Assilsa looked down at the piece of paper again, The merchants district. She had never been here before; It was the wealthy part of town. Looking down at herself, she hissed in disgust. Her white shirt was grey from travel, her vest that hugged her stomach was torn in two different places.
“If only I looked nicer…”
Muttering to herself silently in Symenos, she knocked politely at the address of Rich man’s home
“Coming!”
Taking a small step back Assilsa took in the home. The man lived in a rather large home that from the outside look well kept. She wondered what the inside of the house looked like. After straightening her hair a little bit she stood forward again just as the Rich man opened the door. The man was strikingly handsome, he had big blue eyes with sandy blonde hair that would make someone’s heart melt.
“Afternoon Sir, Im Assilsa of the Curare web. I was sent here to babysit whilst you go out…”
Bobbing her head slowly in greeting she looked back at the man, who was smiling back at her
“Excellent! However you look a bit…” Assilsa noticed the man staring intensely at her claws. Not knowing what to do in reply she just smiled, “Ah… I think you will do fine, Ill give you a quick tour before you met Kaine.”
The man held the door as Assilsa entered, she was taken aback by the beauty of the household. She hung her Jacket on a coat rack and smiled back at the rich man.
“I am Darkis… Theres the living room”
Darkis pointed towards a darkened room filled with chairs made from leathers and fur blankets, nodding Assilsa admired the idea of owning such things, but soon dismissed the thought.
“Kitchen, Kaine usually eats steaks, Can you cook?”
The kitchen was filled with hardwood bench tops and cupboards. Cooking knives and many other utensils Assilsa didn’t know the names to.
“I can cook meat, yes”
“Excellent!”
After Darkis had finished showing Assilsa around, he sat her in the lounge room to go get Kaine. While he was gone, Assilsa ran her hands through the softs furs that covered parts of the Lounge. Darkis came in smiling and behind him followed kaine.
Assilsa stifled a gasp, Kaine was a Zith, a man eating Zith. His wide unblinking eyes in the deepest back. The slightest layer of hair the covered his body was a light grey, the hair matched his black bat wings. Assilsa smiled showing the full extent of her fangs
“Hello Kaine, I am Assilsa” Assilsa said politely, standing up to get closer to the child.
“Ass-il-sa” the boy growled hiding behind Darkis.
“Just call me Silsa” Assilsa took another step forward
“You two seems to be hitting it of so im going to go get some ladies!” With that Darkis basicly ran out the door leaving the Zith and Assilsa alone staring at each other.
Kaines eyes changed from slightly innocent to the eyes of a predator. Frowning Assilsa took another step forward.
“Kaine? You hungry?”
In return Assilsa received a low pitch growl from the child. Frowning slightly she approached kaine.
“You okay?”
Within a matter of seconds the child was in the air heading straight for Assilsa. She hissed slightly and dived to the floor. She could still hear him flying around above her head, she started to slowly crawl towards the hall she only made it halfway before Kaine realised.
He landed on Assilsa’s back claws first, she hissed, feeling the anger build up inside her. He continued to claw at her back as she crawled to the hallway.
“Kaine! Stop it now!”
She almost screamed at the child, that caused him to hesitate momentarily giving Assilsa time to get out from underneath the child. She thought of looking back however she couldn’t risk it she need to clear her head, she ran through the house, she could hear the beet of wings behind her, she didn’t stop until she found a room with a door, the bathroom. Slamming the Assilsa leant against the door just as the Zith child slammed against it.
“Okay…. Okay…. Breath…in…out…”
Assilsa panted, She began to think of ways to survive the night…
“I could feed the child a big enough meal so he falls asleep,”
She murmured to herself in Symenos, so the child couldn’t understand
“Or maybe! I could just hide in here all night! No! what if the child gets out?”
“I could tie it up!”
Finally thinking of a worth wild idea Assilsa stood up and looked for something to bind the child for the night so she could feed it, bath it and send it to bed. She only found towels…
“I could….”
Lost for things to use as binding she sat down in defeat, she rubbed her eyes with the selves of her under shirt, as Kaine hit the door again.
“My shirt…”
Assilsa looked down at her shirt, could she just wear her vest? It was cut a little low at the chest, but not to low… taking her vest of she begins to take the white undershirt.
With her vest back on she inspected the back of her white shirt. It was torn the shreds unlike her vest, which only had two claw marks, However the undershirt was still considerably strong, with a sigh she started to rip that shirt to strips. Assilsa leant against the door as Kaine scratched at it growling, holding three strips in her hand she lightly tied a knot around the door knob and her foot. Taking of her boots, she felt a litte angry that she was being forced to scale the walls again, like a child. When she reached the top of the wall she released the door knob and Kaine fell into the bathroom, with a savage growl he searched the bathroom.
“I am truly sorry Kaine”
with a hiss Assilsa jumped down landing on Kaine, the young boy growled and struggled, but Assilsa soon had him pinned underneath her. When he stopped struggling she tied his wings, feet and hands
“Let me go!” he shrilled at her
“Kaine No! You attack me I attack you! Simple! Now you can hop to the kitchen or I’m going to drag you!”
The child growled at Assilsa but did not resist as she half carried half dragged Kaine towards the kitchen. Kaine put all his weight on his feet as they entered the doorway to the kitchen. Assilsa hissed in anger, This child was getting on her nerves.
