Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Rainbirds

Dust had dashed from the tunnel Within to the mews door, and yet still arrived at it dripping wet -- such was the deluge outside, the torrential spring rains which had been going on for days and had as of yet no discernible end in sight. Even she found the gloomy, gray, wet weather rather depressing... though it did little to dampen the raven Kelvic's habitual good cheer. She hastened in through the door and pulled it hurriedly shut; not a slam, but still louder than she had intended its closing to be. Dust winced slightly, and cast a sheepish grin towards the building's feathered occupants. "Sorry," she said as she leaned back against the door.

She always talked to the birds. What else was she, if not a bird herself -- albeit one blessed with hands and language. "It's wetter than the river outside," Dust continued companionably as she unhooked the clasp of her cloak and hung it on the stand by the door. Water pooled on its hem and dripped onto the packed dirt there, well away from the stand and the birds perched upon it. "Not that you hadn't noticed. Did any of you go out flying today with Chalce? You'd be braver than I am if so!"

They blinked bright eyes at her, seeming entirely indifferent to the Kelvic's spate of chatter -- though not, she thought, to its upbeat and friendly tone. But one, a large gyrfalcon Dust found a bit intimidating even when in human form, didn't even do that much; it remained with its head tucked under a wing. Though undoubtedly aware of the girl's presence, it refused to acknowledge her as worth notice.

At the moment, Dust was perfectly okay with that.
