''Tell me, Khal'iah......Do you have another being within you? You act as if you do, you tend to agree or scorn yourself quite frequently. It is just my observations but I find myself unable to keep the questions from escaping my own lips. She glanced sideways at the male, her eyes were now filled with sharp intellect it. A dangerous feat in all its own when directed towards others, this meant that she was ready to interrogate him until he cracked or until she found out herself.
The Eypharian was known for her sharp tongue and even sharper mind, having won many debates as a child she grew into a political weapon. One her father and mother had used up until their deaths. Many had blamed her for her parent's murders, the truth was she had been the cause. Which only made the subject even more delicate to speak of, and made all the more deadly when the subject was brought up.
She intended to destroy those who had taken away her family, her wealth and her status in Eypharian society. That was one of the reasons why she had come to Zeltiva, she had received word from sources that had been close allies of her mother and father that their killers resided in the seaside city. |

"No, the only thing that's within me is an empty stomach." He stated simply. Tlazotinya was a smart woman by Khal'iah's estimate. She spoke well, she dressed well, and made it from her foreign homeland to Zeltiva in one piece. Therefore, he was certain that she'd interpret his deflection as a sign that the subject was not something that he talked about with people he barely knew and that poking at it would cut their voyage short. Most people have subjects that they simply do not wish to speak about: Khal'iah was no different, and this was his subject. Silence then ruled him until they arrived at the door of the tavern, where the Akalak reached out and opened it for his acquaintance; like a true gentleman should.
"After you." he said, motioning for her to enter the establishment. Within was a semi-crowded tavern, bustling with men of the sea and waitresses scurrying about to serve them drinks and meals. It was getting close to the afternoon rush, and in time many people would flock to the tavern for a bite to eat before settling back into their respective professions until it was time to retire for the evening. Should Tlazotinya be observant, she would notice a table not too far from the main bar that was empty, bearing two seats, and was far enough away from the majority of the patrons to afford some degree of privacy and freedom from judgmental eyes.
Of course, as she was entering first, the choice of where to sit ultimately depended upon her preferences. |

"Fine don't tell me, I have time to figure it out myself. That is if there even is anything to discover.'' Scanning the tavern and the many human patrons he scoffed and shook her head in disgust. Of course it would be humans, it was nearly impossible to find a place that wasn't crawling with them. As she scanned the large room that acted as the tavern's serving area her eyes fell onto an empty table, she began to weave through the crowd. Using a dancer's steps to easily maneuver through the crowd.
That was until she bumped into a large burly fisherman, he grabbed her arm to steady her,. Then he stared at seeing the other five. He gritted her teeth and yanked away, but the human didn't let go. |

It was...as if Tlaotinya was a magnet for trouble this day! First, there was the altercation in the streets, now there was a burly fisherman who was getting handsy. 'You better start collecting a salary if this keeps up.' mused Hal'ik, obviously deriving entertainment from the series of unfortunate events. Khal'iah said nothing in response, only stepping lively across the tavern in order to appear at his acquaintance's side in a matter of seconds. His fingertips loosed his Lakan from its resting place upon his belt, then guided its blade mere inches from the man's throat.
"I'm really not in the mood for this. Let her go, sit down, and get back to your meal."
Khal'iah really didn't want to get into another brawl. He really wanted to eat...but, if necessary, he'd tear the patron apart and then procure himself some lunch afterwards. 'Gods above, please make this buffoon just...sit down.' |

''You can either let me go, or have a boot up your ass. Either way you are not going to continue touching me....'' Tlazotinya hissed under her breath, it was quiet enough that none of the other tavern's patrons heard, but loud enough for Khal'iah and the fisherman to just barely make out. As she lifted her eyes to look at the fisherman the look in them could only be described as horrifying.
Her eyes looked dead, the previous light that had been in them upon talking of her Father and simple conversational material was gone. It looked as if her soul was gone, replaced by a black abyss. A cold smile spread across her lips as she then curled one of her hands into a fist and punched the fisherman in the stomach. This caused his hand to release her arm as he doubled over. The Eypharian simply brushed off her cloak as if she had been soiled. She then stepped over the man that had fallen, making her way to the table.
''I don't want to hear it......He touched me with those disgusting hands, he got what he deserved, nothing more, nothing less. And you shall do well to remember that, Khal'iah......'' Her voice trailed off, she then pulled out her own chair before situating herself in the seat. SHe then leaned forward and put her chin on one her her hands that was connected to her arm, propping her up against the table top. |

