The Gods' Perch

The Gods' Perch is a mountainside picnic area forty minutes in the hills that rise away from Thunder Bay, and face towards the glorious Mt. Skyinarta. Trails lead from the bayside community and wander off into the winding hills. While these hills are not as dangerous as the Unforgiving Proper, the trails are still treacherous and only those with a knowledge of the wilderness and how to survive in it, or with access to a Wind Eagle, are able to reach this picnic area: but the view, it is reputed, is well worth the wait.

Located on the flat, open side of a hill, The Gods' Perch has no trees or rocks to obscure the view from this lookout area. While the area is abundant with small shrubberies and, in the right season, flowers of all kinds, the space is mostly flat and open. Some have speculated that the area was cleared just to make way for the wooden picnic tables and benches that exist there, smooth and weathered by the winds, but the Inartans of Thunder Bay swear otherwise. Beautiful in Summer and Spring, but treacherously windy and dangerous in the colder months, The Gods' Perch is never closed off to those who wish to visit it, but it is ill-advised when the weather is sour.

The view is spectacular, looking towards the massive and imposing Mt. Skyinarta, away from the waters of Thunder Bay. Sheer cliffs and rolling hills spread as far as the eye can see, foliage bravely traversing as far up the mountainsides as oxygen allows. The best time to visit The Gods' Perch is at either sundown or sunrise, but the dark is a dangerous time to be out in the hills between Thunder Bay and Wind Reach. The Gods' Perch is an area extremely popular with couples, as the area is secluded, and the view, awe-inspiring.
