Jason nodded as she spoke, remembering this information for later, he would probably be running into more Kelvic in his travels. He quickly hopped into the saddle on Grazers back and looked around shaking some snow out of his hair. He grabbed the reins and looked at Brighid.

"Is it always this windy?" he asked as another gust blew through his hair, he pushed it back out of his eyes again.

"Yes it is normally this cold, as well as windy.....you get used to it." She spoke honestly caring less about the harsh conditions. She swung back up into her saddle and raised her hood.

"You asked if we would reach the city by nightfall, the answer is no. It is getting dark and it is dangerous to travel at night......We will make a camp soon...."She spoke softly, her her eyes scanning over the terrain again. She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. She locked on to it, it was a straggling deer with a slight limp and was mostly skin and bones.

Feeling the urge to hunt rise up within her she dismounted. She stripped out of her clothing and shifted. Her form taking that of her snow leopard. She stretched a moment and then started bounding over the snow. Her coat helped her blend in with the snow and rocks around her, she crept closer to the straggling deer her muscles bunching ready to spring.

Life is a challenge we all face, but do we do it alone or with a companion? The choice is yours. Fight. Survive. Hunt, or be hunted. It is all we can do, in truth we already have our paths chosen for us. Be it by the Fates, or something else entirely.

He nodded and pulled his coat a little tighter around him. The wind was begging to pick up a little more. He noticed the deer soon after she did. While she was shifting he pulled out his bow and knocked an arrow. He took a breath and raised it, pulling the string back as he sighted the deer in. When he was about to release it he just let the slack out of it, deciding instead to let her have the kill.

"What is it?" he asked as Grazer went rigid and looked into the woods his ears pricked forward. As Jason looked around an arrow whizzed by his cheek and embedded itself into the tree beside his head. In the span of a few seconds, he scanned the woods and found the culprit of the shot.

"Are you kidding me?" he mumbled as he noticed the two men on horseback, one was carrying a rather deadly looking sword and the other was carrying the bow he had fired at Jason. Jason tapped Grazers neck twice with one finger, then he quickly raised his bow and fired it at the bowman. The arrow flew straight and true until a wind gust caused it to veer slightly, so instead of going into the mans heart, it embedded deep into his shoulder. With a scream the man dropped his bow and fell from the saddle. As he attempted to re knock an arrow the swordsman began to ride towards Jason holding his blade high. Grazer did his job and went into the woods running through the trees, but the swordsman was slowly gaining on them.

As she was about to spring when the arrow embedded itself into the tree. She lifted her head causing the deer to run off, Brighid ignored it her attention on the two men on horseback. She watched as Jason strung an arrow with speed, he let it fly and it entered the archers flesh. Landing in the shoulder he went keening off his horse with a scream, the other male, the swordsman yelled and started to go after Jason.

Brighid growled and bounded after the two, leaving the male with the arrow in his shoulder, to the elements. She raced after Jason and the swordsman, she moved with ease through the trees and deep snow, her tail offering her balance and her paws distributing her weight evenly. She was fast her speeds reaching twenty to thirty miles per hour.

With a glance behind him Jason noticed that the swordsman was gaining, a glance around told him that Brighid was racing to catch up. He faced ahead again and saw a tree with a low hanging branch coming towards him. Taking his feet out of the stirupps he propped them on Grazers side, and at the right moment launched himself at the tree, his momentum causing him to swing all the way onto it. Turning around he clutched the branch and swung down sticking his feet out. His feet connected squarely into the mans chest and threw him from the saddle, unfoutanately Jason misjudged the speed that he was riding and was also thrown from the tree. But his trick did its job and the man was lying breathless in the snow his sword a few feet away, Jason stood up also winded and looked around for Grazer, he knew Brighid would soon be upon the man. If she wasn't, he would be in trouble, he had left his bow on the saddle.

He looked at the man as he stood up, pulling a dagger from its sheath on his waist. "Get ready to meet your maker." Jason clenched his fists and stared at the man hoping Brighid would arrive soon

As the man landed on the snow, Brighid came into view. Relying on instincts she attacked the man, her jaws going around his skull and her teeth sinking in. Her claws extended and tore at the soft flesh of his belly, they tore through the flesh with ease opening the abdominal cavity and spilling out over the crisp white snow staining it red.

As she took the mans life she purred, she tightened her grip on his skull. The pressure soon made it collapsed causing the brain to be crushed and punctured as well. When his heart ceased to beat she let go of his skull and lifted her pale gaze to the male who held a dagger in her grip.

With her pale coat stained with blood she growled at the male and started to drag the body into the trees. She struggled slightly with her prize but would fight for it before allowing it to go to waste.

When she was in the thicker part of the trees she began to feed, her snout sinking into the tender flesh of the abdomen, she tore flesh away and swallowed it. It settled in her stomach easing the gnawing hunger that had ravaged her for days.

Jason flinched as Brighid landed on the man, he watched as she tightened her jaws around his skull, and flinched again when he heard the skull crack loudly. Deciding to let her do what she wanted he whistled for Grazer, he arrived a short time later and nuzzled Jason softly.

"You did a good job boy." he smiled and sat in the snow with his back against a tree, the wind blew every once in a while and ruffled Jasons hair a bit. Grazer stood beside Jason flipping his ears as he listened to her eat her catch. Bored, jason took an arrow from his quiver and began to throw it into the snow in front of him, picking it up and then throwing it again trying to hit the same spot

Soon all that was left of the body was the intestines and strips of flesh on the arms and legs. She had eaten her fill, now she wouldn't have to hunt for at least a week. She left the body where it lay, as soon as she stepped away from it birds came down to claim the remaining scraps. She shook her head and rubbed her face in the snow trying to clean the blood from her pale fur but it was no use. Her fur was now matted with crystallized blood around her muzzle, on her neck and down her chest.

She stepped soundlessly out of the treeline and onto the path a few yard from the male and the stallion. She made a soft chuffing sound and then began to purr. She sat on her haunches and and starting licking her paws cleaning them of any blood left behind.

Jason glanced up when he heard purring, then looked back down as he continued throwing his arrow. "Feel better?" he asked continuing to throw the arrow. Grazer shuffled a bit and Jason pat his shoulder from the ground.

He glanced up at the sky a few seconds later then sighed. "Gonna have to set up camp soon....... and get my arrow." he leaned his head back against the tree twiddling the arrow in his thumbs. He sat there examining the fletching on the feathers near the notch

She cocked her head and lowering herself onto her stomach crawled to him. She put her bloodied muzzle in his lap and began to nuzzle him. It was rare for her to do this, with anyone but she had begun to trust the man even if only a little. Her tail flicked back and forth leaving impressions in the snow.

She closed her eyes, she was full and began to fall asleep with her head in his lap. She started kneading his thigh with her front paws her claws digging into his leg slightly. She huffed softly her breath coming out in a warm gust of air.

Muka, her Frostmarch mare nickered and walked up to the small party. Her reins dangled brushing the ground. Brighid opened one pale green eyes, when she saw Muka she wined softly. The mare huffed back to her and made her way to stand over near the stallion nuzzling him cautiously.
