DAHLIA ARUNDEL common (fluent) Human 18 years old Fall 20, Year 495 AV Born in Syliras Blue eyes Blonde Hair (long) 5'3", 107lbs Lithe and pale skinned. PERSONALITY Dahlia exudes this… aura of unawareness and softness that if she were to look at a person straight on with her wide blue eyes, they'd immediately think of her as innocence personified. They'd never really guess that she, with her dreamy smiles and sweetness, would be capable of spiteful vindictiveness that often transcends rationality. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, she perfectly fit the mound of the proverbial pampered last born- selfish, decadent and too guileless for her own good. And maybe a bit too trusting for comfort. However, to dismiss her as completely stupid would be another mistake; Dahlia is surprisingly resourceful when the occasion calls for it- only, she rather prefers being useless. APPEARANCE There's a certain fragility in Dahlia that is unmistakable at first glance. Slender, tall and beautifully postured, it is easy to understand why her mother would often describe her youngest daughter as "perfectly charmed". Well aware of delicate appearance, she takes great pains to preserve her image, never leaving home without combing her pale blonde hair to a smooth finish that would reach the nape of her back or a bottle of lavender perfume, always sprayed faintly on her wrist and neck (and if she was feeling rather daring, on the soft of her thighs). Her only regret is she could never feel comfortable with the unimpressive stature of chest. She prefers to dress herself in light pastels over brooding colors, complimenting her creamy skin and the blush of her lips and cheeks. If pressed, she'd say her favourite feature of her body would be her elegant smooth hands which reveals the extent of her pampered upbringing. HISTORY Before Dahlia could even toddle, her Dena knew right away that her daughter had the potential of netting a rich husband. Though their family was not poor and actually ran quite a successful tailoring shop, Dena wanted her family to be famous in the grapevines of Sylira. Thus, Dahlia and her siblings grew up with their mother's ambitions riding on them- her older brother, Desmond, aiming for knighthood, Mais, her older sister, trained to inherit the shop and Dahlia, groomed for money. While both her siblings went on learning their selective trades, Dahlia was handled almost like a doll in her household. It didn't help that her father (a quiet man happy to surrender the accounting to his wife and to be left with the tailoring) delighted on dressing her up with dresses too fine for her age. Sure enough, Dahlia charmed her neighbours, endearing her to the parents and shopkeepers. However, Dahlia's petulance also sensationalised the local community- it was well known that the rivalry between Dahlia and Mais was riddled with scars, bruises and on one occasion, fractures. The fighting was so bad in one stage that their mother threatened to forcibly relocate one of them to a separate apartment. Unfortunately, Dahlia, being used to her position as the coddled youngest daughter, believed herself as immune to this threat and proceeded to avenge herself, leading to some more bruises and her mother making good on her word. It was only when Mais married that the sibling rivalry cooled down and mellowed enough that the two sisters would occasionally be seen communicating without (much) glaring. Currently, Dahlia is living alone in an apartment close to her family's, although 'living alone' can be used loosely since she seldom sleeps there and keeps only few of her possessions there.

