Timestamp: Spring 6, 513 AV Mongoose was standing among a group of Scorpions who were in a fairly heated discussion. All burly men, with weapons strapped to their hips, and a fairly scarred woman, discussing the recent escape of the Drykas slave, and the possibility of a reward attached. Mongoose was just listening to the rumors, trying to decide what was worth knowing, and what wasn't. "I heard he killed those three Undertaker sisters, then dressed up like one of them to escape." That man had a scimitar on his belt, with a triangle scar on his back. He was Eypharian, built like a stone shykehouse, and was the largest of the bunch. Mongoose didn't know his name, but she'd easily remember the scar. "You're so full of it, Fhara." Now Mongoose knew his name, "The sisters are alive and well. He probably just overpowered a guard, you know they've been hiring any cheap ol' bastard that could hold a sword. That will probably change though after this, maybe even a pay increase. The Jackals are all in a frenzy looking for that horse petcher. But they won't come here, not to the Pillars. If that Drykas was smart, he'd come here, straight to us." The man then laughed, a weasel like sound. Where Fhara was big and strong, this Eypharian was small, lean, lithe. He had several daggers on his belt, and was paler than most of his race. If Mongoose had to have guessed, she'd have thought that he spent more time in shadows and under Leth's light than in Syna's smile. "Watch your tongue, lest you want it ripped out." The conversation continued onward to more pointless rumors, conjectures, and exchange of insults and boasting. Mongoose continued to half listen, when she saw the woman there shifting uneasily, not participating in the conversation. The Pycon moved around the group, so as to better watch the woman, without seeming to be giving her a particular interest. When the debate turned violent, the grouping of Scorpions started to break up, and Mongoose watched the woman disappear into the shadows of the Pillars. The Pycon kept a very safe distance, and followed her into the darkness, walking slowly, staying in the darkest parts of the shadows at base of the pillars. |
