The vast mountain range of Kalea is home of secret valleys, dead-end canyons, and passes that lead to places long forgotten or yet to be discovered.

The Whispers

Tall conifers, that seem to constantly move in some unfelt breeze, allow light to stream into an otherwise dim place. A conifer grove with almost sacred status, the Whispers is a popular place for those who want to spend time in silent contemplation if you can reach it. The grove is given a wide berth by hunters while out hunting because they don't consider it proper to kill in this area, while worshippers of Caiyha often frequent this place in the hopes of hearing a message from the goddess in the whispering of the trees.

The constant sound of whispering, which gives the grove its name, are commonly thought to be a chance to learn from nature and the nature goddess as the sound can be heard even when there is no breeze. The trees are supposed to whisper secrets to each other and anyone who cares to listen can learn new things about the world around them and even about themselves. There are those who have slept in the grove who claim to have their dreams influenced as well in the form of visions.

In desperate times, usually coming up to the winter months, there are some who would brave the journey to this peaceful grove in order to receive blessings or help from the goddess when food is scarce. There are many hunters who claim to have had a bit of good fortune in the form of large prey like elk and deer that they've pursued from the place but whether that’s true or not is uncertain.

Accessibility: This grove is 2 miles east of Wind Reach. It can be difficult to get to this grove as a bit of mountaineeringAt least 26XP skill is required to navigate the difficult terrain. It is usually possible for hunters and those who make regular trips outside of Mt. Skyinarta to reach this grove. The terrain leading up to the grove is steep and hazardous to the casual mountaineer because of the amounts of loose scree that could lead to injury or death if one isn’t cautious enough.

Relevance to WR: This place has some significance to the Inarta as it is a place that they treat with a sort of grudging respect, seeing it as a stronghold for the goddess Caiyha who granted them their majestic Wind Eagles. The grove is also a place to get some peace, quiet and a bit of fresh air from the sometimes oppressive tunnels of the city.

NPC's: A Witch by the name of Avilsa inhabits the grove though she tends to hide away from the Inarta as she isn’t trusted. Only those who are like her in their love of nature and Caiyha are likely to see her at all.

Avilsa Certane
ImageName: Avilsa Certane
Race: Human
DoB: Unknown but those who have seen her claim that she appears to be in her early 20s so sometime prior to 493AV
PoB: Unknown, possibly Lhavit.
Title: Phylonurist
Skills: Wilderness Survival-76/100, Mountaineering-62/100, Morphing-56/100, Shielding-45/100, Herbalism 36/100
Gnosis: 1M Phylonura

Little is known about this pale witch as she likes to keep to herself. She sees to the area surrounding the Whispers which seems to have healed best from the Djed Storm of 512AV, no doubt because of her influence. It is thought that some of the creatures seen in this area by hunters are in fact Avilsa in her morphed form though nothing has ever been confirmed. Those who have come across the witch have found her to be quiet and thoughtful but wary of any outsiders.

Dangers: There is no real danger in this area as for some strange reason, predators avoid this area, making it a sanctuary for their prey and the Inarta alike. However, those journeying to the grove are still in danger of attack and tragedy can befall those who do not remember the danger that the mountain itself poses.

Note: Some Moderation required. Those wishing to interact with the Witch must have approval.
