Castor

Spring 45tht, 513AV – Midday

Castor was in the shop called “The feathered shaft” today. He had a coin purse that was ready to be lightened. Castor wandered around the store, looking at the various bows and crossbows. Castor had a vague idea about what he wanted in his mind. Castor wanted something that could be shot it’s arrow in almost an instant, can be easily cocked and was easy to stowed away. These requirements are needed for his job, if he was in a combat situation that involved the use of a ranged weapon, if the weapon was too slow, the ghost can blink away, if it takes too long to load, it could be gave over for Castor. With that in mind, castor wandered through the shop.

A man appeared from behind a counter and looked as if he owned the store. He greeted Castor and asked if could assist him with his purchase. The man was named Kalvin Wilde, and was indeed the owner of the store. Castor told the Kalvin about his inquires as the man looked as if he was searching for a suggestion in his head. Castor waited for Kalvin to speak, and then Kalvin suggested a crossbow.

Kalvin gestured Castor to follow him as he walked towards a wall that had a crossbow on it. Kalvin removed the crossbow on the wall and explained its details as he handed it over to Castor. Kalvin explained to Castor that a crossbow was ideal for firing a single arrow quickly, it was also good because the arrow can be cocked and left that way, allowing you to fire when you want it. However, a crossbow takes a bit of effort and time to load. Castor immediately turned down the crossbow, giving it back to Kalvin and told him that time was important. Kalvin once again thought about a suggestion and had another one in almost an instant, this time a Bow.

Kalvin once again gestured Castor to follow him to another wall, this one was filled with bows. Kalvin handed Castor a random bow from the wall and explained that there were a variety of them. The bow that Castor was given was a composite longbow. Through Kalvin’s explanation, he expressed that a bow was the best if he wanted to load an arrow in no time at all. Bows are the best if you want to fire arrow in rapid succession, or if you want hit a target from a distance. However, a bow is a bit large to stow away, and would most likely had to be held by hand or around the body, where it could interfere with some movement. Again Castor gave the bow back and expressed his needs for absolute mobility. Kalvin once again thought of a suggestion, but was the slightest bit annoyed about how picky Castor is. Kalvin then suggested a hand crossbow.

Kalvin was about to gesture Castor, but Castor just nodded and followed him before he could do anything. Kalvin walked to a rack that had a few hand crossbows. He expressed that the hand crossbow wasn’t very popular because it wasn’t as strong as its other counterpart and didn’t shoot quite as far as well, but it was easy to stow away, and won’t interfere with movement. Castor looked at Kalvin’s face as if he was disappointed. Castor just shook his head, and Kalvin knew what a ranged weapon is useless if the range was tiny and did no damage. Kalvin was out of suggestion at this point.

Castor gazed at the whole store, looking at its bows and crossbows - none of them fit his Inquiries. Castor thanked the man and began leaving the store. As Castor was about to leave the shop, Kalvin stopped him with one more suggestion. As Castor stood by the door, Kalvin told him that this bow fitted is inquires and would be willing to sell it. Castor turned his head, enticed by the man’s words. Kalvin explained that this weapon was one of a kind, a custom weapon. Kalvin had been working on this weapon for a while but after its completion he had forgot about it. Kalvin told Castor to wait as he retrieved the weapon. Castor nodded his head, and Kalvin went off.

When Kalvin came back, he presented a unique looking hand crossbow. Castor asked if that was it, and said that it looked like an ordinary crossbow with a different look. Kalvin shook his head and explained that the crossbow was exactly what he wanted. It fired arrows in an instant, like a crossbow, reloaded as fast as a bow and was easy to stow away like a hand crossbow. Kalvin then explained the various details about why this was so.

The custom was named “Lotus’s petal” or Lotus. The reason why he named it that was a mystery to Castor, but he allowed him to proceed explaining. The reason this bow could fire its arrow quickly is the simple for that is because the weapon’s trigger is of a crossbow. However, Kalvin made an adjustment to the trigger. The trigger can only be fire if you press a trigger with your thumb on the side of the crossbow, this allows you to stow it away cocked. However, he recommended uncocking it if it isn’t going to used – standard crossbow care. The Lotus can be easily reloaded with in no time that’s to the cocking mechanic of the crossbow. Kalvin created a handle that you can pull back to cock the crossbow, and load that arrow by placing it in the shaft. The Lotus takes any crossbow bolts and fires the same range as a standard crossbow thanks to the miniature composite bow that fires the arrow. Storing the Lotus was simple, it was small.

Kalvin expressed each explanation while he should how the Lotus worked, without ammo. Castor saw the Lotus’s Petal as the weapon he wanted. However, Kalvin told him the price. One-hundred gold mizas, that’s double the price standard heavy bow. Castor looked at his money pouch and The Lotus, wonder is he should by it. In the end, Castor bought the custom crossbow. As well as a large quiver, 3 bundles steel bolts and 20 wooden arrows. In total Castor paid one-hundred and fifty-five gold miza. Castor equipped the goods he purchased and left the store. Kalvin thanked him for his biasness as he left the store.
