Kelvic Study #2

Spring 60, 513 AV As Valerius came to the KRI that morning and began to examine the creatures that were under his care he noticed that one of them, a dog Kelvic, was hurt. It was an ugly dog, with legs that were too short and a body that was too long, and it was lying in its cage, whimpering softly and licking its paw. Due to his work with his aunt Valerius had become a little better at dealing with hurt animals and blood, but he still didn’t like it. He was still a little afraid of catching a disease – but he was fascinated by sick people at the same time. He always carried a pair of gloves with him. The Nitrozian would never touch a sick or hurt Kelvic with his bare hands, not only because of the risk of infection, but also because he just didn’t want to get his hands dirty. So he put the gloves in question on, unlocked the Kelvic’s cage and went in. He even whispered a few soft, encouraging words as he approached the Kelvic. He knew from dealing with his own dog – an impressive Akinva Deerstalker - that that often helped. „Let me take a look“, he said to the animal as he bent down and took the paw in his hand. He noticed at once what was wrong. One of the dog’s nails seemed to be torn. It wasn’t anything serious, but the wound still needed to be taken care of. As he didn’t have the necessary tools with him, Valerius briefly left the cage to retrieve them – and a treat that the dog would receive if it behaved (which he rather doubted, Kelvic tended to be unreasonable).