It would appear as though the Akalak had no need to have even drawn his weapon, for the altercation had been "resolved" the moment he stepped over to the fisherman. As the blade left its sheathe to be pointed at the burly man, Khal'iah's newfound acquaintance collided one of her fists into his stomach with a mighty force, robbing the man of his wind. The fisherman doubled over and slumped to the floor, writhing, whilst Tlazotinya simply stepped over his fallen form. Khal'iah had to admit, he was impressed! That was one heck of a blow to bring such a burly man to his knees.
"Hear what exactly? Praise on a job well done? Surprise that you can hit that hard?" he replied, grinning as he returned his Lakan to its rightful place upon his belt and stepped lively to follow after her. She seated herself at a table of her selection and he slid into the seat across from her. "And believe you me, I'm far from being one of those humans. The difference between them and the Akalak is that we are raised with a reverence of women...days like this honestly make me disgusted to share a gender with those dogs."
Khal'iah left it at that and raised his hand to get the attention of one of the waitresses who was wandering about the bar. "Excuse me miss, might I have a mug of ale and some meat please?" |

''Just like men, there are women who are just as vulgar and disgusting.......'' She shrugged and then smirked. "I really wish I could have stuck my boot up his ass, that would have been a sight to see, and frankly it would have made me feel a little better.'' She closed her eyes and allowed a long sigh to escape her lips. It was as if she was getting ready to tell a story. But before she had time to start speaking a Khal'iah had flagged down a waitress and ordered a meal of his own. She lifted eyes to the woman, a look in her eyes as if daring the waitress to say something.
''Bring me something sweet, as well as your strongest ale...'' The woman winced at her cold and harsh tone, but hid it quickly. Nodding she left the two at the table. Once she was out of earshot the Eypharian looked across the table at Kah'iah. ''I killed Mother and Father......It was my fault. Even to this day, nearly a year after they were murdered I still blame myself. Tell me.....How can I atone for what I have done? Would my death help? Perhaps if I suffered as much as they did then everything would be alright!''
Her voice had begun to rise, revealing the frustration she was usually so good at keeping hidden boil to the surface. She slammed a fist into the table and then stood. She turned on her heel and stalked off. Desperate for relief of the gilt and pain she felt. She found herself outside the tavern, leaning against the building. Eyes trained on her feet. |

"Well, I surmise I am fortunate enough to have never encountered a woman whom was as vulgar and disgusting as the dogs we have faced today." Khal'iah replied with a smile upon his face. As the waitress hearkened to Tlazotinya's order, the Akalak simply leaned back in his chair and folded his arms across his chest; as was his habit. Once she had gone off to procure their respective meals, the foreign woman before him said something that sent the warrior's eyebrows skyrocketing. He made no reply just then, only listened carefully and mulled over what words he could possibly say in response...yet before he could open his mouth to say anything, she had arisen from her seat and stormed out of the tavern.
'Oi, Khal...tread lightly.' warned Ha'lik. This surprised Khal'iah quite a bit, for his darkness to take an interest in the situation enough to advise caution...yet they both knew what loss felt like all too well. They could help, at least, so they thought. 'You got it.' he replied, ascending to his feet and making his way towards the exit. He stopped only a few feet short of the door and motioned to the waitress from earlier. "We'll be right back, go ahead on with getting our order ready. Many thanks!" He concluded with a smile and stepped outside, taking a deep breath as he carefully approached his acquaintance.
"A life...is only worth just that...a life. For you to die in atonement for the passing of your parents would still leave you a debt to pay. So, how will you atone? Simple. Live. Live for the both of them. Live so fully that the debt of their deaths are repaid through you." He folded his arms across his chest once more. "You say they were murdered...then the first course of action would be to avenge their deaths. From there, move on and live life. Savor each breath, if not for you, for them." |

''You sound like a bloody damn Priest, but I guess you would. Considering you are only trying to help. And as for avenging them, that is the reason I came to Zeltiva. The bastards that murdered Mama and Papa fled here of all places. But then again I guess it would be easy to hide, and then catch a ship across the sea, in other words, a perfect escape.'' She gave out a harsh laugh and then turned to look at him, her face was a mask again. Eyes cold.
''I was a political weapon, I could tear apart someone with just my words, it was truly pathetic to see the others in Court, and then watch them fall over themselves to get in good with the Pressorah. It was pathetic, but that life is over for me......'' Her voice had taken on a tone that was unable to be pinpointed, it seemed harsh and cold, but at the same time musical and light. She then laughed, it sounded as if she was on the verge of hysterics. Which in truth, the Eypharian was she wrapped her lowest set of arms around her midsection. Then she hunkered down, her bottom touching the cold packed ground. |

"I have been called many names over the course of my lifetime...but priest...now that's a new one..." Khal'iah stated flatly, an eyebrow raising in response to the comparison. The Akalak hearkened to her words then, listening to the pain that was masked behind each sentence. When she slumbed upon the ground, he simply shook his head. The pain of loss was something he was used to...but there was a time for grieving, and there was a time to stand and fight.
"On your feet." he demanded, extending his hand to her. "You came here for a reason. You came to avenge your parents. So stand and do that. Sitting there won't do a damn thing! So get up Tlazotinya, stand!" With that said, Khal'iah awaited her response. Part of him anticipated it being exceptionally negative, but he hoped for the best. |
