Spring 68 Av

Daniel was in a panic. His childhood friend was coming to stay with him and he had not done anything to prepare besides buying the flat above his, so she would have a place to stay. He bounded around the apartment, his eyes yellow, as he threw dirty cloths around into a bin next to his dresser. He cursed his habit of procrastination under his breath as he picked up his cloak and hung it up on the coat rack next to the door. Food. He groaned; he had forgotten to make dinner. Maybe he would pick up some steaks from the market. Was it still open? Probably, it was Saturday and it would be open later than normal. He looked in the pantry, his eyes turning back to their normal blue grey. He found seasoning and whole potatoes, which he then put next to the stove. He then retrieved his cloak and stuffed his keys in his coin purse, shutting the door behind him with a loud thump.

Soon Daniel found himself running along the cobblestone streets of Syliras. Go faster! he thought. He then stopped and concentrated on his moving his Djed to his legs. He felt the rest of his body get weaker, and his legs strengthen slightly. The street was a blur, how fast he did run. People who spotted him though it was the wind and shook their head. After a minute, Daniel had reached the market, at which point he released the magic, then walked up to the butcher’s stall. He looked at the meats for sale and pointed at a choice cut. The butcher, a burly man he was, took a huge knife, almost a sword, and cut the meat into thick slabs, red juices flowing out. He paid the man with a few Mizas and returned back to his apartment.

Daniel looked at the sun, Sophie was due to arrive any minute. He threw the steak on the stove, grilling it in the seasoning. The potatoes were cooked alongside the steak, so they would absorb some of the flavor. He set them to roast for a while as he cleaned up the kitchen. He stopped to admire his work. The apartment was clean, the scent of food was wafting from the kitchen, a job well done. Just then he heard a knock at the door. He opened it to reveal his company, Sophie. “Welcome Sophie! This is my, er well, our flat. I have dinner cooking, you must be hungry, all of that traveling you have been doing!” Daniel said, his eyes turning purple with flecks of silver, while smiling charmingly. “Come in, make yourself at home. I trust your journey went well? No trouble?”

OOCYour post does not have to be this long! This was the intro post, so it will have a lot of background fluff. Thought you moving in would be a good place to begin.

Welcome home [Sophie Ahava]

Postby Sophie Ahava on May 20th, 2013, 5:13 am

Daniel Connor. Sophie was searching her mind to remember the last time they had met. Years ago, for sure. His eyes lingered in her thoughts as she tried to picture his face. Now, her thoughts moved on to her father, Cornelius, the only other male figure she had ever come into contact with. After her mother had disappeared, all joy and happiness left her father's life as he became abusive and turned to alcohol. Running away had always dwell in a few of her day dreams but at 17, Sophie had finally found the courage to do so.

Having nowhere else to go, Sophie thought back to her childhood. Her older sisters have now moved on with their lives and wanted little to do with their baby sister. The only other friend Sophie ever knew was Daniel. She had never been allowed to met him in the first place but their friendship was unbreakable. Knowing her parents would never approve, she would sneak out most nights when they were young to met up. Excited by the fond memories, Sophie speed up her pace towards the house.

The sun was overhead as the house came into view. A light breeze carried the aroma of food through the air. Sophie approached the door and knocked. It opened and standing in front of her was her old family friend.

"Welcome Sophie!" Daniel said. His eyes turned from blue grey to purple with streaks of silver. His smile brought back floods of past memories of long midnight conversations. “Come in, make yourself at home. I trust your journey went well? No trouble?”

"No problem at all!" Sophie responded as she walked in though the door. In front of her laid a simple well-lit room. Potatoes and steak lay warm on the stove. After a quick look around, Sophie became curious about her room. Progressing up the stairs, she found another room similar to the other but with a window. Suddenly hungry, Sophie located Daniel downstairs with two plates of food. She took the plate and was ready to eat when she looked up. Glancing back at her, Daniel and Sophie shared the moment of timeless friendship.

“No problem at all!” Sophie said cheerfully as Daniel pulled her into a warm embrace, his eyes flashing pink. It had been quite a few years since he had seen her last, but her features were still the same. Her white hair carried the aroma of crushed pine needles, a pleasing smell. He released her, taking her bag upstairs, saying “Food is on the stove, help your self!” He put her luggage down near the foot of her bed and headed back down the stairs.

Daniel came down to find her serving them two plates of food, which she set down on the table. They ate in silence, but it was a happy kind of silence, just enjoying each other's company. “I am glad you came.” Daniel said, his eyes turning a light blue, he thought about what life would be like with her around. Would he be able to carry on his line of work? Surely she would be okay with him going away for weeks at a time going all over the world, wouldn’t she? No matter now, they would cross that bridge when they came to it.

They exchanged casual conversation after finishing their meals. Daniel had forgotten how much he enjoyed her company. They talked for hours, catching each other up on their lives. Final, when it was long past dusk, he asked, “Do you want me to show you your room? I have prepared it for you.” He felt something wet press against his ankle, and looked down to see Sylk, her nose pressed against his. He rubbed her fur and furrowed his brow. How would he explain her to Sylk? She might be a problem, he had not told her about having a wolf in the house. He looked up to Sophie, and smiled, saying, “Shall we?” and heading up the ladder, motioning for her to follow.