RELATIONSHIPS Family Tree : The Arundel Family History Maria hates everyone because her lover died and then married Christopher and Sigrid elopes with a Svefran guy. Maria disowns her. James, the second child, marries Dena (a poor cloth seller) before the drama started. Maria gets angry (even more) and pushes him into Knighthood, he wants to sew dresses instead. Tailoring gets successful, Maria becomes lenient and begins to get along with Dena. Kids are born from both sides of the family. Sigrid passes away during her second childbirth (sigmund). Philipp becomes depressed and then disappears, leaving Sigrun and Sigmund alone. Christopher passes away. The family gathers, and the cousins start to get to know each other a bit better. Sigmund passes away. - a condensed histroy (will be edited on later)   Family Name Relation Status Maria Arundel Grandmother. Maria is the matriarch of the Arundel family, an ambitious woman with a lot of pride and little patience for those who she perceives as below her. Initially favouring Sigrid, her eldest daughter, over the rest of her children, Maria was devastated when she married a Svefran thus destroying Maria's plan to marry her off to money. She later focuses her attentions to James, a diligent man intent in making his mark in tailoring business. After the death of her husband, Christopher, most family members would agree that her unpleasantness doubled. Alive Christopher Arundel Gradfather. A mild mannered man, it was a mystery why he married Maria. Even more mysterious was the fact that he stayed with her for the rest of his life. Despite his situations, he was a devoted family man, doing anything in his power to make their life comfortable. However, he was a frail man, eventually succumbing to his death in 509AV. Dahlia remembers him very fondly. He taught her how to draw. Deceased James Arundel Father. Similar to his father, Christopher, James shares his sweet temperament and his diligence. However, he is prone to removing himself mentally in stressful situations and often suffers from bouts of depression. Since Sigrid's elopement with a Svefran, he gained the (unwanted) attention of his mother and endless encouragements of entering into the Sylirian Knights. During that time, however, he met and fell in love with Dena, a poor girl selling fabrics in the Bazaar. It was then that he had taken a chance and found success in the tailoring business, a move that earned him the approval of his mother, despite her initial distaste for Dena. Dahlia has a positive relationship with her father, and is more likely to consult him rather than her mother. Dena Arundel Mother. Before marrying off into the Arundel family, Dena worked in her uncle's fabric stall in the Bazaar. She hated her poor lifestyle, as she thought herself as above it and would often fantasize of riches. Her wishes came true when she met James one fateful day. Initially seeing him as a mealticket, she gradually fell in love with him and grew protective of him due to his fragility, taking on the burden she perceives as too heavy for him to carry. She sees Maria as her primary maternal figure, eventually winning her favour years later. Her relationships with her children is very delicate in the sense that she is very dominating of their lives. The only child that she has trouble controlling is Dahlia, despite favouring her so obviously. Alive Desmond Arundel Older brother. In a word, Desmond is a pretty simple guy. He leads and enjoys a straight forward life with not a lot of complications, leaving him to pursue his dream of being a Knight, an endeavour that is highly encouraged by both Maria and Dena. Like his father, he is diligent but has a mischievous streak, often finding trouble out in the streets. However, he is quite kind and soft on his sisters. He often teases Dahlia, the more sensitive of the siblings. His second wish is to see the day that Mais and Dahlia would get along. Alive Mais Arundel Older sister. Out of the three siblings, Mais is the most down-to-earth of them and perhaps, as she likes to believe, the most sensible. As the middle child, Mais suffers from a complex. She neither has the natural talent of her older brother, and neither does she match up to her younger sister's beauty, both traits that gains Dena's attention more. To compensate, she works hard in the tailoring shop, knowing that she would one day inherit it leaving her with mixed feelings. Her high-strung attitude often puts her on odds with the temperamental Dahlia, their fights often rather violent. However, since her marriage, they're getting along better. Sigrid M. Dominic (née Arundel) Aunt. To Dahlia, Sigrid is almost like a fairy tale character that haunts the Arundel family. Full of rumours, full of gossip, her story was always felt quite surreal. All she knows is that after eloping with a man Maria dissapproved off, she was cut off from the family and after giving birth to their last child, died. Deceased Philipp Dominic Uncle. Again, Dahlia knows next to nothing about the man. He had eloped with her aunt, garnered Maria's wrath and disappeared after his wife's death. Dahlia thinks that he's rather irresponsible. Missing Sigmund M. Dominic Cousin. Dahlia rarely met up with her cousins, however, her impression of the boy is quite good. He was certainly intelligent and was beloved quite obviously by his sister. Dahlia was quite jealous of that. She saddened when she learnt of his death. Deceased. Sigrun M. Dominic Cousin. Dahlia remembers her from her childhood as a strong character and incredibly protective of her brother. She knows little of her, but formed a good impression during their brief meetings in the past.
