Weather Warning (Giannya)

Lesson: Master Nightstone sends Aarias out in the blizzard in search for stragglers who need assistance.

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Aarias' face turns to a stern one once he breaks eye contact with her and looks to the landscape before them. While squinting, he can just make out the tent and its worn off-white color against the white.

"The thing, Lady Craftsilk, is that I don't feel sick. In all honesty, I don't. The cold disrupts my throat at times and coughing ensues." While smiling down at her, she might be able to tell that he is telling the truth. None the less, there is a chance that sickness could be brewing within him. You always feel the effects of a cold the day after.

"You are very kind, Lady Craftsilk. I hope your brother comes back safely to your home and does not mind a weary warrior such as myself staying the night." They come up to her tent, Aarias rubbing the side of his strider before leading him to rest under a small awning to at least shield him from the falling snow. He slaps the underside of the awning, having some of the collected snow bounce off. There is no doubt he got snow all over himself but it's better than the awning collapsing over night from the weight.

He then wraps the fur blankets and knots them or ties them to the Yvas so they don't get taken by the strong wind. After unhooking his bag from the Yvas, he quickly paces inside the tent.

Warmth. Oh how good it felt to feel his body literally defrost from hours spent outside. Noting that Giannya's brother is not here, he frowns once more. After rubbing the icy snow from his stubble, he wipes as much as he can from him by the doorway.

"Where would you like me to sit?" He asks, looking to her as she starts the small fire. "Thank you again." He makes his way to the fire in order to gain the prickly feeling in his body again. At least I know I haven't frozen to death and this isn't some dream. He gives off a throaty chuckle, the grin appearing once again on his face. Every feeling soon returns to his body, the hot prickles turning his skin red as his external temperature warms up.

Noting that she never answered his question from before, he asks it again. "I am assuming your brother left the tent to get some food?" He takes the soup from her with a strong grip on the bowl, making sure his fingers have thawed enough to hold his food.

"Have you lived out here in the Sea of Grass all your life? I am sorry to hear about your family. It's just you and your brother, hm? Tomorrow I shall help you find him if he doesn't return tonight. It's too late to search for him unless you want to freeze to death out there."

Weather Warning (Giannya)

Postby Giannya on February 22nd, 2013, 2:31 am

Giannya looks over at him and grabs a seat, sliding it over infront of the fire. She sits down and pats the place beside her.

- My brother is gone to get food, he always goes hunting and I make the food after. I make the clothes for him to go in the cold weather so he feels better. We can wait until tomorrow, she says, hoping that nothing bad as happened to her brother. Maybe he'll be back tonight. Are you sure that you are not hurt? she asks, looking at his face, in the light the fire did.

Giannya covers her chilled arms and narrows her eyes. She stands up and grabs a blanket she made and hand it over to him. She walks to the corner and grab some water for them both. She sits back beside him and smiles.

- Enough about me. Tell me please more about yourself, she says, watching him, ready to listen, curiously.

Weather Warning (Giannya)

Postby Aarias on February 22nd, 2013, 3:08 am

Aarias sits down on the warped bench, many years of experience seen in the marks made by time and working hands. He is careful to take up as much of the bench as his strong figure needs but not to get in her way. The light illuminates every crease of his tanned face. The whiskers of his jaw draw small lines depending on where the light hits them.

"He does?" Aarias comments mainly to himself, "But you also know how to use a bow. I remember seeing one slung across your back when I first approached." His mind turns to his strider, "Do you have a pail? I wish to fill one with snow and leave it by the fire for a little to melt so Nevzor has something to drink. I have some food in my bag. I wish to feed him before I sit down to relax and eat."

As he talks, the bowl comes down on the nearest surface. Aarias turns around, his eyes scanning his surroundings for a container big enough for his strider. Moving to his bag, the old leather greeting his fingers as he unbuckles the straps and rummages around for some of Nevzor's food.

Once standing, he moves to take a seat again as to not be rude or anything. His fingers search the blanket, feeling the cloth before setting it down where he sat as he once again stands.

"Once I return, I will be happy to tell you anything and everything you wish to hear about me." The smiles flickers onto his face.

Giannya smiles happily and nods, watching him, intrigued. She cross her arms, covering herself with a blanket too.

- I don't have anything in specific I'd like to know. I'd just like to know more about you, anything you can tell me and I'll listen, she says, open-mindly, moving and grabs a bowl with soup in it too.

She eats quietly, watching his face and every details, like his jaw and his fingers around the bowl. She bits her lips, softly and let her head fall back a bit to drink the rest of the soup in her bowl. She puts the bowl down on the solid ground and all her attention goes back to him, again.

