Spring 7th early noon
Despite Perc's patron having told him that today was going to be a training free day, one of the few ones he was going to have, and so that he was best off enjoying it by sleeping longerand general relaxing. But Perc wasn't having none of that, he was so used to getting up before syna was already in the sky that even if he had tried to sleep longer he wouldn't have managed anyway. So he just tried to keep himself busy. At first he wandered around the city, trying to get a good idea of the layout of the massive castle. But after the first few hours even the farmboy who never really got a good idea of how the big city of syliras looked, even he began to become bored from the parts of syliras.
After the farmboy had enough of the mundane area's of syliras he began to make his way towards the training ground, he had been told of where they where yesterday and he was quite interested in the place where he probably was going to end up spending a lot of time anyway. Better to know where it was sooner hen later. Even though he managed to get lost a few times on the way he finally managed to arrive at the training spot. And for a few moments Perc could just stare dumbfounded at the look. Bizarre architecture dotted what used to be a roof on Syliras' mighty citadel, creating a myriad of training environments that the squires could be tested in. And squires where already starting their training, the clattering of weapons of all sorts and grunts of exertion sounded all over the place.
Perc slowly began moving forward, looking around in awe at the training that was going on. Something about the sight really made the newly christened squire exited to begin his training tomorrow. Heck maybe he could find somebody who didn't mind giving him some basic early lessons. There had to be somebody in this group of working squires and knights who could help him out with that. His eye fell on a familiar figure standing to the side. He quickly made his way over, a friendly smile on his face. “Hey Kreig! Didn't think I would be seeing you here? How you doing?” The youth said in a loud voice to catch the mans attention. |

Sleep eluded Kreig the previous night, having to get accustomed to his surroundings along with his new room mates didn't quite allow him to pleasure of sleep.... not that sleep allowed him much comfort with all the dreams he'd been having. He would start his training the day after tomorrow so he thought he'd get a little familiar with the training grounds. When he arrived there it looked a bit odd, it looked like a heavy mishmash of various terrain with some of theme either being a slope upwards or a pit. He could see sand, grass, rocky terrain and simple squares of flat stone earth decorating portions of it. He could also see various training equipment ranging from a few simple posts to advanced training dummies strewn about.
The number of knights and squires training there were many, dedicated to improving their skills for the Knighthood and to uphold their sworn oath to protect the city. Kreig's mind felt sluggish however, and as he lay a hand on his gauntlets which hang freely at his side by a string, his mind relaxed only slightly. He then turned his head at the voice calling out to him "Perc...." He nodded to the man with a slight grin that hid his discomfort, Perc was the youngest of his room mates within the suite they shared "I am well dear boy, though to be honest I find myself adapting poorly to my surroundings.... it's quite different then what I am used to" From what Kreig observed of the young man from the previous night, he lacked a certain inhibition over his mouth and Kreig himself wasn't quite in the mood for the boy's lack of thought whenever he spoke, he simply hoped he had someplace other than here to go to " I was only here to see the where we will be training, never seen anything like it I will admit. What of you? here for the same reason I gather or did your patron wish to get started on your training as soon as possible?" |

The slight discomfort Kreig was feeling went right over Perc's head. He let the comment about him being a boy slide he was only 19 winters old, barely a man even by his own standards. "I can believe that, you came from sunberth right? It got to be a huge shift in nearly everything." Perc said in a friendly tone. "I'm here for more or less the same reason. Though I'm hoping I can get some training in myself if one of the squires here doesn't mind. I'm already behind 7 years on the majority of the squires so every day I can work to close that gap I gotta take." Perc said with a smile on his face as he looked towards the many squires training. "You're right about it being a sight to see. Though it probably isn't going to be fun training here in the winter when it is hailing and you are freezing your arse off." the farmboy continued talking, clearly not intending to move on and leave kreig by himself.
"Then again maybe you can help me out with that. Judging from those banged up fighting gauntlets you got a lot of practice with fist fighting." |

'Banged...up?!' The corners of Kreig's lips twitched ever so slightly at the mention, now admittedly Kreig was quite attached to his guantlets, aged and perhaps better to be melted down to a trinket. He knew that but in his current mental state that was a trigger for a well hidden rage, one he was trying to keep under fierce control as Perc knew not of the significance these gauntlet's represent to Kreig, they were precious mementos from the past and his closest friends.
"Practice...isn't quite the word I would use, rather I would say plenty of application. I'd be happy to show you a 'thing or two' in a ....friendly.... little spar" He said in a friendly tone that barely concealed the rage within him 'Calm down now Kreig, he's but naive to the ways of the world, nor does he know that weapon's are weapons when applied skillfully....or a death warrant when applied carelessly' But as much as he tried to calm himself, it was also an outlet of sort, a release for some of the pent up frustrations "Of course, I'd be taking off my 'bent up' gauntlets, wouldn't want to kill a fellow squire by accident" |

Perc was completely unaware of kreighs sudden switch in mood as soon as he had said the man's gauntlets where banged up. And he completely missed the barely veiled undertone of rage beneath his kindly tone as well. "They do look rather thoroughly used yes. Maybe you could check the armory later if you can't get a replacement for them. I don't doubt they have a fitting pair. Or that they could get one made." Perc continued with a friendly smile, glad that he got some conversation going with kreig and completely unaware of the fact he was digging himself only deeper and deeper into this particular pit.
As kreig accepted his offer of a friendly spar Perc got really exited. "Sounds good for me kreig. I really wouldn't want you accidentally busting my head open before my training would even have begun. That would just be a real cruel joke." Perc rambled as he looked around for a suitable place for them to beat on each other without squires already using it. Finding a place being unused was pretty hard, even as early as now, but eventually he saw a simple area without any obstacles not to far away. "how about we take our friendly spar to that one. it looks simple enough for what we are going to do ?" |

