In the wake of the Djed Storm of 512AV, Mt. Skyinarta was irrevocably changed by the magical forces that churned within it. With Ivak's escape, the very structure and shape of the mountain was changed in the magical storm that followed. Avalanches of boulders occurred, ripping up the outside locations and walkways that the Inarta relied on the move throughout the city. Further up the mountain, closer to the crater where Ivak escaped and the Wind Eagles failed, there lies an open crevasse that has become known in the wake of the storm as simply 'The Crack in the Mountain'.
An open sliver of rock, this crack emanates a fiery heat reminiscent of the lava that lies within the open fissure of the Tomb of the Fallen. While Inartans struggle to look deep into the endless crack, for the blistering heat is too much for their skin, it is said that the fissure runs all the way into the heart of the mountain, into Ivak's abandoned cage. It is the pure heat of the Volcano that emanates from the crack. Red light glows within, a tempting call to look deep into the mountain, but it is best to stand back, no matter how entrancing. The rock that surrounds the fissure was discoloured by the djed. Most times, it appears as simple volcanic rock, but at sunrise and sundown, it reflects the reds, purples, oranges and burgundies of the setting or rising sun.
While the Inartans have only just learnt of Ivak and his presence in this world, with the geas on him being lifted, there are nonetheless followers of the god of emotional upheaval in Wind Reach. Those fiery hotheaded Inarta who have already begun to place faith in Ivak and his power are drawn to the Crack in the Mountain, where they prostrate themselves before the crack and pray to their god. A very informal and natural open altar, there is no ceremony here, no acts of devotion on display: simply Inartans offering their devotion to the Fire God in this new changed world of theirs.
