Dreams have their own internal logic, usually. But Jorin's dreams, apparently, don't even have that.

Unknown Bell

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

A bell was ringing, but Jorin couldn't tell from where. He was in a room. At least it looked like a room ... the walls were barren. Patterns swirled on them but he couldn't make out anything specific. He tried to concentrate but the more he did, the more the colors seemed to shift and turn and bend, as though they were alive. He gave up, moving, no floating toward the door.

Or was it a door? It looked more like an aperture. The swirling colors gave way to a blinding brightness that was almost overwhelming, and Jorin had to shield his eyes with his hands, except it didn't seem to work. The brightness was too great, and he ... was in the sky?

The clouds drifted by quietly, large balls of cotton that almost glowed in the warm sun. That infernal bell was still ringing. Ding. Ding. Ding. Jorin couldn't tell where it was coming from. It was coming from nowhere. It was coming from everywhere. He tried to move, but discovered that he seemed rooted to that particular area of space. The clouds floated past, almost mocking his lack of mobility.

Jorin took a deep breath. For some reason, he couldn't close his eyes, and the sun seemed to always be behind him no matter how he turned. What ... where was he? He couldn't see the ground. Maybe if he grabbed one of the clouds, he could hitch a ride? It was as good an idea as any, so he waited, and waited. Finally, one of the clouds drifted by close enough and he latched on, only to fall into the gray puffiness. His breath became more and more labored as he fell further and further into the grayness until he hit something solid with a thump.

Now what?! Jorin looked around. It didn't occur to him that, logically, this would now be inside a cloud. It seemed completely natural that he should now be inside what looked to be a large, abandoned building made from wood and brick. There was a long hallway that branched in the distance, the smooth walls having no doors. But the ceiling was open to the "sky", which only showed what looked to be a mirror image of the same hallway, in reverse, like a mirror. But ... something was off. It wasn't a mirror.

Jorin could see that the hallway above him did have doors. Many, many doors. And grinning down (up?) at him was his own reflection. Jorin just stared at his mirror image, whose enigmatic grin never left his face. The mirror Jorin gave a small sarcastic wave and disappeared into one of the many doors.

For some reason, Jorin knew he had to follow. He marched down the hall, until he reached the branch, where the hall split two ways. No three. No ... it was impossible to tell. He tried to focus, but the divisions seemed to morph and split and combine until he couldn't tell if there were two branches or twenty. Jorin decided to just go forward, so forward he went. The hallway shifted endlessly, before settling down, and he could see the mirror hallway above. Except now, he was in the long hall with many doors. Which door did the mirror Jorin enter?

He couldn't remember. So he picked one. It wouldn't open. Jorin struggled, and strained, and finally the door burst open, the darkness within almost consuming him. The room, there was a room behind this door. For some reason, Jorin knew that, and yet when he'd opened it, he found nothing but an inky void. He could feel a cold chill run down his spine as he slammed the door shut. He leaned against the wall and slid down to his knees.

That empty void terrified him, and he looked at the other doors with trepidation. He did not dare try them. Somewhere inside, for whatever reason, Jorin knew that time was running out but he was scared. Paralyzed. He didn't know what to do.

Ever so slowly, the nothingness grew, took shape, and lost it once more. Undulating faintly, it moved towards Jorin. A growl was heard. The door so freshly shut shuddered gently. Was that the darkness? Was that the emptiness? It set tingles dancing across the young man's skin, so eerie, so inhuman.

And yet, were those fingers reaching out from beneath the door? No. No finger Jorin knew was hooked so at the end; no finger looked so capable of ripping his soul from his body, his mind from the realm of sanity. As he watched, the fingers would shatter and break apart, scattering little voids all across the ground around him.

But, they too began to move, to skitter audibly upon spindly legs fashioned from eternity itself. Their tiny mandibles seemed to move with utter surety as they closed in on him, making that horridly hungry click-click-clack. If he were to stare too long at the little creatures, they would grow and grow until large enough to swallow him hole. They had no outer depth, but appeared as if reality itself had been cut away to reveal something more sinister.

Ding. Ding. Dooonnnngggg...

