Summer 75th 513 AV
He had sworn that he just had went to bed, but yet he was wide awake feeling as if he had slept for days. He was cold as he walked down the road and out of the front gates stopping in the feild as if something was calling him there. It was clear as day but the city was empty. The merchant stalls were all closed and there were no travelers in sight walking through the gates of Riverfall. It was like the city had died and took everyone and thing with it exept himself. He stood there quietly looking at his surrondings to see if there were any forms of life about the lifeless enviroment. None...It was completely quiet. No sign of anything no horses no birds not even the annoying chatter of the crowds of people that are always bussling about moving in and out of the city. He sat upon the grass. Was this real? Was he actually dead? He pulled up the grass from the earth, sniffed it, and then ate it resulting in him spitting it out in disgust. Well it smelled and tasted like grass, then again he was dead so he probably just remembered how the grass smelled and tasted. He looked around for another way to prove himself. Alas there was nothing. It was only him, byhimself, alone in a feild with the only real company being a tree not too far from him. Well he was dead, so it wasn't like he could hurt himself. He stood up from the ground, backed up a few feet and started running full speed toward the tree. If it hurt to run into the tree then he wasn't dead...but if it didn't...then what?. He was only a few more steps from the tree when he leaned foward and tackled the bark pillar connecting with his shoulder spinning him around, and planting him hard onto the ground. Well he knew one thing for sure...He wasn't dead.
He picked himself up off the ground exercising his now aching shoulder. If he wasn't dead, then this wasn't the after life. What was this place? Was it a illusion of some sort? Did he get into a fight with a mage or something and got placed in this false world? Couldn't have. The last thing he remembered was buying a pastry from the bakery and going back to his fathe...Anoves house to sleep for the night to prepare for their training in the morning. He decided to stop by the butcher's shop that was unfortunately closed, so he decided to go to the stables to find him considering that's where he would most likely be. He took the back alley's and finally got to the stables and....Everything went dark after that. He couldn't remember if he found the butcher let alone got to Anove's house. That still didn't explain where he was or why he was here. "Wrong! again." He heard Anove's all to familliar voice. He turned around hoping to see the Akalak only to see something much more disturbing. Anove was there, but not alone. There was a younger Akalak with him...way younger, a child. "Again!" Anove called out to the obviously tired and worn out child. The two were training at the tree that told him that he wasn't dead. "One..Two...Three!" Anove called out the commands as the child punched the tree with his fist. "Haha good! The days training is complete you can go now." Anove said watching the little one run off in the empty streets.
He walked up to Anove so they were standing face to face. He had gotten taller. He was now about a inch taller than Anove since they last met. The older Akalak stood there hands in his pockets staring him dead lock in his eyes. Was Anove actually looking at him, or was it just the position that they were standing. "Go get 'em...show 'em who you are...show 'em that you are truly my son." Anvoe spoke before he turned around and dissappeared behind the tree. What was he talking about and how did he just vanish like that? Then again there were a plethora of other things that was wrong with this place. But still was he talking to him?. Once again he was alone. "Hey you..come here" a male voice come here. He looked around there was no one in sight. It was official he had started to go crazy. It always started like that then he would slowly go fully insane. He needed to sit down and really think about what was going on. Trying to recall his actions before this point he could no concentrate due to the laughter that kept interupting his thoughts. Couldn't a man go insane in peace? He stood back up stretching his stiff limbs, when the Akalak child that was training earlier reappered at the front gates looking in his direction giggling.
This child looked all to familiar. His hair had been cut not professionally, but as if it was long once before and grabbed and randomly cut thus resulting in the wild medium dress that it was now. He was tall looked around 14 years but sounded as if he could be 12. He could tell that the child was watching him with his hazel colored eyes as he moved toward the boy. Maybe he knows whats going on here. Then the boy ran. In through the gates and up the road. Why did he run? He didn't mean to frighten the lad. He ran as well following the child running at a pace so he could keep up while making it seem that he was struggling. He followed the child past the arena and to the right of the Labor aid going toward the bridge. He was gaining up to the child now as they came up apon the bridge and coming to a stop in the middle. The child sat on the rail of the bridge looking down into the water as if he were thinking of something....Then he jumped. No! he thought to himself as he ran after the child. He had done the same when he was younger and almost drown if it wasn't for a merchant fishing further down stream. He landed in the water with a big splash. Who knows how long he stayed under the water looking for the child, but he was running out of air. He tried to swim upward but he forgot that he could not. It was too late anyways. He could feel his lungs straining to get the little air they had left to keep him alive, but it was too late. He closed his eyes letting the water take him. He was an animal caught by a predator.
