![]() Spring 68 Av Daniel was in a panic. His childhood friend was coming to stay with him and he had not done anything to prepare besides buying the flat above his, so she would have a place to stay. He bounded around the apartment, his eyes yellow, as he threw dirty cloths around into a bin next to his dresser. He cursed his habit of procrastination under his breath as he picked up his cloak and hung it up on the coat rack next to the door. Food. He groaned; he had forgotten to make dinner. Maybe he would pick up some steaks from the market. Was it still open? Probably, it was Saturday and it would be open later than normal. He looked in the pantry, his eyes turning back to their normal blue grey. He found seasoning and whole potatoes, which he then put next to the stove. He then retrieved his cloak and stuffed his keys in his coin purse, shutting the door behind him with a loud thump. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Soon Daniel found himself running along the cobblestone streets of Syliras. Go faster! he thought. He then stopped and concentrated on his moving his Djed to his legs. He felt the rest of his body get weaker, and his legs strengthen slightly. The street was a blur, how fast he did run. People who spotted him though it was the wind and shook their head. After a minute, Daniel had reached the market, at which point he released the magic, then walked up to the butcher’s stall. He looked at the meats for sale and pointed at a choice cut. The butcher, a burly man he was, took a huge knife, almost a sword, and cut the meat into thick slabs, red juices flowing out. He paid the man with a few Mizas and returned back to his apartment. Daniel looked at the sun, Sophie was due to arrive any minute. He threw the steak on the stove, grilling it in the seasoning. The potatoes were cooked alongside the steak, so they would absorb some of the flavor. He set them to roast for a while as he cleaned up the kitchen. He stopped to admire his work. The apartment was clean, the scent of food was wafting from the kitchen, a job well done. Just then he heard a knock at the door. He opened it to reveal his company, Sophie. “Welcome Sophie! This is my, er well, our flat. I have dinner cooking, you must be hungry, all of that traveling you have been doing!” Daniel said, his eyes turning purple with flecks of silver, while smiling charmingly. “Come in, make yourself at home. I trust your journey went well? No trouble?” |