“Raw or Cooked?”
“Cooked”
He spat at her, she just forced him to sit in a chair in the kitchen and pulled out a tray to put the steak on. She was only turned around for a minute but when she turned around, the only remains of the Zith child were the shreds of her shirt. Assilsa tsked and felt her canines extend and a tasted a little bit of poison in her mouth, spitting out of the window. A sudden force at Assilsa’s legs made her fall to the ground, there were a crunches as she hit the ground, moaning in pain, Assilsa remembered her venom… Could she bite the child just to knock him out for a while? No it wasn’t right.
“Kaine!”
Assilsa almost cried at the child, but he didn’t stop. Assilsa pushed the boy off her back and came at the child with her claws
“You will go to your room now! I will bring food to you soon!”
she almost yelled at the Zith child, she scratched the child’s chest lightly, the boy growled back when Assilsa stood back up of the Zith he stood to and started to walk to his bedroom,
“It seems too good to be true…”
she whispered to herself, as she watched the boy stalk to the end of the hall, a slamming door told Assilsa that he had in fact gone to bed, she relaxed slightly. Assilsa walked into the longue room and collapsed on the lounge, within moments she was asleep.
Assilsa was jolted awake by the feeling of fur rubbing against her bare arms, when she opened her eyes.
“Why is the furniture on the roof?” she asked herself softly. Her brain was still slow with sleep it took her a while to realise that she was the one on the roof. She wiggled and found that she couldn’t move her feet.
“Are you stu-pid or something?”
a growl came from above her, Kaine. How could this small child have put a fifteen year old on the roof?
“KAINE!” she yelled as she heard the soft beats of his wings, “LET ME DOWN NOW!”
By the sound of the tinkling Kaine had tied her to the Chandelier by her feet, her hair just touched the floor, however it was still a long way to the floor. Assilsa tried to reach up to her feet but Kain soon pushed her back down with a growl of anger, Assilsa gave her own growl of anger feeling her teeth grow again, she saw kaine land underneath her, growling again she tried to grab him. She could feel the blood rushing to her head, the child just sat there and laughed, Assilsa growled and reached again for the child
“Kaine! I will tell your father!”
She shrilled at the Zith, Assilsa began swinging in hope to dislodge the bonds tied to her ankles, She could hear the chandelier creaking as she swung, cringing she stopped. What could she do to convince the child to let her down?...
“Fine! You won’t let me down I will just go to sleep here!”
Assilsa closed her eyes and pretended to snore slightly
“No! Don’t you are my prisoner you must stay awake!”
the little zith yelled at Assilsa, she laughed slightly and continued to snore
“Slave! I command you to stay awake!”
The child continued to scream at his apparent ‘slave’
“Slave? I don’t recall my name being slave!” She growled at the child
“Silsa!”
the child almost cried at the hanging Symenestra, who then smiled in victory at the child
“Yes that’s it, now would you care to take me down?”
“No! Your still my prisoner!”
Assilsa laughed as the small child jumped up and down, she had to admit she did prefer the child like this compared to when she first arrived, her only hope was that it would last.
After a few hours of her hanging upside down, she did fall asleep. She was plagued with dreams of home and small Symenestrain children, of which Assilsa would never have and the home that Assilsa would never set foot in again if she had a choice. She awoke to the sound of laughter… It was a dreamy sort of sound but even in the midst of a dream the laughter sounded sinister.
Blinking away the last of her dream Assilsa felt small, but strong hands. Assilsa breathe caught in her throat she looked down to see Kaine sleeping on top of her holding her neck, once she continued to breathe she smiled.
Assilsa began to sing softly in Symenos, the words melting into a liquid form and soon those sinister laughs became soft murmurs. Relaxing slightly Assilsa looked back up to the roof. So far not one person had shown her absolute kindness, this child had destroyed her white undershirt and she now had rips in the shoulders in her vest she couldn’t wear this as good clothing no longer.
‘Maybe I can still were this around the docks’
She thought to herself as the Door clicked quietly, she turned her head towards the hall way, she noticed that the fixture was still intact, which was a relief. Drakis walked into her view and smiled slightly.
“Did you manage to get ‘lucky’ Darkis” Assilsa asked, Darkis smiled and walked into the lounge room
“I did alright, How was Kaine?” Assilsa breathe caught in her throat slightly as she remembered the course of events that happened that night
“A little angel” She smiled back patting the child’s hair, “However, he is crushing me slightly can you help me move him?” Darkis looked shocked slightly but then rushed toward Assilsa picking up Kaine. Assilsa moved out of the way so Darkis could put the child back onto the lounge.
“That’s sweet, oh! Were you wearing that before?” Assilsa could see the man trying to remember what she was wearing before, she just laughed and shook her head
“So! Have I completed this task to your satisfaction?” she asked straitening her Vest, her eyes widen in shock as she realised that she had left her boots in the bathroom. “One moment!” She quickly added running to bathroom and grabbing her boots before coming back.
“Anyway continue…” She smiled at Darkis putting her boots back on
“I’ll just give you this letter so that the barman knows you’ve completed the job for me. Thank so much for taking care of Kaine”
Darkis looked around for a piece of paper and a pen to write down Assilsa letter of completion.
After accepting the Letter with a polite smile Assilsa collect her Coat and the letter of completion and made her way back to the Spot with one last glance at the Rich mans house
