Apartment 9, Travelers' Row

Apartment 9 was situated on the acclaimed Travelers Row, just 3 doors down from the main office. It was a rather large apartment, even for the standards of two room apartments. Though, that's where it's advantages end. The whitewashed wall were stained with a green ooze substance and most of the furniture was broken. The apartment was definitely a fixer-upper, but it was Syfec's home.

Armed with 4 buckets and a large sack from the market, Syfec arrived back at his apartment, ready to get to work on making this place just a little more like a home. He surveyed the green ooze on the walls and let out a shudder. He had no desire to clean up this mystery mess at all, but he already agreed so it was moot. With one more grimace, he donned his leather gloves and got to work.

The first order of business was to get the green liquid off of the walls. He scraped a particularly thick deposit of the dried fluid into the bucket. Upon scratching the surface, a horrible smell, that seemed to be a mixture of burnt hair and wet dog , was emitted into the air. Nearing losing his lunch, Syfec took a few steps back from the wall. Recomposing himself, he shook his head. Luckily, there was only a few other place where the ooze was thick enough to be scraped. The rest was just stains. He finished that leg as quickly as he could and then poured to buckets of ooze into a sewer drain.

The next leg of his clean up journey would probably be the easiest. It would also give him a much needed chance to get out of his ugly apartment. All he had to do was pick of the debris from the broken furniture and get rid of it somehow. An idea dawned on him as he was putting the wood shards into his back that he needn't waste all of this wood. After all, his apartment did have a fireplace, and he would need firewood in the near future. So he used his blade and a block of wood to rend and tear at the broken furniture, building himself a nice little pile of firewood. The remainder of the wood he would transfer to a nearby alley, abandoning it for whomever would take it.

Now came the last part of his renovations for the day, the painting. Key in hand, he visited the chest of painting supplies that Matilda had stashed in the office. Taking a bucket down, he grabbed some brush, threw them into his sack and started mixing tints to create the perfect color. He only wanted something simple, a medium gray. He started by making the regular white-wash, and then adding bits of black tint until he reach the color he wanted.

Then, brushes and paint in hand, he returned to his apartment and started work on his main task. He started with short brushes, lapping on the paint thick, but quickly realized that this led to an ugly, uneven look. Thus, he kept with getting lots of paint on the brush, but took his time with long, wider strokes. Finally he used a dry brush to even out the areas that he messed up earlier in the day.

It wasn't too long until his paint was getting low, so before it was completely empty, he headed back down to the painting cabinet. He brought a clean bucket to make his next batch in, using the little of the first bucket as comparison while he added black tint in the second. It was hours and many buckets later until he had finished up both rooms. It was dark by then, and Syfec was just about ready to collapse. He had envisioned a black, horizontal stripe going through the entire apartment, but he was just too tired for that today.
