A Road Less Travelled or so I Thought (Kaie, Jervis)

He almost started to argue that he had meant just that but stopped himself. It was probably just the way she was but talking more wouldn't help things. Kaie seemed a woman of actions not words so he made a decision not to speak again unless spoken too. He thought his plan was a good one so he decided to stick with it.

"As you command Mistress." He said happily with deep bow looking up at her with that same joyous grin, before quickly running off to set things in order.

First he went to the lake refilling his water flask quickly and screwing on the top. Next he quickly jumped on the wagon and rode it to the far side of the glade with almost comical haste, where he back it up to the tree line. He knew he couldn't take the cart but he could leave it here crippled and perhaps return to repair it.

He quickly unloaded his equipment and supplies but in an organized manner beside marble, before removing the creatures harness. Next he pushed the cart about ten feet into the foliage. He emerged rolling two wagon wheels in front of him a few minutes later moving furiously to not be left behind by Kaie for taking too long.

Jervis was practiced at packing a horse though, so he set about his work with thought and precision. Luckily mountain pony's were a hearty breed able to carry heavy loads than there small frame suggested. Still he wanted his friend to be as comfortable as possible as well. He put his riding gear on marble before spreading out his blanket. Over her flanks and laying his saddlebags over that and strapping them on. He packed smaller things like dried food in the saddlebags trying to keep it balanced.

Next he set to work organizing things in his crate, hefting it first to test it's weight. First he emptied his tools lining then lined the crate with the small amount of iron he'd brought for crafting purposes. Next he placed his bick iron at what he considered the back followed by placing his heavier tools iron drill, smithing hammer, metal saw opposite the bick iron. He placed the remaining items carefully in the center ending by placing his bellows on top of it all. It was tight but it all fit carefully placed. He hefted it again about thirty pounds and heavier towards the back, more than his coal still fix that with his skills he fix it with the harness.

He took out his rope and made a simple harness from it, Tying his barrel and remains of log to one side and his tools on the other, leaving enough length on either side to hang just below his saddle bags. He knew had added about fifteen pounds to the coal with the addition of the log so they were five pounds closer he though giving harness a heft.

He took the ten pounds of stone he'd gathered out of the bottom of his rucksack setting it as before taking off his damaged cassock and tossing his over his saddle as he'd started to sweat with the furious pace he was trying to set.

Izzy had long since left his side but Jervis hadn't noticed, nor noticed that he'd taken up that place as his perch. Izzy crawled out and stuck his tongue out at Jervis in displeasure before crawling to a new perch atop marble's head though Jervis failed to notice this either.

Jervis cut the stone in a half crudely with his hand, as his time was growing short already and he still had much to do. He quickly molded it around the rope on the harness on top of the side with the crate. He stepped into the center of his harness and tested it's weight.

good about thirty five pounds on either side and the much more balanced on crate side with the addition of that stone. He thought as he quickly placed the harness on his horse's flanks. Next he placed his larger sacks of walnuts and oatmeal, as well as his case hardening box. He divided the remained of the amongst his saddlebags and shoulder duffle quickly opting for speed over balance with the remaining items. The final touch was he laid his tarp down over his things to protect them from the weather, folding it to achieve the size he wanted using the wagon wheels he'd taken and some rope as weights to hold it. Tying it to the other harness tightly with some rope was his final act.

Not even taking time to admire his work Jervis quickly packed his cassock in his shoulder duffle climbed onto marble's back. Finally noticing Izzy he motioned for him to get onto his shoulder as he set marble into a medium trot.

He was covered in a sheen sweat with that same dopey, joyous smile on his face as he approached Kaie from about halfway across the glade when he'd figured his time would be up, though he was unsure of exactly how long a tick was he'd assumed minutes. He said nothing though waved at her as he approached.

INTERVENTION

Traveling? Alone? Unaccompanied? In such a small group? Through the Cobalt Mountains no less? I think not. Any travel beyond the immediate purview of Syliras is fraught with peril. Caravans going into and out of the Mountains, along the Kabrin Road and basically anywhere in Mizahar are heavily armed and usually consists of anywhere between 15-30 people at the very least. That's for long distance travel. If you were headed to say..the Mithryn Outpost or simply making a camping expedition into the wild to improve your Wilderness Survival skills I could totally understand.

Kaie, you do have Competent Wilderness Survival but that is sufficient for only 14 days and you've stated you have been traveling for 9 already. That leaves 5 days before something dramatically awful will happen and you are a very long ways from any sort of assistance whatsoever.

If you want to travel in Mizahar, it takes a lot of thought, planning and effort. You do not just pack up and leave on a whim unless you possess a considerable repertoire of skills to draw from. You, do not.

Either rewrite your posts to reflect the circumstances or this thread is null and void. Contact me when you've reached a decision one way or the other.

EDITAfter discussions with Ms. Kaie the contents of this thread have been voided due to the logistics of travel not being at all feasible as it pertains to this particular instance.-10/05/2013
