This is Falyndar at its finest. Danger lurks everywhere - in the ground, in the trees, in the bush. Only the strongest survive...

Often called the Rainbringer's Waterfall, Owehlai Falls something of a wild shrine to the Rain Goddess, Makutsi. Located south of Taloba and the Kandukta Basin, Owehlai Falls are difficult to reach at the best of times, and nigh impossible otherwise... particularly in the rainy summer season, when the torrential rains cover the region, making the tributaries and Basin much more dangerous and harder to travel through. But the true followers of Makutsi aren't going to allow a little rain isn't going to stop them.
The Owehlai Falls pour into what people claim is a bottomless lagoon. Very few have ever plumbed its depths, as the only Falyndarian natives who can, the Charodae, have difficulty accessing it. The Waterfall and lagoon are a poor hunting ground, although some animals, particularly birds, come there to drink and nest. Those who would seek a favour from the Rainbringer, the goddess of rain, rivers, water, springs, springs, lakes, and oases, often make the hard journey to the Falls and Lagoon to seek an audience with her, especially if they want to earn her favour. Makutsi enjoys challenging those who would follow her, and managing the treacherous journey is one way to demonstrate their loyalty.
Legends say that those who do manage the climb and go over the falls to submerge themselves in the lagoon are sometimes met by the Goddess herself, to congratulate them. |