The bell was this time dropping in pitch until it was the toll of a chapel's bell, signalling a great tragedy. But what had occurred? Or were they foretelling something not yet come to pass?

More fingers slid from beneath the door, this time creating long creatures with thousands of legs and bodies, wriggling writhing bodies that defied any physics of the mortal realm.

All of these little voids, these little creatures of pure darkness, pure emptiness, were heading directly towards Jorin.

OOCNo one seems to jump into Dreamscapes these days. :P My own first time doing it. Do have fun. XD Hope it all makes sense. My hands just kind of started moving oddly.

Ding. Ding. Dooonnnggg.....
The sound of a chapel bell woke Save with a start. As she frantically looked around, she saw a sight that terrified and almost disgusted her. Thousands of little dark creatures were heading towards what appeared to be a helpless human. As she bolted upright she tried to scream. She tried to run; but no sound came out, and her legs didn't want to obey her.

Save watched uselessly as the sticky tendrils of darkness approached him. She tried to scream again but somehow she couldn't even open her mouth. Her mind went into overdrive trying to think of a way to help the human...Where were they and how did they get there? What in the name of insanity was going on here? This had to be a horrible nightmare....

She closed her eyes and concentrated.

Please be ok. Please please please please.

Dooonnnggg....

There was that bell again.... Something bad was going to happen...perhaps it already had...

Season of Fall, Day 41, 513 AV

Things had taken quite a sinister turn, as the door disgorged little creatures that came straight from Jorin's worst nightmares. The horrible clicking and clacking sounds they made, along with the inhuman nature of their movement, sent shivers down Jorin's spine. He couldn't help staring at them, and as he did so they seemed to grow in the most unnerving and grotesque way. Something was wrong. Something was wrong here.

The sound of the bell seemed to get longer and longer, stretching out like the little creatures were stretching out as he looked at them, until it went from a light "ding" to a low and heavy "Dooooonnnnggg". The sound reverberated through the room, and his vision wavered slightly as the nightmares drew ever closer. For a few horrifying ticks, Jorin was utterly paralyzed, and nothing around him seemed real anymore. Then suddenly, he noticed another presence.

It appeared to be a young woman, with long, loose black hair and green eyes like his own. She seemed just as terrified as himself, staring with wide eyes at the skittering creatures that seemed ready to devour him. One of the nightmares lunged at him, but did not yet reach him, only landing a few feet away. The fear, however, did not subside despite the fact the creature didn't actually touch him. Something told him, however, that something horrible would happen if one of these monsters actually caught him.

Jorin rose shakily to his feet, and ran toward the girl. Perhaps she was also a nightmare. Maybe she too would turn into one of those inky black creatures as soon as he reached or touched her but for now, she was the only thing that wasn't made of darkness, the only person there who seemed normal.

Jorin wanted to speak, but no words came out of his mouth. He was a bit surprised by this, but nonetheless he grabbed the girl's hand and dashed for one of the other doors. He had no idea where he was going, but anywhere was better than here, amongst those nightmares of darkness and insanity. His hand reached out for the handle of the door and pulled, as he dragged himself and the girl into whatever lay behind it.

The door did not open as he'd expected. It disintegrated at his touch, and both he and the girl fell through the portal and landed with a soft "thump" onto a hard wooden ground. Sunlight was streaming in from a window to their right and in front of them, and the room was quiet and slightly dusty. There was a small, one-person bed in the corner behind them, and a wooden desk against the wall against the window.

The desk had nothing on it except for an inkstand with no quill, and what looked to be sheets of paper with writing on it. If anyone tried to look, though, the writing seemed to move and shift and would not hold in place to be read. There was a small wood chair in front of the desk as well, seemingly older than the desk itself if the worn seat was any indication. There was a small door to the right of the bed behind them, slightly ajar.

Jorin's jaw dropped slightly. He knew this place. It was his childhood bedroom. How could he be here? This was in Zeltiva, many hundreds of miles away. It was impossible... he turned to the girl, eyes full of confusion. Come to think of it, what was she doing here?

"Who are you...?" he asked, wonderingly. Then, as though suddenly realizing he still had a grip on her hand, he released her with an apologetic smile. Sorry about that..." he apologized.

