Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

AV 513, 32nd Fall
Vyctoria's Conservatory

Syna was up high in the sky, some clouds were wandering before her. The weather was pleasurable, there were only little winds. The trees' leaves are started to change their color, to yellow, red and orange. These leaves fell down also from the tree. It was a beautiful sight, everything was preparing for the winter. At Conservatory's maze, a pale lady was working. She had a shovel next to her and a basket of bulbs.

It was Eida, in her symenestra form. She had a good day at the Conservatory as usual. She could be outside from Riverfall that way and do something useful. She didn't mind being alone, she didn't feel that way. She was trying to listen to the plants which were around her like Caelum said to her to listen to the world. But knowing plants and gardening was two different things.

Even though she knew a few things about them, do that in work was different even though a good experience. She had some advantages to have some knowledge but she had way more to learn. She found a good place to plant the flower bulbs. A spot where the Sun could reach them. She grabbed the shovel and started to dig. It was a tough job, she needed some strength. She was digging hard, when she saw she dig enough hole for the bulbs.

She started to place them in the hole when Ailodes was yelling to her and quickly came to Eida. "Wait..Wait Eida! No,nonono!" The symenestra looked back with confusion. "Wait, wait! First, don't plant them too close, but also don't too far. They look nice together, when they will start blooming." She started and took the bulbs out. "Second, plant them with the pointy end up! And dig little bigger hole! That's all. If you need me, you know where you can find me. Work hard!" Eida nodded and Ailodes left. She was quick but informative. Eida was amazed, how much passionate Ail had for this work. But she could understand, she loved it too. So she grabbed the shovel again and dig up more dirt from the ground.

It took some time and energy, but she could finally plant them. She was now checking to place them the pointy end up. She was thinking how much distance shall she leave for them. She used bulbs as a size of distance. She thought "two bulbs distance" will be enough but not too much. She was silently working and having fun, but somebody came.

Season of Fall, Day 32, 513 AV

When Jorin had first bought the condo he shared with Rinya, he'd mostly ignored the small garden the condo had come with. While he appreciated the natural beauty and maintained as best he could, he knew he had next to no knowledge of plants, gardening, or botany, and so that made it difficult for him to more than trim and clean. It was a shame, really, because as a poet and actor he could appreciate the artistic beauty that nature produced. Still, he would rather not destroy something beautiful in his ignorance.

So that was how, earlier that morning, Jorin had hitched a ride to Vyctoria's Conservatory. The journey there had been uneventful, and during the ten or so chimes on the way there, he'd had time to think about what he wanted. Mainly, he just wanted to learn a bit about flowers in general, but he was not entirely interested in reading from the Riverfall library's selection. Jorin had nothing against reading, he was a poet after all, but he found he learned better by doing than by reading.

Jorin was jolted out of his reverie when the horses stopped, and he realized he had arrived. Jorin nodded in gratitude and hopped off the cart, going out back to assist in bringing out the large barrels of supplies that had been carted from the city. It was the payment for his ride: to assist in manual labor in unloading the carts. Jorin was not unwilling to put in some sweat, so he attacked the job with gusto.

After about 45 chimes, the man who had driven the cart told Jorin he could attend to his business, and that Jorin should be in front of the main building by two Bells or he would leave without him. Nodding his head, Jorin entered the conservatory, and an Akalak with a noticeable limp walked over, and asked him what he was there for.

"I was wondering if there were any plants that were easier to grow for a beginner, that I could acquire?"

Horicant simply looked at Jorin for a moment, then replied that they were a conservatory, not a school. Jorin nodded quietly, and asked if perhaps he could look around for a bit then. Horicant thought for a moment, then nodded, only warning Jorin to not touch anything, and that the individual laboratories were off-limits. Nodding, Jorin continued down the river rock path, taking in the ethereal beauty of the plants that dotted and lined this walkway.

"Caught in the river of blue and green
Lost in the lake of things unseen

Far in the sky of white and gold
In sights unseen and tales untold

Here on Caiyha's steps has brought
Beauty that man had not wrought

Green and blue and gold and red
Drift upon the river's bed

Brought to rest in Fall at last
Tying together the future's past..."

