charcoal in his lap, there was nothing on the page. The artist was going to attempt to draw the stars for drawing flowers gets tiring after a while. But no painting, sketch, or carving could ever do the justice. There were only a few things of the such, which included the ocean, sunlight, the morning breeze, and of course the starry night. In a way, they were all concepts rather than actual things. Of course, you were able to see them and feel them and things of the sort, but has anyone been able to describe any of them purely and still keep its splendor? Without referring to another majestic item or being? Not that Gale has heard in his lifetime.

Instead of attempting and failing at trying to capture their goodness, the dark blonde instead watched the night pass by. There was no need to draw tonight. He needed a night to inspire him. One that would make him draw for days on end and still have some to spare. Seeing how glorious this night was already, it would be perfect. The Winter Ball was coming to a close. Although he didn't attend, watching all the fishermen, the tradesmen, students and professors all dressed in their best clothes made it all the more magical. It couldn't be a coincidence for a fellow artist he met at the Kelp Bar to be seen strolling along the streets.

Whether it was simply coincidence or if fate chose it to be, the grin on his face opened to show teeth and transform into a smile. Valo had obviously went to the ball. Gale was sure that one wouldn't just roam the streets at night in your best clothes for no reason at all. However, the man wasn't sure if he was just leaving or just about to enter, but if he wasn't in too much of a hurry to go home or to get a drink, perhaps they could talk. It had been a great experience when they first met. Nevertheless, if he was leaving the bar, one could never know just how sane the ginger was after drinking an unknown amount of Kelp Beer...

"Valo." Gale had cupped his frail hands around his mouth. If and when the acquaintance caught his name flying through the air, he waved his arms in wide, long sweeping motions, attempting to make himself as big and noticeable as possible. Not everyone would automatically look up at the roofs when someone calls their name. The people who do are either very strange or paranoid.
