A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

Ademonalai sat herself down on a corner of the street and gazed long the road at all the many and exotic people that she saw.

Becoming Known (Open)

Postby Ademonalai on July 30th, 2010, 12:34 am

Ademonalai couldn't help but staring at all that was going on in this city around her. From where she came from, she had never see anything so amazing or busy. She felt so small, so... lost. Her medium height and ragged clothes she kept hidden under a hooded cloak of dark green. Her mix-matched eyes and slightly distressed stare she kept under the uncut bangs of her dark blond hair.

The only thing that Ademonalai remembered about her parents was on a boat. A small boat that always smelled of fish and seaweed. She remembered that her father was a big, burly man that sold fish for a living, and her mother, a quiet and calm woman, wove seaweed baskets to hold the fish that Ademonalai's father caught.

Then Ademonalai remembered a huge storm. She supposed that her parents died and that the boat capsized; she didn't really know, that part of her memory was blank.

But she remembered waking up in the arms of a strange woman on a beach. The woman and her husband, who Ademonalai came to call Aunt and Uncle though she had no relation to them, took Ademonalai in and reaised her in their little hut by the coast.

Aunt and Uncle took ill after eating some bad fish one day, so Ademonalai spent her entire thirteenth year of life taking care of them. After the year was over, both Aunt and Uncle passed away. Ademonalai buried them and marked their graves with big stones on which Ademonalai had offered proper funeral sacrifices and prayers.

After that, Ademonalai had left the coast. She traveled far and wide, eventually coming here, to Ravok. All she had to her name was her clothes and a small sack that held her money, her food, and a necklace that Aunt had made for her. In a pouch of seaweed that her mother, Ademonalai carried a copper ring that belonged to her father. Hidden in her silver sailors belt, Ademonalai carried a dagger made of stone and glass.

Becoming Known (Open)

Postby Halleck on August 8th, 2010, 5:00 am

Halleck hurriedly stormed down the streets of Ravok, his panicked eyes constantly glancing over his shoulder as if expecting some specter to spontaneously manifest itself and consume him whole. It probably wasn't rare to see a man stricken by insanity, paranoia, fear, obsession. It was, however, probably fairly uncommon to see a man engulfed by all of the above symptoms, and to lack all control to contain or mask said emotions. In fact, Halleck practically collided with Ademonalai as he moved, barely six inches separated the two as he moved by without grace, and without so much as a glance of acknowledgment in her general direction.

Halleck, soon after passing the woman, ducked into an alleyway and peered into his closed fist where he held some three or four sticks of white powder chalk, tools of his manic obsession, tools of his own psychotic pursuit, tools surely of his own mental destruction. The man abruptly stopped in that alleyway, believing himself to be alone, and knelt down. Without hesitation, he began to draw on the ground. Symbols, not of any particular language or vocabulary, but of something ancient, along with its meaning of course.

Halleck's fingers trembled with anxiety as he moved them across the ground, yet the shapes somehow came out with extreme clarity, as if his fingers would turns stone solid and lifeless as the chalk caressed the stone walkway under him. Slowly, carefully, Halleck continued said process. To any magician, even one such as a novice, it was be painfully obvious he was attempting at glyphing, and probably trying to produce something significantly stronger than his skill would allow.

A single bead of sweat began to form on his face, trailing slowly down his nose, and being unchecked as it was, managed to roll off and to the ground below. The liquid droplet crashed into the chalk line Halleck was working on, and with that sudden disturbance, his eyes swiftly shifted to see the blemish in his art. The line was ruined, the glyph was meaningless now. Halleck felt his heart sink, as if it was his last piece of chalk wasted and he had failed, rather than him having another ninety-nine pieces ready for use. Still though, it was a failure, something he, nor Mizahar (in his mind) could afford.

Ademonalai gasped in shock when Halleck rushed by her. She fell to the ground as he disappeared into the alley. She sat there on the curb and looked in the direction that the man ran. Not seeing him, she stood and brushed the dirt from her cloak. Checking her belt to make sure that the dagger was still there, she hurried to the nearest fountain.

Once there, she drew the dagger from its sheath and slid the blade across the surface of the water. A rift formed in the water and out walked a spirit, a phantom of Ademonalai's creation. She had learned to create such a being on her journey from the coast. It had been Ademonalai's companion, and she called it Canirac.

After summoning the ghost, Ademonalai told the ghost about the man who had nearly hit her. Canirac listened carefully and thoughtfully. The two of them continued walking throught he busy streets, the girl and the spirit. Ademonalai bought food and sat upon the edge of the street to eat. She wondered about the man who disappeared until it faded into homesickness. The busy city frightened her quite a bit and the lonely hut near the sea seemed so far away.

Timestamp: 54th of summer

Geras spent his days traveling Sylira, and his latest destination was Ravok. The trip here had been unsettlingly uneventful, but he eventually put the troubling feelings aside and continued with his quest to become famous. He entered the city without much trouble and looked around. As he walked, he saw a worried girl and a spirit sitting on the street's edge, eating. He didn't have much else to do so he sat by her. "What's troublin' ya?" he asked.

55th of Summer

Ademonalai glanced up at the stranger and answered " I just came to Ravok today, and some guy with a perplexing aura hit me and made me fall. I miss where I came from, but I can't go back. I don't know anyone here and I feel... confused and lost." She felt stupid when she began tearing up, so she quickly used her cloak to wipe her eyes.

Geras didn't have any experience in comforting people, but he tried his best. He tried to smile as wide as he could, but it ended up looking more creepy than comforting, so he tried a new approach. "I'm a stranger to this place too, so don't worry. We can explore the city together. I'm Geras, a traveler. I spend my days wandering the continent, but going solo gets lonely sometimes. I guess that's a sacrifice you have to make when you're trying to become famo-" He stopped abruptly in mid-sentence and suddenly changed the topic. "Wait, did you say you could sense auras?"

Ademonalai giggled at Gera's attempt at a smile. "My name is Ademonalai. I am a self-taught mage. And I suppose you could say I sense auras. Originally Canirac, this shade, told me what the person's aura was like until I could read them on my own. But the look on the guy's face was self explanitory too. Inner turmoil, you could say."

"Perhaps he was mad," He said bluntly. He then stood up and said in his usual high-spirited tone, "Anyway, how about accepting my offer? Maybe there's an arena here, or a good place to eat!"

"Sounds great. I suppose I have nothing better to do. I just desided to come to Ravok." Ademonalai stood and pointed at Canirac with the stone dagger. To him she said "Thank you." Canirac dissolved into mist and was swallowed by the weapon.
