3rd of Spring 513 AV

In the snowy wilderness near the city of Avanthal, the white tigress was on the prowl. The conditions had been especially harsh today, the winds were strong and it was snowing heavily, so the visibility wasn't good at all. Sheva had been following the scent of a deer for the past few hours, she was beginning to grow tired and the constant snowfall was making it almost impossible to find any tracks.

Slowly she moved not needing to try too hard too be silent since the howling of the wind masked the sound of her steps. The large feline was relying on her keen sense of smell to find it's prey, since her other senses weren't of much use in the miniature snow storm. The deer's scent was very faint, barely noticeable, had Sheva not been focusing on it, it may well have gone unnoticed. She was thankful for her thick fur coat as she waded through the snow, one large clawed paw after the other, there was no way she would have been able to hunt in human form in these conditions. The cold would have been unbearable, not to mention, if she were to find her prey, the wind interference would be too much for her to loose her arrows accurately enough.

After several more minutes of sniffing through the snow, Sheva noticed the scent becoming significantly stronger, fresher, closer. The tigers ears perked up as large sky blue feline eyes scanned the area cautiously for any sign of her prey. She didn't see much besides the thick falling snow and some trees, nothing worth noticing. She crawled in closer to one of the trees noticing a few broken twigs at the end of a low hanging branch, yes something had come this way. With the scent growing stronger and the tree itself pointing her in the right direction, the tigress went into stalk mode. Her legs bent, lowering her body closer to the ground as she began to move cautiously in the direction of the broken branches, her senses all on high alert.

After following the trail for only a moment, Sheva noticed a new, more pungent scent in the air, her nose crinkled as it got hold of the unpleasant odour. A low growl escaped from the tigers mouth, she was familiar with this terrible musty smell, it was wolf. The stench of the wolf, no, wolves was overpowering the scent of her prey and it was heading in the same direction. Sheva was not at all happy with the thought of these wolves intruding on her territory, let alone hunting her prey, especially since she'd put so much effort into hunting this one. The large white tiger broke into a steady run, four strong legs propelling her forward at an impressive speed. She needed to hurry, lest she get there too late, she was not going without a meal tonight.

As she ran through the thick falling snow, all her senses were on high alert, her large eyes fixed ahead, her ears raised waiting for the slightest sound and her nose sniffing for the scent. The odour of the wolves was not very difficult to follow, wolves stank, a very powerful stench that although unpleasant was easily traceable. Soon after Sheva began to see faint tracks in the snow, since the snowfall was so heavy, any visible tracks meant that they had been made only moments prior, or they would have been covered up.

Slowing into a walk as the tracks got fresher and fresher, the tigress came to a halt as her prey was definitely not far a head. The tracks of the wolves had converged with that of her prey and it seemed that they had attacked, sure enough a few feet ahead small splats of blood stood out against the white snow covered ground. The wolves had landed a bite on her prey and with the increasing size of the blood trail, it could not have gotten much farther, then as if to confirm her suspicions Sheva's was greeted with the familiar sound of flesh being torn. Sheva immediately went into stealth mode, crouching and crawling forward slowly until her prey and the wolves came into view.

Sheva stalked slowly closer scoping the scene with sky blue feline eyes, there it was, the deer she'd been tracking all day and it was dead. There were five wolves around it and they had already begun their feast, but only barely. The tigress felt rage slowly creep up on her as the she bared her large fangs, her claws digging into the snow. Although she was furious with the intrusion of the wolves on her territory and her prey, she restrained herself enough to avoid being unnecessarily injured. She may have them trumped in the size category, but they had her outnumbered and a wolf pack was not something to be taken lightly.

The tigress stayed there, not too far off although it seemed the wolves weren't aware of her presence yet, too preoccupied with there stolen meal no doubt. Sheva had to come up with a plan to avoid getting into an all out fight, preferably one that caused the wolves to flee, although she knew that was no easy feat in a land were food was scarce. Had the tables been turned she would probably fight fang and claw to keep her meal, but luckily, with the element of surprise, she had the opportunity to shift the odds in her favour. Usually a thunderous roar would do the trick but Sheva felt that she may need a little bit more this time. Luckily for Sheva, she was a kelvic, meaning that where a normal tiger would only have strength, ferocity and size she had an additional set of options that came with being part human.

Shifting to her human form didn't seem like a good idea, she was more vulnerable and less intimidating in that form so that was not an option. What other skills did she have in her arsenal that could be used in this situation? Then it hit her, magic! She had her reimancy! Reimancy wasn't exclusive to her human form since all it required was the knowledge and ofcourse precious djed. Once the tools had been layed out, Sheva quickly formed a strategy. Slowly she began to focus her djed drawing it into her lungs in a gaseous res form, once she had gathered a sufficient amount, the tigress stretched her front legs out gripping the snow with her claws for traction and tensing her hind legs, ready to pounce.

The great white tigress leapt towards the unsuspecting wolves, landing only a few feet away from them before releasing a thunderous and terrifying roar. Sheva forced the res out of her throat, transmuting it into flames once it was a foot away from her mouth in conjunction with the roar. The result was a thunderous roar coupled with what looked like a breath of fire. Had it just been a roar, the wolves may have decided to defend their kill, but they were caught by surprise and atop of the fierce raw was the jet of flames. The wolves whelped and sprinted off with their tails between their legs with no idea what had just happened.

Once she was certain the wolves weren't coming back Sheva relaxed her body, a slight ringing in her head from the djed expulsion. The deer was half eaten, but there was still more than enough for her and she wasted no time in digging in. Large fangs ripped and tore at the deers bloody corpse as the tigress devoured it piece by piece. She was filled with pride at her clever thinking, that flaming roar was innovation at it's best. So after a long day of hunting the tiger kelvic had a full stomach, a new weapon in her arsenal and a feeling of complete satisfaction. This was a good day.

Sheva :
Experience:
  • Tracking +2
  • Observation +2
  • Stealth +1
  • Intimidation +1
  • Reimancy +1

Lores:
  • I’m Not Going Home Without a Meal!
  • Rage against Intruders within Your Territory
  • Magic: Not Limited to Human Form
  • Scaring a Pack of Wolves

Notes:
This was a rather short but still an interesting and straight forward solo. Your use of reimancy to scare the wolves away was a nice tactic! I would have awarded more, but you only used it once and I don’t imagine there was much challenge for Sheva in pulling the stunt off at your current skill. :)

True nobility lies in being superior to your former self
