The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Raider's Basecamp
Exists 38th-70th of Summer, 513 AV

Only a dozen miles from the Kabrin Road and the border, the Drykas base camp was set up to act as the staging point for raids into Syliras. With the decision handed down to begin forcefully increasing the population, the horseclans moved swiftly and purposefully to begin their task. They constructed tents, built areas to contain slaves, brought in food, and tied the location to the web. They needed to be able to communicate with the city, after all. Once that was completed, it was time to begin. Capture outsiders, bring them to the camp, and then escort them to their new homes. For the Drykas it's their way of life. For the Drykas, it's needed. For the Drykas, it isn't evil.

To those captured, it's an entirely different story.

Tents and cages. Tents and cages. Cries for help. No answers. Endless grass. A foreign land.

This is what the reality of those brought to this camp is. Faced with nothing but uncertainty, these prisoners, these slaves to a culture they don't understand, these unsuspecting people have had their entire world turned upside down. Powerful, mounted warriors ride about, coming to and from the camp. To the West they would leave with the captured in tow, and to the East they would trek, searching for new targets to bring back to the moving city of Endrykas. This location represents a pivotal point for both the aggressors and their victims, as nothing will ever be the same.

Headmaster
ImageRukarin Greenriver of the Diamond Clan
Race: Drykas
Birthdate: 78 Winter of 483 AV
Skills: 60 Leadership, 57 Observation, 30 Organization, 62 Riding, 62 Teaching, 80 Spear, 52 Unarmed Combat, 40 Shortbow, 57 Webbing, 51 Tactics

Rukarin is well respected member of the Greenriver Pavilion, groomed from birth to take over once his father, the Ankal, passes on. He's a powerful warrior with not only a flair for riding, but for teaching others to do so. He made his living by teaching others how to act as one with their Strider, fight in melee, and even how to use their body as a deadly weapon. On top of that, he has a command of his voice that helps him inspire and lead those he works with. Always in control of himself, he speaks with precision and power, and when he listens to suggestions, he gives the feeling that he's truly taking it to heart, whether or not he actually is.

Rukarin was given sole authority over the base camp. His word is final on all matters running the camp. He is found in a brown tent in the center of the camp when he isn't out and about making sure all is running well.

Mess Tent
Located in the eastern part of the camp, the mess tent works around the clock to ensure there is food available for all residents of the raider camp. While there are precious few actual seats, the pavilion sized shelter offers meals made up of what they brought from Endrykas as well as what hunters and foragers were able to bring in to augment those supplies. A small charge of 1 SM a meal is requested to aid purchasing more food if it is needed.

ImageLorlia Moongrass of the Topaz Clan
Race: Drykas
Birthdate: 34 Spring of 488 AV
Skills: 52 Cooking, 42 Food Preservation, 20 Herbalism

Lorlia is gaining a reputation as one of the better cooks in Endrykas, understanding when something needs a little more spice, a little less salt, or a touch of sweetness. Brought to be the head cook for the raider camp, Lorlia works hard to make sure everyone's belly is full, though things don't always run smoothly as she isn't the greatest at dealing with people. She's commanding, and unlike with her food, she doesn't know when too much is too much. It's difficult to argue with results, even if it's a daily (or hourly) occurrence to hear a high pitched voice piercing the camp with a litany of curses.

Lodging
In the southern part of the camp are tents a plenty, complete with bedding enough for the entirety of the Drykas raiders and workers. No charge to stay here. Everyone is expected to work together to maintain these common living areas. The headmaster has no problem assigning the task to those who don't pull their weight.

Healing
Healers work endlessly as prisoners are brought in and wounded Drykas return. There is no desire for any of those captured to be in any pain. While there is little that can be done about the emotional distress, the physical damage which can occur in a forceful abduction can be treated. The tent smells of all sorts of herbs as skilled practitioners of medicine treat every bite, scratch, or broken bone that is brought to them. No payment is expected of the prisoners, as they've already lost a life as a payment, but the same is not offered to the Drykas.

ImageKiara Whitewind of the Opal Clan
Race: Konti
Birthdate: 80 Spring of 402 AV
Skills: 65 Medicine, 55 Herbalism, 40 Philtering, 57 Philosophy
Gnosis: 2 Healing

Third wife of her husband, Kiara is far from third in the hearts of the hundreds of Drykas she has saved with her great skill in healing. She volunteered immediately when she heard of the plans to begin raiding the neighboring Sylira, not because she was in favor of the decision, but because she knew the trauma which would be involved in such an undertaking. The Konti woman works herself to exhaustion daily, making sure everyone is cared for as best as possible. She quickly establishes herself as somewhat of as shining light to those in the prisoner tents, oft visiting them with words of reassurance and her healing touch.

Prisoners
The situation for the prisoners isn't the greatest, beyond the obvious. They are forced into tents, hands bound, at a minimum. Those who give problems will have their feet bound as well, and their mouth gagged if they won't be quiet despite warnings. There are always at least two Drykas in the tent with prisoners and another placed outside. All, of course, are armed. In the event of a physical altercation with a prisoner, all care will be taken not to seriously or gravely wound them, as they sever no purpose to the Drykas if they are dead.

OOC Info, READ IT :
Alright folks, here's the basecamp, for your pre and post raiding use. There are healers, food, places to rest, and places to drop off anyone you've captured. Interact with other Drykas, or even the scared prisoners. There are various NPCs written up that you can include, too. Or have a conversation with your horse, if that's more your thing. |:)

There is employment to be had here by those not wishing to or who are physically unable to participate in the raids, so let me know. At a minimum there is a call for these:
-Cooks
-Healers
-Guards
-Hunters/foragers
-Slave caretakers (these are to be new Drykas, after all)

But that's not all. If you think of something that could be of use, contact me and maybe we can work it out!

ALSO: You cannot thread here past the morning of the 70th. There will be a modded event that involves everyone in the camp.

Have fun! :D
