The Kalinor Research Facility
To enter the facility one would only need to follow the fine silken ropes attached to the silk path going to the Purging itself, non-Symenestra that are not patients will need to be carried in directly from this path.
Situated next to the Purging for convienence, the Kalinor Research Facility is devoted to solving the mystery of Symenestra problems, and discovering the secret to fix said afflictions namely dealing with fatal pregnancies for Symenestra mothers; and sometimes other ailments that pop up in the city. The facility itself is not a place of healing, it is a place for experimenting, and finding cures from those tests with only a small staff to work on making this happen. Shorthanded, and eager to recieve practitioners devoted to the same cause as the original scientists.
The location itself is small, made from the classic stalagamites dripping down the cavern's ceiling and its exterior is wrapped in silks of bright blue and green. For every level there is, a new bubble droops down right beside the main largest. The mainhall is both the entrance and exit of the Facility, and recieves the incoming supplies, test subjects, and staff; one could see many cubby holes in the walls specially made to have small doors and locks to hold documentation of previous findings. In the middle of the floor would be a spiral staircase going down to the labs.
The spiral staircase leads to an open aired pathway, but has been modifyed to have rails to prevent people from falling off. The first lab is to the right, where the door has been placed into the side of the stalagmite bubble. This lab is for the beginners that wish to further their knowledge on medicine and biology; here a tutor can be found if one wants to learn past a basic Mene Madras education. The tools and supplies in this lab are generally very old, and some are even chipped, and broken, newer lab supplies are for the priveledged practitioners in the second lab.
Hanging from the first lab, and the cavern ceiling, further below is the second lab for the more seasoned scientist where the spiral staircase ends as part of the stalagmite and into wooden platforms to loop around the bubble so a door can be opened. This lab is not specifically meant for the examination of patients, it is similar to the first lab above, but with better tools, and better supplies, more so to go over the data collected than conduct true experiments. The examination room would be for that, a conjointed bubble between the Purging and the facility for a patients easy access.
The patients are both female Symenestra, brave, noble women with the dedication to go through a fatal pregnancy, and surrogates who will experience the same fate most likely against their will. While the former patient has the choice to allow themselves to be inspected, the latter has no choice whatsoever. Examination is painless, and developed to be life non-threatening so as to keep the population of Kalinor going; because even though a cure will not be found in the near future, it is important to continue the Symenestra race so others may pick up the current progress made.
To learn from the Facility, one would only need to apply in the mainhall with the Head Research Director, if he is not busy in the lab farthest below. Requirements to learn would to have some experience in Medicine and Biology, anything else may be taught later on by the tutor of the facility. To become an official scientist, one would need at least competency in both medicine and biology. There is also no need to fear whether you have different views than Fiernan's, the few scientists there are non-Esterian, but all five scientists have the same common goal that allows them to cooperate: Fixing the Symenestra problem.
