[The Twin Lakes]Finding Solace by the Lakes (Phoeniana)

Postby Iosha on March 24th, 2013, 4:46 pm

Spring 40th of Spring, 513AV
Location:The Twin Lakes
Who:Phoeniana

Iosha needed to get physically fit before she even attempted to go to the Unforgiving by herself, so she had taken it upon herself to swim five laps from the grassy eastern shore to the rocky western shore. It was a lot of swimming even for the Konti who basically lived in the water most of her life. Every other morning since spring started she made her way down to the Twin Lakes and do her exercises. It was exhausting, but she noticed noticed over the course of few weeks. She had been getting stronger and her endurance had increased dramatically. The pale young woman ended the final lap and quite unbecoming of a konti maiden. When she got to shallow water, she basically crawled out of the water and collapsed by the shore. Staring up at the blue sky, Iosha smiled to herself when she saw a wind eagle fly over her. She couldn't believe she was in the land of her father on the other side of world from her peoples home. Laying on the grass naked, Iosha was content in allowing the warm mid spring sun warm and dry her body. She raised her arm and saw the scales on the back of her hand start to shimmer a soft green in the morning sun. The konti closed her violet eyes and started to hum to herself a Inarta tune. She learned the other day as she waited for the sun to dry her body.

When Iosha felt her body dry, she stood up and put on her small cloths. She wasn't going to completely dress since she was going to practice her reimancy. Iosha walked out into about knee high water, and she outstretched her hands on each side of her. The konti closed her eyes and started will the translucent res into a ball each hand. The silvery blond woman used her will to manipulated the translucent substance to into a arch over her head. The process was slow and quite awkward for the young wizard to maintain control of the arch. It was a more advanced shape to maintain than a simple orb or cube. The res slowly started to rise up from each hand in a tube like line, and it slowly started to turn towards to each side when the liquid cleared her head. Eventually, Iosha looked up to see her res had made her desired shape, so she took a deep breath and willed the res to attract the water into the arch of res. Iosha watched with a sense of satisfaction as the water slowly rose from the lake to the arch. It was a slow process because Iosha was concentrating to maintain the shape of her arch while filling it with water. Eventually the arch was completely filled with water, and she looked up at her creation with grin. She watched the arch start to wobble slightly, and she closed her eyes and willed it back into shape. Iosha looked up and the res water arch was completely maintaining the desired shape for now.

Grandmother told Iosha if you can will your res into desire shapes than you had a sense of control over your magical power. Iosha learned earlier in her life that control of her magic could be just as effective as sheer power. Iosha remember her grandmother's favorite quote, “Sometime the smallest act can change the course of events in your favor.” Iosha took it to heart because she had to be careful about overgiving with her current mental state. The young wizard released the will on her left hand, and the arch started to wobble violently. Iosha maintained complete concentration holding the res in her right hand. The young woman allowed arch of water to fall behind her like a rope, and she continuing holding onto her res with her right hand. She swung the rope of water over her head, and she watched her res slam into the water ahead of her. The arch completely disappeared when hit the water, but it caused a decent amount of small waves moving away from the point of impact. Iosha wiped the sweat from her brow, and she could tell the magic took a lot out of her. Feeling no residue of res inside her or around her, she closed her eyes and put her hands together trying to center and calm her mind only concentrating on the waves hitting the shore.

"Samani, could you fly a little slower? Someone might see!" Her sentences were a loss jumble of words in the wind as the giant, beige Wind Eagle picked up her speed. The words were no more than a whistle to the bird, clicking one eye, then two, before soaring on like it hadn't heard anything at all. Phoeniana grit her teeth more than she already had, gripping the sides of the bird's neck tightly. Samani was far past listening to anything the Inarta woman had to say; not while she was in the air at least. The air and the wind were her home, her paradise, and whatever words the Inarta had to say could probably wait until they landed to be heard.

Phoeniana was on a different note, as usual. Gusts of wind blew violently against her ducked head, wipping strands of her orangish-red hair wildly into the wind. The sky was painted a light blue and with a mixture of her long hair waving carelessly into it, she was sure she imagined it looking like a streak of red darting across the sky. Red wasn't a discreet color, she knew, especially in Wind Reach alone. The infamous red of the Inarta people would definitely show up in the sky, despite the massive wing span of her large eagle below.

It also did not help one bit that she didn't know what in high hell she was doing! Every so often when Samani would flap her wings, Phoeniana would grip helplessly to the sides, rewarding herself an irritated squawk from the large eagle's beak. She muttered an apology and tried to shift her body into a sitting position despite the air pressure. It did not work so well. Tears welling up in her cocoa eyes at the sheer speed of which they flew, Phoeniana had now manged to be hanging on for dear life on the eagle's wide wings.

"Samani..." The name was once again drowned out against the powerful beat of the wind against her lips. Hours. She felt as if she had been up there for hours, hanging onto her large friend for the life of her. What made it all the more fearful was that she had absolutely no idea where she was! There was nothing in her view for hours than the dark tan feathers of her Wind Eagle. If she chanced a glance a little higher into the air, she may have gotten whiplash which was a no-go for her. Her only option was to lay low and pray to the Wind that she was not spotted or seen.