Kreig had to tell himself repeated as he put on a false smile and gritted his teeth that he should hold back, that his anger was misplaced. Compared to Kreig, Perc looked athletic enough to throw a pretty solid punch…. But Kreig simply know how to punch harder and had much more experience backing him than the naïve Perc. Kreig doubted he needed to move much as he was certain the farm boy had never been into many a fight, even a simple bar brawl. But that did nothing to curve his irritation and anger for having his Gauntlets being called old, banged up and REPLACEABLE! “Y-yes, over there seems decent”
His eyes twitched as his desire to harm to desire fought with the logic his mind was trying to instill within him his emotions going ‘ BEAT HIM UP YA IDIOT’ while his mind went ‘ Kreig, the dear boy has absolutely no realization of what he said, and you’re merely frustrated with your new surroundings…..If you must, just give the boy one strong punch and leave it at that” Well, no one said he didn’t have a violent mind but it seemed his emotions were satisfied with the compromise as he and Perc stood in the patch “Ready…when you are dear Perc” Kreig grinned devilishly at this moment as he took a battle stance, his fists admittedly raised in a way a thug would. While it looked simple it did hide the years of experience under his belt and Perc did seem to realize Kreig was good with his fists… He just lacked a proper sense of danger. |

Perc cracked his knuckles and brought his hands up in a clumsy fighting stance, mimicking the one kreig was using actually. The big framboy, while rather dense, was far from stupid and he knew kreig was a lot better at fighting then him. So trying to mimic the guy's techniques seemed like a sound idea to him.
When the older man gave him the first shot perc didn't hesitate. The farmboy took a quick step towards kreig as soon as the words had left his mouth and aimed a wide punch towards the mans stomach with all the strength he could get behind that fist. Trying to knock the wind out of him by suprise. It didn't matter if kreig blocked or not, or if the first punch made contact at all.The tall farmboy wasn't going to back out after a single punch.
He kept trying to hit kreig with followup punches, using once again all hte force he could muster. It was obvious Perc relied more on brute strength and trying to get his opponent to the ground quickly then any kind of technique other then how to throw a punch. |

To say Kreig saw that punch coming was an understatement, he could see it so well that he was rather certain of where it will hit. Perc's shoulder moved so widely that he could see the elbow of his pulled back arm s suddenly let it loose. Kreig had raised a knee and brought his elbows towards his abdomen. The full force of the punch was impressive enough, but the elbows and knees were one the hardest parts of the body and the fact that Kreig brought them up before Perc's blow connected meant they could absorb the majority of it, of course it still quite hurt but it was simply an annoyance.
Perc then followed up with a series of identical or similar punches, each as predictable as the last, but this time Kreig merely dodged them with simple movements 'This...is all he's got?' Kreig thought, indeed Perc didn't have much combat experience behind him, if anything Kreig could simply continue dodging while waiting for Perc to expend all his energy.... or he could simply make use of the many openings that are apparent with Perc's inexperienced movements.
After doing a bit more thinking than he'd like he stopped dodging Perc's next punch and simply grabbed his fist, applying pressure on it to make the farm boy feel a bit of pain. Then he raised is left hand in a straight opened palm and well...Slapped the farm boy three times in succession and spoke "DON'T....INSULT....MY GAUNTLETS" Then let his fist go and waited for him to strike again. |

Perc's opinion of the man was raising starkly at the moment as he easily took his first punch and dodged the rest of his punches without breaking a sweat. Even though Perc knew he wasn't that good a fighter it was still impressive in his opinion.
And then the man did something Perc wouldn't have seen coming. After he punched the man grabbed his arm,the slight bit of pain from the pressure kreig was putting on him wasn't really much of a problem for perc he had felt worse. But when the man yelled at him that he shouldn't insult his gauntlets, punctuating each word with a slap to his face. Perc was flabbergasted for a few moments, before trying to wrench his arm out of the man's grip and trying to take some distance. The slaps didn't really hurt, but a red mark was already forming on the cheek Perc had been slapped and while it didn't hurt much, it still stung enough to be fairly irritating.
"err, sure Kreig," Perc began to say, weither he managed to get some distance in between them or not. "I'm sorry for calling them banged up. I didn't know they where important to you." Perc genuinely apologized. Keeping a sharp eye out for anything that could be a sign of an attack, he knew attacking aimlessly wasn't helping anything so he went on the defensive for a while as he tried to figure out what he could do. |

"heheh...Sorry...Family heirlooms and great memories" He said with a reassuring and apologetic grin "Now you must have not been in a lot of fights....You got size, you got strength but you make a maniac like me appear to be a master of great magnitude" Kreig said theatrically as he waved his hands about and rested his fingers on his chest "Now a guy like me would love to have your build to be honest, but lets not go into that...."
He stared at his giant 'pupil' "since your playing the waiting game, make sure you focus on my eyes and from there you should see my body. Actually, even if you aren't waiting, keep your eyes on mine" Kreig smiled widly as he leaned forward " Your eyes focused, you get to guess what move I pull next. The body gives these signs after all, with a move from my shoulder I could be getting ready to throw a punch. I could slouch slightly and might move at you will all the speed I could muster" He demonstraded promptly as he rushed forward, His shoulders moved forward then back as moved his hands and clasped Percival by the shoulder " And I could probably do this " He said as he brought back his head and threw himself forward, his head attempting to connect with Perci's own |