Every thing was warm his body hot and itchy. Opening his eyes he was staring up into the blue sky. Everything was confusing. Realizing that he was now in the Sea of Grass once he stood up, he heard the voice call again as a tall figure moved over to an open field where no grass grew. Not wasting any time, he ran following the path of the figure until he himself came out in the opening standing not too far away from what seemed to be another Akalak. "It's about time you got here." the all too familiar voice spoke without turning around. It was Duce. He could recongnize the voice anywhere, but why was he here and not in his head? "What's going on here?" Duse demanded walking up to his mental brother but stopping when he drew his Lakan out. Now he was ticked. "So now you're ready to claim your body." Duse spoke looking for something to defend himself with. "Yes. I have come to take My body.. Duce turned around showing the markings of a Cruelean upon his face. Now he was really confused. Why was Duce marked? Wasn't he the Light personality. "You really are stupid aren't you?". Ok that's it he was going down Duse started walking toward Duce again who raised the Lakan making him stop again. "So let me get this right. You were the dark personality all this time? He asked angry that he did not know what was going on."So you really are smarter than you look. You see when you almost drowned when you fell into the river, a door opened for me to come in and take your pathetic body, but no you couldn't stay down long enough and came back to life when i was just walking through the door. I was able to dominate your personality, but as you got stronger it got harder. So now I'm going to end this once and for all. So come on so we can get this over with. I have a life to live."
"You are a coward!" Duse barked to the man he was going to defeat. "Why don't you just come at me man to man and we can settle this that way?". He knew he had no chance against Duce while he had the Lakan in his hand, but he may have a chance if they went hand to hand. He was relieved when Duce threw the Lakan down and spread out his arms signalling Duse to come at him. He was furious at the fact that he had let his life by used and for being lied to. He ran toward Duce ready for an all out brawl, feeling weeker with every step he took toward the Akalak. "Hmph. Pathetic." He was moving too slow and was too close to Duce to try to avoid the punch that hit him dead in the face. What was happening, why could he not hit him. He tried again moving in at an angle but only to get the same result.
"Fool. You're energy is nothing comapred to mine." Duce said mocking him. "That's enough!" Duse screamed at his target rushing back in. He felt his energy depleating as he got closer. He struggled to keep his energy up. He could feel the power of Duce pushing him back as he came up to strike. Only a few more feet and he was there. He continued to struggled to keep moving. He was at the strongest point of Duce's energy. He felt his energy boarderlining empty...he was ready to fall to defeat when he suddenly felt his energy surge up. He felt stronger he was now in arms reach of Duce as he leaped foward placing a hard right in his jaw. He was out of breath, but his energy soared. He was ready watching Duce get back up. "Turns out your not as weak as I thought, but I'm not the one you have to beat."
Duce nodded his head to the bright light on the horizon that was quickly closing. "First one there wins." Duse didn't hesitate at the comment as he sprinted for the light. It looked like a miles travel. He knew that he could make it. "Not so fast." he heard Duce say as he fell down and hit the ground. He wa tired of these games. He scrambled to get back up kicking Duce is the process. The two stared each other down, both trying to raise their energy higher than the others. This was it. The final battle that would change everything for Duse. He moved in bobbing and weaving dodging the first few punches and getting grazed on the lip before placing his own. He was determined to hold the body for himself. He tackled Duce to the ground pinning him down and dealing heavy blows to his ribs. He felt the Akalaks muscles tighten around his neck blocking his airway. He couldn't breath. Flashbacks of his life flew through his mind. He could remember! Everything from his childhood rushed through his mind. Slowly faded away into blackness as he strained for air. "No! not this time!"
Duce summoned all the streanth that he could muster up and lifted Duce off the ground and slamming him back down loosining the grip on his neck letting him free. He was furious at the false Akalak dealing heavy punches to his face and then to his abdomen when he blocked his upper half. Duce let out a surprise jab that got Duse off him, but Duse was resentless and kicked the downed Akalak in the chin dazing him and alowing him to reposition himself to throw out more punches. The air echoed with the sound of Duse striking his now enemy drawing blood with each strike. Overwhelmed he stopped his flurry of attacks noticing that the Akalak was no longer responding to the feeling of being punched. Duse looked back at the door which was almost closed. "I refuse to stay here." he said struggling to get up to retrieve his Lakan. His body hurting, he lumbered to the door taking one last look behind him at the decieving Cruelean that tried to kill him. "You are nothing you coward. You are nameless and shall be supressed forevermore. I am Duce.".
He woke up in a daze behind the stables in a pile of hay feeling refreshed and...different. His head ached as he recalled every thing that took place only a few moments ago. "Nothing." He said trying to sense the energy of the Akalak that just tried to kill him and take over his body. He quickly moved over to a nearby puddle to look at his reflection to see who he really was. His stomach ached and cried to be fed which couldn't be right considering the pastry that he had just before he blacked out. He stared at the reflection in the puddle. He was surprised at who stared back at him. The Akalak in the puddle had hazel brown eyes with a hint of green. His hair was wild and at a medium lenth. He was relieved. He had done it. "Duce!" he heard Anoves voice call out. "We finally found you! Where have you been.?". He could remember now. It was coming slow, but all of his childhood memories flowed into his mind. "There is no need to worry Ano...I mean father. I was only gone for a bell." He said trying to get back up but could only bring about the energy to stand and lean onto the wall. Anove was speechless at for a second until he gathered his thoughts. "My...son..you have been missing for...7 bells. The baker, butcher, and I have been searching for you ever since the 6th bell this afternoon.". He took some time to take all of it in. That would explain why he was so hungry. "My son are you ok? Tell me were you attacked? I will have all the guards look for your attackers." Duce smiled at the offer surprised that he had made it out of his battle alive. "Yes I am ok. Just hungry. It's a long story that I will tell you on our way to the butcher's to pick out meat to serve.". With that said, Duce held himself of using his fathers shoulders and the two walked out from behind the stables remenincing about old times. |