Her hands are palms down to her thighs and her eyes shining in the light. She lifts one of her hand and brushes one of her curls that always ends up falling from her braids, behind her ear.

- What about your family? You told me you had an older brother right? Is that all...

Aarias can be quite charming when he wants to be. Silently, he hopes that his manners don't reveal his more reserved side. What will I tell her? There are only so many hours left in the night for them to talk and so much bulk to talk about.

Through and through, the qualities that make this man a warrior overshadow everything else. Evident in his bulky form, he has trained from a young age. His muscles have grown over time in both endurance and power. The young life in his eyes already dedicated to his life as a warrior.

"May I use this?" He asks, reaching over to grab a beaten bucket hiding in the shadows. The firelight emphasizes any dings and dents that may be there from age. After passing inspection, Aarias looks back at Giannya and wait for her answer. The six foot Drykas stays aloof, not moving towards the door or sitting down just yet.

"My family? There is not too much to tell as far as people go. My brother Vacien and I live near our uncle. My parents died when I was very young, neither Vacien or I remember them but I don't mind it. You could say I know my parents from afar, through stories and memories of the ones who did know them. My uncle, Terrasar, has raised my brother and I. We have been pushed from a very young age to become warriors like he is."

Those blue eyes turn to the rustling sheets of the tent as the wind picks up. His stare is concentrated as if he were looking at someone through the cloth. But, of course, no one is there, the shadows would have given them away. Perhaps the young man was just lost in a memory or worried about his strider.

Giannya listens to him, carefully and quiet. She smiles and nods, interested but feels sad when she hears about his parents, having to live the same feelings because her parents died too.

- You can use it, she explains, watching him and then wondering what he'll do with it, why he needs it.

She looks around her and at where he's looking, wondering what's there but notices he's just lost in thoughts nd sighs, softly.

- Worried for your brother? she asks, gently and put a hand on his, softly. Don't be, he's older and can take care of himself, that's what you told me before right? He'll be back, you can go back to him tomorrow... she says, carefully. The wind won't be as strong as today and not as cold, I hope.

Thoughts move from his strider, to his brother when she comments and then finally to Cellia. He instantly starts to smile, remembering their time together when she was in Endrykas with her father. Reality comes singing back and he blinks, shaking his head a bit when he feels her hand on his boney one. Smiling politely is all he feels he can do, recoiling once a few seconds pass to the tent flap.

"I can?" He rhetorically states, nodding once and then again, "My thoughts are all over the place with this blizzard. Friends, family, coworkers... they're all on my mind." After clearing his throat he continues to speak, "But yes, Vacien can take care of himself but I just know he -must- be worrying about me being out here in a blizzard."

During his small speech, he half opens the tent, feeling the chill of the wind once more. A shiver makes its way up his spine. The food is safely inside the pail, "I'll be right back. Yes, I hope the wind will die down and the blizzard will settle as well." Comes his words of assurance as he departs from the warm room into the bitter cold world.

He moves over to Nevzor and offers him a pail. "I can't wait for winter to be over." Aarias whispers, a childish grin on his face, knowing his dreams are far from reality. The rough sensation comes across Aarias' hand as he scoops the oats from the pail, allowing his strider to eat them from his palm. He could just set the pail down and allow Nevzor to bow his head into it but Aarias wishes to nurture his connection and be the one to feed his happy, but cold, strider.

"I got another letter from Cellia." The thick vapor from his mouth swirls around the space between them. "She will be coming here in the spring. I sent her another letter before receiving the current one and told her about the Pox. Nothing would be worse than her and her father coming here for the winter and catching the sickness. I wouldn't be able to bare it. But come the spring and we will see her! Perhaps even go to Zeltiva ... I think that's the name, and catch a glimpse of her life."

Aarias speaks quietly to his strider as he is fed and once the oats are all gone, he scoops up a heaping pile of snow. "Do you want water or just... " He tips the bucket in Nevzor's direction, the horse seemingly nodding his head. "You're so strange." Comes the chuckle and Aarias empties the bucket by Nevzor, repeating the motion over and over until there is a large pile of snow at his feet.

"So very strange." Nevzor simply dips his head and eats the snow. "I guess I don't have to worry about you not getting enough to drink. If you move, just don't go too far you adventurous nut." His strider lets out a hard breath, Aarias rolling his eyes. He, foolishly forgetting the first time, removes the Yvas moves back to the inside of the tent.

"All taken care of." He informs Giannya, moving over to place the Yvas down by his bag. Once sitting on the seat again, he finally starts eating his lukewarm soup.

