Summer 32, AV 512
Near Sunberth

...It all happened too quickly that Arckhebohn couldn't even notice where he was. He was chasing some kind of animal and concentrated it too much to think about anything else. His soul was burning as he was trying to get his pray. He enjoyed it too much to think of anything else...

It was a really warm summer day which was though for both Arckhebohn and Eida. His friend couldn't stand the sun's shine so they were waiting for the sunset. When the night came he noticed that he didn't eat anything on that day because he was protecting his friend all day. And they ate all their food yesterday which was quite the problem especially for him because the Ethaefal didn't need any food at night. After a small talk they decided to split up so he could get some food for himself. Arckhebohn left his bag to his companion including his clothes. He wouldn't need it anyway when he changes his shape.

It was still early in the night and there was a lot of opportunity to get some food. Summer is his favourite hunting season because he can find every kind of animal and fruit almost everywhere. If he would be a lazy person he could have find some peaches in minutes but he wanted some excitement. Even if he was hungry he had his full strength and because of that his senses were sharper too. Before looking for anything he took his time to stretch his wings. It was still a bit unusual for him to stay in human form for hours. The warm breeze felt good for him and could also do some manoeuvre. He liked to try out new moves not because it was important but he had fun when he did so.

When he felt ready he flew towards the moon to see what lies that was. He didn't hurry yet it felt like he was moving so fast. Every now and then he landed on a branch carefully to look around and to rest a bit. On the third or the fourth stop he noticed that something was moving in a bush. He didn't want to rush and waited patiently until he saw what lies in it. He noticed that the bush was next to a nut tree. According to his knowledge there couldn’t be that much animal who would love nuts but before he could think about it more the mysterious animal revealed itself: it turned out to be a squirrel. Arckhebohn was just about to catch it but then it would be too boring. It was an easy prey for him. He cawed to make the squirrel notice him which reacted as Arckhebohn waited. It started to run.

It was a brilliant chase and he never felt himself that good. The little mammal was very clever and quick too so he had to do his best to keep up with it. When he was getting tired of the swift flying he searched for a moment to get that animal. He took it in his claws then in an instant he crushed it. Then he decided to take a rest and eat while it's fresh. He didn't know then, that he was flying so far and so close to a city called Sunberth.

Raven Meeting (Leith)

The forests of the Syliras region teemed with wildlife, for a hunter like her this meant meals and profit. There was always someone in the city who was hungry and depending on who she sold to she either went very low to help them or high to take advantage of their wealth. She didn’t really care about the money, it was just an aspect of life that made one able to survive. For her it was not really all that important for she was an animal first and human second. She enjoyed the city, its activity, there was never a dull moment. However she was not in the city this time, she was perched in her tree nestled in the hole that gave her a commanding view of her territory. In its branches were the others of the flock or as humans called a flock of ravens, the Unkindness. Even though she could take a human shape, she was kin to them and they appreciated her contributions, especially as it made it easier to feed their young. Littered around the tree were the bones of many a kill, some still being made a meal.

Sunberth had a wealth of things to offer the flock, especially her as she could choose to run on two legs and get things easier should she wish. In this hole she had stashed her belongings, though she’d done it first as a human, the hole big enough to stash her bag and clothing, but leaving plenty of room for her to build a comfortable nest. Littered around it were things she had picked up or rather flown off with because she liked how they glittered. Stealing shiny things was more a habit of crows, a thing she inherited from her parents as they had been Crow Kelvics. Something about polished metals, gems, even simple polished stones appealed to her. Even light reflecting off water attracted her attention, she just loved how light played off them. The morning sun was especially beautiful reflected on her treasures which made her happy as her home faced that direction. She ruffled her feathers stirring from her nap, fluttering out of her nest to a nearby branch to preen a wing thoughtfully.

She decided it would be best to hunt, she was hungry and so after making sure her ink black feathers were as pristine as always she flew off in search of a meal. She spotted a dark shape in pursuit, this made her curious for the way this raven flew it had more cunning and thought that what she usually saw from her normal cousins. She followed the stranger till it brought down its prey, she landed on a branch making more noise than she’d normally do. It wasn’t polite to sneak up on others and if this one was a cousin she’d be able to scare him off, for with a closer examination this stranger was a ‘he’. He didn’t look familiar to her, he wasn’t part of her flock, so then was he moving in or passing through? If he was a cousin she’d see if she could find him a place, but if he was like her, well he better not be trying to move in to her turf. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her own kind, she just didn’t want to share, another like herself could mean competition and she didn’t want that.

Raven Meeting (Leith)

Before eating his pray he was kind of starving. He didn't think about that it might be better to just hunt down it really quick and then eat it but the feeling he had changed his mind of doing it. But now that it's over he couldn't resist the hunger and instead of make sure that the place is safe he was starting to rip out the mammal's raw flesh. He didn't take his time and some minutes later he finally realised the situation. Because he was always travelling he could easily see what the time is. But he was shocked for a moment with that thought. ~ Was I hunting for more than 2 hours...? ~ He was worried about his companion and thought that she might be scared all alone. After all they are not used to walk separately.

But it wasn't the only thing. He also noticed that he flew quite far away. Like he was in a different part of the forest. Nothing seemed familiar to him which was a trouble because he had no idea the dangers what might lies around here. There could be some wild animals here which also hunt in night. Or in the worse case - what he always feared - a human or some kind of devilish creature who wants to take his life away or to capture him. If he would move now or make a sudden act then that could take his life. So he decided to continue eating and to look around. That way he might see if something is watching him or/and where could he fly if there would be danger. The trees were still all green and only a couple of leaves were on the ground. It might have caused by some animal which either lived on the tree or landed there. Then he was watching the ground. Thanks to the moonlight he could easily look around. He noticed some smaller and some bigger traces too but the biggest might have been a wolf. They didn't seem very old, maybe it was an hour or two ago when it was here. After this he felt a bit better but he learned that never let his guard down.

And he was right. Behind him he heard some noise which came from a tree. He was sure that it's another bird because he knew that kind of noise. And to be honest with himself that noise felt really familiar. He doubted and thought that it's just his imagination. No matter what, he had to act now. If it really is another bird then he has no way to escape because he couldn't fly that fast up to the sky. Especially if it is predator - he would be done for before reaching the top of a tree. The other option was to see who that is and then he might defend himself somehow. Even if he was a hunter he has never fought with another bird. He didn't like to and if he could do that he avoided them. But now he couldn't risk to just flying away.

He turned around where he heard the noise and then - though it took longer than he thought - he saw it. He couldn't believe in his eyes: it was another raven. But it wasn't all. He could also see that it's not an ordinary one but a Kelvic. A female Kelvic. She was beautiful and Arckhebohn couldn't think of anything. It was like a dream. A load of questions were in his mind but he freezed onto the ground and wasn't able to move. Not even an inch. It was caused by the fact that he met another Kelvic and not even a different one but from the same species. He was looking at her and tilted his head to show his curiosity and to make her see that he noticed her. He didn't know why but he wasn’t sure that she will attack or not. Maybe the surprise or his curiosity made him think that. But he wanted to know more about her and especially the reason why she was watching him.
