Accalia

Fall 28th, 500AV | Zeltiva

It was midnight, and Accalia’s Sire had given her a task to vanquish a ghost from it suffering. However, Accalia’s Sire will be joining her for this task, because this was going to be the first time Accalia is going to give a ghost “The Lie.” Beforehand, Accalia’s Sire told her to create Soulmist for tonight’s task and so she did. As she made the substance to form the soul mist, her Sire explained what “the Lie” is and what it does as he preps himself.

Accalia’s Sire explained that “The Lie” is a technique that would allow a Spiritist to deceive a ghost, making them think that the Spiritist is someone else. They did this by smearing Soulmist on their face and focused on the face they want the ghost to see. He then explained that if they place a bit off soulmist on their tongue and focused on their voice, they could even sound like that person. Accalia had finished producing her soulmist and her Sire was had finish preparing. Castor was also joining this task. He’ll be assisting his Sire with the physical part of the task. Castor prepped his chain and a few daggers, along with his jar of soulmist.

The group set off to the graveyard, the twin’s Sire lived close to one so the travel didn’t take long. As the group walked through the graveyard, the sound of whispers filled the air, and an ominous chilled surrounded each person’s body. As lesser person would have turned back and run, but these people had a job to do. Accalia was instructed to draw out the ghost of a mother that had die during the plague. The ghost was reported to have harmed small children due to being not her own child, her name was Sylvia Migoran. Accalia had to find her grave stone, and lure the ghost out with a bit of her soul mist. She wandered around the graveyard as her Sire and Castor setup. She looked at every grave stone she passed, searching for the name “Sylvia Migoran.”

Accalia eventually found her gravestone. It seemed her body was one of the few that got buried during the plagued. Accalia exposed and opened her jar of soulmist, dipping her finger in the cool substance to scoop out a small portion of it. After Accalia had store the jar away, she wipes of the clump of soulmist on her fingers onto Sylvia’s gravestone. She took a few steps back and said “Sylvia Migoran, I give you permission to absorb my soul mist under the condition that to reveal yourself.” Accalia looked around, it was silent, and all she could hear were the eerie whispers of the wind blowing past the graves. Suddenly, an apparition appeared, it was ghost. The ghost had no form and Accalia could see straight through it. She could see that the ghost’s soulmist was lapping up the soulmist Accalia offered. “You must be Sylvia” Accalia said.

The shapeless ghost slowly formed into a human with a feminine figure. She word tattered clothing, stained with dirt and sickly substances. The ghost to facing the tombstone, her back was to Accalia. “Umm… Sylvia?” she said, hoping for a response. A sound slowly faded in, it sounded likem coughing followed by spluttering, and finished with the sound of someone spewing. The ghost contorted its body, as if she writhing in pain from the illness she once had. Suddenly she stopped, and that air around Accalia began to chill her to the bone. The ghost slowly turned her head to face her, but the ghost’s body didn’t move an inch. Accalia was trying to fight the feeling of running away, but if she did that the ghost could easily catch her. She watched as the ghost spun her head, cracking noises were heard along the way. The ghost had short hair and she had eyes that had lost their colour. Sickly brown liquid flowed out of her mouth as she asked “Are you my child…?” Her voice was extremely rasp and sounded as if she had some liquid stuck in her throat.

Accalia didn’t know what to do to. “Are you my child…?” the ghost asked again. Accalia’s task was to give the ghost a lie, but she didn’t know a practical method of using it. Accalia looked around as if there was an answer written somewhere. That’s when she was grappled by the ghost. She let out a short scream and looked above her head. She saw yellow teeth that had corroded away, lips that were dried and crack and brown ooze that leaked out of her mouth, nose and even her eyes. The ooze dropped onto Accalia’s face, it chilled her to the bone. The ghost grappled her neck and screamed “Are you my child?!” Accalia couldn’t breathe.

The ghost’s grip got tighter the more Accalia struggled. “Are you my child?!” the Ghost screamed as she slowly fused into her body. Accalia saw flashes on the ghost’s memory. Suddenly, a chain wrapped around the ghost’s head, the chain had spikes wielded onto the links, and then her head was literally ripped off, leaving a trail of soulmist that faded away. The ghost screamed and wailed in pain, releasing her grip of Accalia to grow her head back. “Get into the safe zone with master!” Castor yelled. Accalia ran for her life towards her Sire, sprinting towards him as Castor bought her some time. He then joined them in the safe zone. The ghost wailed as screeched, trying to force its way into the barrier. “Did you let it possess you?” Asked the twin’s Sire in a concerned tone. “I think she tried to” She said trying to catch her breath.