As Jorin's voice trailed, he reached the end of the path, and saw a pale woman planting what looked like bulbs in the soft, loamy earth. She was the first other person he'd met since he had arrived, besides the Akalak receptionist, so he approached her with his usual wide and friendly smile.

"Hello!" he greeted her warmly, "I don't suppose you know of any plants that would be good for a beginner like me? Something that's decently hardy and looks nice, maybe?"

She placed the bulb when a voice talked to her. She thought she is going to be alone as always. She was not ready for it. But it was her job afterall. She stood up and was still showing her back to him. It took only a little time for her face to "prepare" for it. She turned around and showed a slight smile too.

"Hello!" He greeted as well."I'm Eida, daughter of Leth. Beginner? Well hmm..." She was thinking and her face became more serious. After all she was a beginner at gardening too, even though she had an advantages by knowing plants. Her botany knowledge could help lot. "Well first what do you want?"

Before she continued she hide her hand behind her back. Eida didn't want him to see the black nails, it would just made it worse. After all this time it was still awkward for her and it was STILL irritating her. She noticed in her symenestra form she often became wilder and she let it.

She looked at his face more. He was quite a good looking guy. But she quickly ended the check him and picked up one of the bulb. "Would you like to have garden for foods or pretty flowers like this? You like tulips?"

Season of Fall, Day 32, 513 AV

Jorin started a bit when he noticed the pale skin of the woman, who introduced her self as "Eida, daughter of Leth". Leth? As in the moon god? Jorin was quite confused. Half-gods, at least from the little he picked up on theology in Zeltiva, were known as Alvina, and were beings of immense power in their own right. If this Eida was an Alvina, why was she here, planting flowers?

When she asked what he wanted, Jorin's face fell a bit. He didn't know what he wanted, to be perfectly honest, that was part of the problem. He just knew he was supposed to maintain the tiny garden he and Rinya shared, and Rinya was often too busy with her job to have time to do it. Jorin didn't mind the work, but he had no clue when it came to gardening or plants.

"I-I'm not sure," he confessed, with a slight wince at his acknowledgement of his own lack of knowledge. He shrugged helplessly, as he stepped forward a bit.

For whatever reason the woman, Eida, was hiding her hands behind her back. Jorin did not know why she would do that, but before he could ask her, she continued, asking him if he wanted a garden for foodstuffs or if he'd just wanted pretty flowers. Jorin shrugged again. "Well, I'm currently living at the Windswept Condos," he tried, and hoped that would provide at least some explanation. "They provide you with a small garden to maintain... but I don't know anything about gardening or plants. I guess I'd like some foodstuffs too, but I figured I'd start with plants that I'm least likely to kill with my lack of training. Are tulips easy to care for?"

She could see that the man was unsure what he really wanted exactly. And she was right, he told her also. It would be hard if he didn't, but before Eida could answer or suggest anything, he had finally showed some interest for the flowers. When Jorin explained his situation, Eida couldn't help but smile.

"Yes, they are. You know, I'll be honest with you I don't know gardening either." She started. Also with one her hand she scratched her neck, because it felt itchy. When she realized what she stopped it right away. It felt still itchy, itchier than before she stopped herself and continue."Erm... so but I have some knowledge about plants so I'm more than happy to learn about gardening."

She kneeled down for one of the bulb and picked up. Then she stood up and she was showing to Jorin. She was nervous now, because she was not sure if she will scare him away or not "A-and... So what I wanted to tell with that is that I know it looks hard and complicated for first but it's really not. Gardening is really about fun. So as I said Tulips are easy to care of."

She step aside from his sight, so he could check that she was working on it currently. "So...As you can see I'm doing it too. When you bought them, obviously you need to dig a hole to plant it. Then you placed them. As I was told plant them together but leave some places. It's true they looks together." She was imagining the spring time, when flowers starts to bloom. The scents and the sights were always magical for her. After the daydreaming she shook her head. "Sorry so yeah. The pointy end should be up. Also make sure nothing will cast shadow on them. Flowers and other plants like the sun! "

She turned around and continued her work. She realized while she was explaining she could do her work done. But then she had an idea and waved her hand for Jorin to join. "Come, help me! We need to sprinkle back the soil. "