Because if someone saw a Cheit riding a Wind Eagle?...

Caaaaaaaaw!

Phoeniana's head arched up a slight as Samani's call echoed out into the air around her. The caw mingled with the wind was like a sonic boom to the Inarta's ears, rattling her eardrums violently. Pain seared through her ears a hundred miles a minute until Phoeniana couldn't take it anymore. As soon as she attempted to clamp her hands to both of her ears, she realized how big and stupid of a mistake she had made. It hadn't hit her until her body was slung from the eagle's back and sent spiraling into the air.

"EEEEIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"The scream was as ear-splitting as Samani's caw, maybe even more so. She didn't know. She was too busy plummeting to her death. Phoeniana screamed as much as her throat would allow her, red hair slapping wildly against her pale, unblemished cheeks. Her arms began to flail wildly, wind catching between the folds of her archer's attire. The green, white, and gold slits of her pants stung her legs, slapping fiercely against her thighs each and every feet she dropped. How many feet would it be before she reached the bottom? Would she even be alive when she did, or would she just die in mid air?

Die. Die. Die.

Her eyes flew to a close, not wanting to see the ground that her body was about to smash upon. It was bad enough that the last thing she had to see was the deep abyss of sky. Sky. Wind. Wind Reach. She was never going to see Wind Reach again...

Die. Die. Die.

She would never experience love. She would never know the graces of being an Eagle Rider as opposed to being a Cheit. She would never know the beauty of seeing another land. All because of her stupid mistake. All because she decided to take a ride on the back of her giant wind eagle who was probably miles away from her by then.

Die. Die. D--SPLASH!!!

The last thing she had seen before her body hit the large body of water was a glimmer of white. Hair? Fur? She hadn't known. She was out once her body kissed the lake's water.

[The Twin Lakes]Finding Solace by the Lakes (Phoeniana)

Postby Iosha on March 26th, 2013, 3:36 am

Trying to get into a state of mediation with her eyes closed, Iosha tried to concentrate on the sounds of nature. She could hear the sounds of waves breaking on the rocky shoreline, and she could hear birds chirping loudly as they flew between nest to nest built on the cliff face. It was a peaceful scene painted by her imagination in her mind, but the peaceful world was shattered by the sounds of screaming wind eagle. Iosha tried to block out the wind eagle obnoxious caws from her personal world of peace and tranquility, but it was soon shattered when she cringed at a ear splitting sound of wind eagle cry. Iosha opened her violet eyes to witness a young woman falling from the wind eagle. Iosha just mouthed, “What the petch?” As she saw the Endal falling back first into the center of the lake, the konti knew the lake was deep in the center, and she needed to get to the human before the woman drowned in the watery abyss.

As Iosha dived into the water, she couldn't help, but wonder how a Endal could fall off their Wind Eagle? Iosha always thought Endals were trained how to fly from their first bonding to the legendary birds. The Konti wouldn't bring up the reason for the fall to the Endal woman if she survived the fall. She figured the line of questioning could land the Avora a punishment from the prideful Endal. Iosha quickly swam under the surface of the water. She knew she was naturally quick underwater because of her Konti nature. She quickly swam through a forest of slimy lake weeds, and she hoped the woman didn't drop into the underwater forest because it could take her time finding the ill fated Inarta woman. Iosha swam over the steep drop off, and she saw red hair fluttering in the water as she fell deeper into the shadowy water. Iosha picked up her swimming speed knowing the water pressure could kill the Inarta woman if she fell any farther into the shadows.

When Iosha got to the woman, she swam up behind her, grabbed the woman under her arm, and she quickly used her legs and her webbed feet to pull the woman to the surface. When Iosha broke the surface, she kept the woman head above water, but she was tried and keeping the human's head above water was harder than she initially planned. Iosha did her best as she dragged the woman ashore. She gently laid Inarta on the grass on her back. Soaking wet, Iosha leans over the woman to check for breathing by putting her hear up to her mouth. She can't hear any breathing, or if she is still breathing, it is faint. The konti put two fingers on the woman's neck to check for a pulse, and she let out a sigh of relief when she felt a pulse. She tilted the red hair woman head to the side and started sweeping out excess water from her mouth with her index and middle finger. Iosha puts one hand behind her neck, one on her forehead, and she gently tilts her head back. Iosha ran a hand through her wet hair trying to remember what to do next, and she started to talk out loud in Kontinese, “OK, now am I supposed to pinch the nose next, or do I just start the breathing, but how many times am I supposed to do it? It is between two and five times...OK, Rak'Keli send me your intuition on the procedure please.” Iosha decided to pinch the nose, and she opened the woman's mouth, and she bent down and covered the woman's mouth with her and breathed hard into her. After she first breath, she waited nine ticks before breathing again. She repeated the process until she saw any signs of life from the injured Inarta.

Darn, this could have been an entertaining thread. I'm disappointed that it wasn't completed. That being said, I wasn't able to give too much XP.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grade, please send me a PM and we can figure it out. :)