When Accalia was about to be possessed, she saw a flash of the ghost’s memories. Sylvia was a happily wedded woman, who had a child who was only seven at the time, her name was Katelyn. She child was a small girl with bright blue eyes and short blonde hair. Every for Sylvia was okay, but when the plague hit the city, she got infected. Her adult body was able to fight the disease momentarily; however, her daughter’s body wasn’t as strong as her mother’s. As the sickness pasted over time, Sylvia’s body survived the plague, but the daughter who she cherished wasn’t with her anymore. She soon became depressed, and caused her beloved to leave her. Her life began to spiral out of control. She began to think that her daughter was still in this world, and that she was searching for her in another life. In her insanity, she saw this as her gateway to happiness. However, she wasn’t brave enough to exit her body with a knife; instead she ate anything that looked toxic. She ate wild berries, raw meat and frogs, even a rotting carcase. In the end, she died from food poisoning and a heart yearning for her daughter.

Accalia now understood what to she had to do. “I’ve got it know, Master” she said, opening a jar of soulmist. She scooped out a hand full of the cool substance and applied in on her face. She smeared it along ever surface including the eyes, nose and mouth. She then scooped a bit more and placed it in her mouth. The soulmist was cool and had a gel like consistency as she swirled it around her mouth before swallowing it. With the soulmist on her face and tongue, she closed her eyes and focused of the child she saw from the ghost’s memory. She focused on the structure of her face, and the way her voice sounded. She focused of the way she spoke and the way she blinked. Soon after, Accalia believed she was ready for the ghost.

Accalia looked at her Sire as if she was asking if she could go, and her Sire gave a nod and Castor prepped his weapon, should something go wrong. Accalia walked towards the wailing ghost, hoping what she had done was correct. The close Accalia got, the louder the ghost screeched. Suddenly, the ghost was silent. The ghost towered over Accalia, who had exited the safe zone, and stared into her eyes. Accalia’s nerves tried to get the better of her, but she was fighting it. The ghost’s horrid face loomed towards Accalia’s face, she could feel her icy breath stroking along her face. “Kate… lyn…?” the ghost asked as her colourless eyes widen.

Accalia was cheering on the inside, but she needed to focus on the task. It seemed the ghost thinks that she is her daughter. Accalia played along and spoke to the ghost. “Mum? Is that you? Where were you? I thought you left me behind.” Accalia said with the face and voice of her daughter. The ghost face continued staring at Accalia as if she was in disbelief. “Katelyn is that really you!?” the ghost questioned in an overwhelming tone. Accalia did feel quite right about this, but she needed to do this if the ghost was to past. “Yes, mum! It’s me!” she said in a cheery voice, spreading her arms open.

The ghost immediately latched onto Accalia, embracing her. The ghost was cold, and the hug felt ‘off’ to Accalia. She could hear the ghost sobbing, as if she finally found what she has been looking for. “Katelyn, my dear, I’ve missed to so much.” The ghost sobbed.
“I missed to too mum” Accalia said, trying to match her feelings.
“Mum?” asked Accalia, playing as the ghost’s daughter.
“Yes, dear?”
“Can we go home now?”
There was a pause and the ghost was silent. Her sobs slowly changed into laughter. The ghost’s soulmist began to glow bright than usual, and as she pulled herself off her something has changed. The face of the once horrid ghost has changed; her face is now normal, no cracked lips, no oozed from the mouth and her eyes now have colour, they’re bright blue.
“Yes dear, we can” the newly formed ghost said, bearing a smile.
“Thank you…” thanked the ghost.

The ghost slowly faded and her soulmist disbursed into the air. Accalia just stood there, wondering what just happened, that’s when her sire placed his hand on her shoulder. “Fighting ghost doesn’t mean you have to always fight. Just like in the real world, problems can be solved using words.” Her Sire explained. They group packed up their equipment and began to set off home. Accalia learn that the lie is a powerful tool to help ghosts.
