Zenobia raised her eyebrows, "To take oneself out of the cycle of change and recreation? Sounds an interesting concept, but it's an experiment I'd rather not do to myself." For it did indeed sound to her like an experiment, more than anything else. It was the pragmatic and almost cynical side to her, which sometimes appeared beneath her more romantic and whimsical nature... sometimes she almost didn't see the point in considering impossible things, at least not impossible points of a not necessarily positive nature. She was sensible to the compliment, even if he might not genuinely find it charming, and smiled in response. "Ah, your mother taught you manners? Mine did the same, but she equally tried to instil me with a sense of superiority, due to her being an Eypharian. Fortunately, and as much as I love her I have to breathe a sigh of relief, she did not succeed." Zenobia smiled, wondering if Aaryn was lightening up slightly. He had said that he rarely joked but she thought his face relaxed, and such a thing would be preferable, though sometimes she had to confess to finding a sort of reserved stiffness very endearing. "Despondent Philosopher? You might as well fill in the role of tragic anti-hero while you are at this train of thought. It seems to me that you might fit and have fun with such a part to play. As for what you can do for me? I don't need anything, so to speak, at the moment, but I suppose you could keep me company for a while longer and we could discuss the question at some length." Zenobia's face showed a mixture of amusement and interest. It was therefore, with a genuine desire to know more of the despondent philosopher that she moved slightly closer. |
