Jaai takes a rest after long, lonely days of travel though the wildlands

While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Kayle listened to both Jaai and Nemanjak. Kayle didn’t understand most of the conversation because he never really left his city, Syliras. As Jaai spoke with scepticism in his voice to the ape-like human, Kayle tended to Ren. Gently, he lifted her from his head to his arms. She continued clucking as Kayle stroked her fur, removing any debris that attached on to her. His heard Jaai’s last statement and an awkward smile comes on to Kayle's face.

“O-okay, Jaai. We can all be friends here you know.” Kayle said awkwardly.
“I’m also a bit ‘iffy’ with the story and reason too, but the living should get at least get a chance to portray themselves” Kayle said to Jaai.

Kayle looks at Nemanjak, rasing one brow. He examines him like Jaai before. He has never seen such a being before, it was indeed an ape, but with intelligence. Kayle was curious to know what this ape-like humanoid is.

“Ne- Nemank- Nemanje- umm… May I call you Neman for short?” Kayle asked
“What are you? I mean are you an Intelligent… animal… or are you a race?” Kayle added.

"Kindness is the weapon I wield. It's sharper, stronger and more powerful than any blade, and it penetrates someone's heart better than any arrow. it's power doesn't only come from the wielder, but from the hearts of many as well. Kindness isn't a weapon that should be taken lightly."

Music on the Wind

With that "If you dislike people, why did you follow the sound of the flute?" question Nemanjak had no special answer, all he could say was: "Trust me, if I knew you were bandits you'd be dead and out of gear and food right away, why do you think I was hiding in the trees and bushes? I mean, killing is how you survive in these Wildlands, or at least, that's how I have made it for all these years, of course, just bandits, and animals were harmed in my living here.

Nemanjak looked at Ka-Kay-Kayle? yeah, Kayle inspecting both him and his little furry companion. He answers Kayle's question of Neman for short: "Ehm, yeah, sure I guess, Neman, Nemanjak, Nem, same for me all in all, and no, I am no animal, I am, a... wait for it... a, Jamoura! Yes, a Jamoura those smart people. Wait, you never heard of us? I mean come on! We practically made The Spires, or so they say. Anyway, who's your furry little companion?

Jaai looked a little surprised at the word 'friend'. People had called him many things, but never 'friend'. "Well," Jaai said, snapping out of his thoughts "With Ren and me already being such good buddies and all, it would be awkward if the two of us weren't, Heh heh" Jaai said jokingly. Then the Ape spoke again.

Jaai took a step back instinctively. He had only gotten the gist of what he's said, about surviving by killing bandits and animals? He seemed to take killing so lightly. Jaai had heard that sort of thing stained you, and you could never be quite the same as you were before. Then again, he had not yet encountered a bandit. "If you are so confident you could kill us so easy, you wouldn't need to hide in the dang bushes." He muttered this in his native language so neither of them would understand, at least in this way, it was useful. Then he responded in common "I have not heard of you either, well maybe i've heard the Jamoura mentioned before..." But it was a different story to meet one. It was odd, seeing a walking, talking, intelligent ape.

Kayle looked at the newly nicknamed, Neman. He spoke of pillage and violence, the things Kayle detests. Kayle could never hurt an innocent. To Kayle, a person is innocent until proven to be guilty or ‘bad’. Kayle continued smiling at Neman, holding back his thoughts.

“No I haven’t heard of you, and what is this ‘Spire’ you speak of? I’ve never ventured far from my city, you see. Oh and this is my companion, Ren” Kayle informed Neman.

Kayle laughed with Jaai when he listened to his words. It was like he has never been called something nice in his whole life, then it struck him. “Could this person be… disconnected? A loner that people would turn a blind eye upon.” Kayle thought to himself. Empathy and understanding, It was like a sixth sense for Kayle. Kayle looks at Jaai with a slightly concerned look on his face, but then becomes over shadowed by his smile.

“You know, this cold air is quite chilling you know. Mind if I start a fire? I can see a few bits of dry kindling and wood lying around.” Kayle asked as he begun collecting the material.

Kayle sets up a small clearing in the ground, stacking the bits of wood in a pile, assuming that Jaai agreed. He places the kindling in the centre, and began to strike his flint and steel creating sparks. He continued striking the flint until the sparks caught on to the dry kindle which now contain a few embers. He then blew on the embers, feeding them oxygen until… a small flame grew. Carefully, Kayle nurtured the flame, making it grow to a reasonable size.

“There, nice and warm!” Kayle said as he brushed his hands together.
“Come on, don’t be shy. We should get to know each other more.” Kayle invited, beckoning for the others to sit by

Music on the Wind

Nemanjak is suprised that Kayle never heard of The Spire, but not that suprised and so he began to explain with a normal voice: "The Spire, a part of the Taldera region, it is literally built on the branches of some giant forest said to be a haven for scholars and mages. Or so say the stories of the Jamoura.

