Every day, Maxi was bored. Bored in the morning while waking up to his drab cube of a room, bored in the afternoon while working the fields alongside his uselessly encouraging father, and bored at night when going to bed. Day in and day out, he always felt like he needed something to brighten his day. The young man felt that should his future continue like this that there is no point in living. Every day while working, he thought of this, pondering what possibilities of adventure lie in his current life. But he saw none, for he had never been on an adventure and thus could not see any of the entrances to that way of life, however obvious they may be. Only once did his efforts in finding an adventure bear fruit. And the fruit that it bore was to find a fortune teller.
Find a fortune teller and pose an inquiry about his future. What would it be like? A swordsman, battling alongside the great Sylirian Knights perhaps? A hunter crouching in the woods, seeking out a legendary beast in which to slay and gain glory? Maybe even an assassin, lurking in the depths of shadows to strike out at a unaware target? Maximillion had no idea, but he so dearly wanted one. So he strode out to find one, wandering the streets of Syliras based on whim, ear, and chance.
The streets were busy enough, many a citizens going about their daily work while others were simply hanging out in the corners of the streets. The majority of the crowd were worksmen, lugging about construction equipment for the building of something nearby, though there was the odd drunkard hobbling about. Maxi's legs were sore from walking around so much, seeking out a fortune teller of some kind. A wooden flute stuck out from the largest pocket in his gray jacket, a splotch of dark brown against the field of gray clothing. His expression was glum and bored. Where can I find a fricken fortune teller?! I've been looking around for...two chimes already! Wow. Maybe I should just go home... He heaved a sigh and shook his head. "Ugh! Why can't I ever find what I'm looking for?!" Of course, Maxi was young, and the young exaggerate sometimes. But this time, he wasn't exaggerating much. But he continued to endure the sore legs, the boredom, and the lack of adventure while he shuffled about looking for some sort of fortune teller. Maybe a vendor, maybe a shop with a sign, and maybe even a person with eyes that seemed they could take in the future. Many times he asked the random fellow just to have his question shut down and ignored and other times answered sarcastically. Always he seemed to fail.
But he didn't care. He knew this path lead to adventure, and he'd do almost anything to get some action. And so Maximillion Ahrow continued his patrol, ever searching for someone who could tell him his future.