Save opened her mouth to respond and this time sound actually came out. But to her biggest surprise, she had no lisp.

"My name...is Save`. What's your's? And where are we?" She surveyed the room. It was so empty except for the few items laying about. Save felt warmer than normal. Almost human. She realized she was blushing. Well....that was new. How did she get her? The air around them almost seemed to crackle with electricity. Clouds danced low outside. There was no other sound besides their breathing. It was so warm she could almost fall asleep in the sunlight spilling through the window. Save` gravitated towards it. As she looked out, she noticed her own reflection but something was different. She saw herself, but she had full length fangs and serpentine eyes.

What the petch?

The power of speech, which for an indeterminate period of time seemed to have vanished, had suddenly returned. While Jorin was quite grateful for this, he was also highly confused. Why had it disappeared to begin with? What had happened? These were all questions that he really couldn't answer. And for some reason, despite the sheer horror of what he'd just witnessed, he hadn't thought any of it strange at all.

The girl facing him had serpentine features. She had slitted eyes and fangs, but otherwise appeared relatively human and the voice that came from her was perfectly normal for a girl her age. She was shorter than most, and Jorin noticed that she blushed and seemed attracted to the warmth of the sun streaming in from the window.

Under normal circumstances, Jorin likely would have been terrified. He'd never seen someone with teeth and eyes like hers before. But once again it just didn't register in his mind to be frightened. In fact, everything seemed normal, as though he met girls with fangs and serpentine eyes all the time. He noted the unusual appearance with almost detached interest, and blinked as she said her name. Save'. An interesting name.

Jorin glanced about and replied. "Hello Save'," he said, blinking several times. "My name is Jorin Ertihan. And uh, well, it looks like this is my childhood bedroom. In Zeltiva," he added, looking around curiously. Normally he'd wonder how they could have ended up here but that wasn't the thought that first appeared in his mind. Instead, his first thought was a near-overwhelming urge to go outside.

That 'copy' of himself was still out there. And for some reason Jorin couldn't explain, he knew that catching him was very important. Why was it so important? He had no idea, but something told him he needed to do it.

"You, umm, haven't seen a copy of me running around, have you?" he asked, a slight blush tinging his cheeks as he did so. It wasn't something he normally asked other people, and if he'd been logical he'd probably smack himself. What sort of logic would conclude that Save' had seen anything? Still, he thought it was best to at least ask.

"Come on, let's see if the rest of the house is here," he suggested, indicating the door. The... the door. What door. Jorin's face blanched as he realized the door was gone. It had been there just a tick ago! He saw it! It was his room, he knew there was a door there! For some reason he couldn't explain, Jorin started to panic.

He could feel the emotion well up in his chest as he glanced around desperately. Blackened nightmares from the Void skittering out of the darkness did not frighten him to the degree that the knowledge that the door was just gone did. Somehow, the subtle twisting of an otherwise familiar room was becoming increasingly creepy and terrifying. Was the desk always against that window? Was there ever a dresser there?

Turning to Save', Jorin tried hard to fight down the panic. In his head, there was only one phrase that repeated over and over. There's no way out. There's no way out. There's no way out! Jorin took a few deep breaths to try to calm himself. He needed to stay calm. "We need to go through the wall," he said.

It was nonsense. Go through the wall? But for some reason, the twisted logic of the place seemed to indicate that it was possible to do that. But somehow Jorin knew that if he and Save' went through the wall, they might not find themselves where they expected to be.

OOC :
Sorry this was so late! If you were wondering why Jorin isn't recoiling with horror or anything, it's because it's a dream :). Typically (at least for me OOCly), whenever I have a dream, no matter how weird it is, I don't tend to question the dream-logic while I'm actually in the dream. So while outside the dream, Jorin might be a little creeped out by Save's appearance, in-dream it just seems normal to him.

Now 'going through the wall' basically means that the wall could be traveled through, ghost-like. If you want, I give you permission to take over some of the storytelling in this dream, as I implied that should they walk through the wall they could end up somewhere else entirely (i.e. into Save's dream instead). If you wish to do that, I'd love to see what her dreams look like ;).