Weather Warning (Giannya)

Postby Giannya on February 23rd, 2013, 4:12 am

Giannya smiles adorably at him, thinking to herself a bit and stands up. She walks to her bed and grabs a small jacket in fur she made herself, earlier today and puts it on her, leaving it hanging on her shoulders. She sighs quietly, a few times before walking back to the seat beside him. She sits down and grabs the bowl to finish what's left in it to eat.

Giannya stands up again and makes her way to the corner, where the fire is lightening up the tent and warming them both a bit. She smiles a bit and pours a few ml of water in it. She moves it ontop of the fire with something to hold it still so she doesn't burn her small hands and looks at the water inside. It slowly starts warming up and making bubbles in the clay pottery bowl she made earlier this week, without burning the clay. Quite fascinating, she thinks and wraps a fur around the bowl to take it to the seat.

When she sits down, she grabs a small clothe and sank it in the water. She lifts it to her face and presses it to her cheeks, to her nose, to her forehead and to her eyelids, feeling good because the water is so warm. It makes her peaceful, relaxed and not nervous. She feels her tense muscles relax a bit and breathes, quietly. She opens her eyes to stare at him, curiously.

- If you want some water, there's more over there, she said, pointing to the corner. You culd use it to warm up, or just relax. If you need to clean yourself too, there's more. But I bet you'd like to use cleaner water, she says, narrowing her icy blue eyes.

She peeks over at the tent door and frowns, hearing the wind outside, blow loudly and wonders when she'll sleep and if it'll be easy, even with this much noise. She'll also have trouble if her brother isn't there, she'll feel anxious and a bit scared for him.

- If you need clean sleeping clothes, you could use my brothers one, he has some on his bed that I made him but her worn it a few times. If you prefer to not wear what he already did, I can also make you some clothes, but it'll take longer and you,ll have to wait until you go to sleep... Unless you're okay to sleep in what you are now?

Weather Warning (Giannya)

Postby Aarias on February 24th, 2013, 12:27 am

"How did you come to be living in the Sea of Grass? Isn't it dangerous? I would think after losing your parents, may they join the web with open arms, you would have come to Endrykas to seek shelter. Or do you not care for the company of a large moving city?"

He continues to eat his lukewarm soup, being sure not to slurp the broth or drop any of it on himself. "You're kind but sleeping in my clothes will be what I prefer. Makes it easy to get up and get moving since I will go out and try and find your brother."

The grin plays back on his face, "Washing up would be a bad idea - I would like to keep myself as unclean as possible so Master Nightstone, the man who sent me out into this blizzard for training, won't think I snuck back to Endrykas and spent the night there." He shakes his head, placing his bowl on his lap as he pushes his knotted hair from his face.

"I appreciate the offer and the shelter very much. I just hope your brother is found tomorrow or comes home. I do not think it wise to wear his clothing because I would not wish to have someone I don't know wear mine."

He raises a brow, looking back at Giannya, "You cannot simply -make- clothes in such a short time. I have never heard someone claim to be so skilled that they could create something within ... what? The handful of hours we have left until sleep should settle over us. Quite the words, Giannya." Aarias' voice is not mocking her, he just seems genuinely surprised she would say such a thing.

Chuckling to himself, he brings his bowl back up in his hands and starts to eat it once again. His growling stomach calming down. "If you want some bread, I have a loaf from my home." Aarias offers after taking another large sip.

Weather Warning (Giannya)

Postby Giannya on February 24th, 2013, 12:45 am

Giannya chuckles softly too and makes sure not to say anything about his remark but she knows that she can be very quick when it comes to making clothes. She was born with that skill, otherwise, she wouldn't have alot of skills except her voice when she sings, which doesn't come really handly and her healing skills. She always loved helping others, so that one came in handly, though she couldn't help her mom when she died.

She slowly looks down at her lap and places her hands ontop. She rubs them together, gently to keep them warm and sighs.

- See, my family and I are quite the quiet ones. We don't really like big crowds and groups. We prefer small housing and small family. Closer together. This tent is okay for us, though at this time of year it's cold. Since my mom died, we never had the idea to move because we don't want to forget how she died, we want to be strong like she was and fight for our life like she did in her honour, she admits, her face looks a bit sad now and her eyes are almost closed.

She stands up and walks to her bed. She bents down and stretch her hand under the bed, slowly and stands back up. Giannya walks over to him and hands him a drawing her brother made of her mother when she was younger,

- This was a couple of months before my mom died. My brother drew her when she was asleep. He always loved watching her sleep, weird right... she whispers, a small smile playing on her pale lips. She looked so peaceful when she slept. I remember, she used to sing us songs before we went to sleep and it made us forget all the problems and the dangers around here. She had a lovely voice, she whispers while she wraps arms around herself.

She looks back at him, after a while of looking lost in thoughts and shakes her head.

- No, thanks, she says, refusing the bread. I'm good.