Nemanjak faces both Jaai and Kayle and began talking again: Anyway, by the looks of you folks I'd say you never killed anyone, am I right? So you probably see me as a... murderer, a man who does not care if he kills anyone, right? Well, you're wrong. I take it hard, but I have to survive some way or another. If I saw you were bandits, yes I'd kill you because you just kill others. If I saw you are an animal, I'd kill you if I was hungry, indeed. But, you are no threat, nor are you food to me. So I don't want to kill you.

He noticed the fire, and sat next to it, when he remembered his camp and rushed into the woods quickly telling them: "Forgot about my camp, coming back in a moment!

Jaai noticed the look of... Could that be concern? But no, it was gone, replaced with a friendly smile. Kayle suggested a fire and Jaai, suddenly swear of the biting cold wind again, agreed readily. "That'd be nice" Jaai moved to help him collect wood and soon enough Kayle had started a warm blaze. While this was happening, he listened to the ape justify himself.

"Oh great, I'm glad you've desired you don't want to kill us..." Jaai muttered under his breath feeling like this guy was a fight waiting to happen. He sat down by the fire, slightly closer to Kayle than he was to Neman. He was almost a little glad when Neman left momentarily. "Weirdo." He muttered in Tawna just in case Neman somehow heard.

For once, the big talker didn't know what to say. He hadn't had anyone who he could safely call friend for... Years. The only attention he got was from those who he pissed off or stole from. Finally he settled on small talk "You said you lived in sylirus then? What is it like living there?"

Everyone was gathered around the fire. Neman opposite to Kayle, and Jaai sat in between, favouring Kayle's side. Neman Began explaining more and more about his ways, this only concerned Kayle more. He looks at Jaai, noticing he was annoyed by Neman’s boosting. However, Kayle gestured Jaai not to fight. If a fight were to occur, someone will fall in the fire by accident and would most likely be seriously injured.

“I see.” Kayle said to Neman, rubbing his hands towards the fire.

Kayle looked to the side of himself greeting Jaai into his view. Kayle gives Jaai a smile followed by a chuckle, Jaai looked as if he had run out of material to speak about. After a short moment, Jaai asked Kayle a question about his life in Syliras. Kayle smiled, this smile wasn’t happy however. The smile showed neither happiness nor sadness, but nostalgia.

“Well… The city is great, quite peaceful… but I never really spent my life in the main part of the city. I was always at Sunset Falls, where the sunshine meets the waterfall, it’s truly beautiful. However, after my mother died, I’ve lived alone in a tent by that waterfall I mentioned. I guess I never really lived civilised most of my life. I had no family to turn to, nor will anyone look after me…” Kayle looked at Jaai and Neman with his smile slowly fading away.

Kayle was a loner as a child. His personality now was far different when he was a child. Back then people would turn their heads, and reject that Kayle was in need of help. That is why he knows what Jaai could be feeling. Kayle slaps his face and wears his iconic smile.

“But that’s in the past” Kayle said grinning at Jaai.

Kayle tended to the fire as he pulls a ration out of his bag. Kayle disliked the rations cold and sloppy texture, so he wondered what would happen if he dried it out of the fire. He placed the soggy piece of mystery food on a stick and placed it in the fire, and waited for it to be cooked. As he waited he in turn asked Jaai a question.

“So, What about you? What’s your back ground?” Kayle asked with a warm smile.

Music on the Wind

Postby Nemanjak on February 22nd, 2013, 4:08 pm

(By the way Kayle, Nemanjak is currently running to camp not at the camp fire)

Nemanjak runs towards his camp as fast as possible swinging from tree to tree. He jumps down the last tree and runs towards his tent. He grabs some food, water, his family's daggers and a helmet and he puts the helmet on, and places the daggers in the hidden pockets of his camouflage armor. He then began to walk back to those 2, what were their names, Jaai and Kayle in a normal pace, enjoying the beauty of the Wildlands.

Music on the Wind

Postby Jaai on February 22nd, 2013, 4:37 pm

His story affected Jaai more than he would let on. He knew all to well what it was to have no one to turn to. The one thing he had not experienced was a death of a parent... But Jaai had experienced the death of someone who he'd thought of as a mother. Jaai had spent his years up until now wandering, stealing, and desperately calling out for attention. Jaai's expression was sympathetic, eyes down turned. He busied himself by searching his pack for something to eat.

His hand returned with some mixed nuts, berries and rasions. It wasn't yet evening, but mid afternoon, by the position of the sun. Jaai was about to work himself up to saying something in response to his story but Kayle brushed the topic aside with the comment 'its in the past'. He then asked Jaai for his background. Jaai didn't normally talk about himself. He didn't want to dredge up his lovely childhood, so he kept it simple.
"My background is with the Chaktawe people of the deserts. I'm half Chaktawe, but I don't know who my father is, all I know is that he was not... A good man"

Jaai looked up at the clouds with a neutral, if slightly unhappy expression only indicated by the minute crinkle of his brow"I didn't fit there, so I've been traveling ever since,"

(Sorry about this, but I'm probably going inactive a bit so if I don't post for like 10 hours after Kayle posts, just switch it to Jaai's turn ending up like I'm still walking in the woods)
