Just A Little More

10th Of Fall 513 AV

Like just about every other day Morvale found himself in his dormitory that little cubicle he called his home.

As he drew in flux energy he could feel the hairs on his neck stand to attention as if he touched something staticky. As he concentrated his energy he could feel the erratic sensation across the matrix of his nerve fibers before releasing the energy in a foot movement that was like greased lightning, his muscles did not tense as the energy surged through his tendons. It was like he synchronized himself and harnessed something like his soul, as if there was a source or portion of metaphysical energy he seemed to tap into and harness.

This was the flux, each step was dizzying as he moved his feet surging the energy back and forth as if bouncing a ball. He paused in his steps attempting to redirect momentum, as his feet skirted the floor in momentary lapses as he found this sensation both frightening and utterly satisfying.

He could move like none other as he channeled the energy to jump from leg to leg.

He paused himself and let this shadow within himself balance out re calibrating itself back to a state of normalcy. Only competent he was not comfortable surging energy back and forth from top to bottom repeatedly. Such irresponsible maneuvers could cause a loss of control and cause this inner self to break through its shell that consisted of his flesh and bones . As this inner self found its balance he once again found himself drawing from this state of radiance.

He unsheathed his dagger and that surged the flux through his arm, he could feel it from pump through his legs adjacent arm from his back stomach and chest in a blindingly fast whoosh as the dagger snapped forward in a thrust as if it had been launched from a crossbow. His acrobatic flexibility ensured he wouldn't over extend his reach and inadvertently tear his muscle ligaments.

He relaxed and drew breath, allowing this watery glow to settle back down in the chalice that was himself. He was cup and the flux his water, too much to fast and the water would splash out. A disastrous affair that would certainly shatter him to pieces.

Just A Little More

By now sweat beaded off his forehead as he steadied his breathing, the amount of energy he expended was starting to tax him physically. Such bursts of agility and reflex seemed to also come with a price. Pay a little now and slow down, or risk an injury and pay alot down the road. That was a key point he needed to focus on as he heeded his own advice and slowed down so that he could catch his breath.

But the more he drove out the flux from within him, the wilder his mind would race. He felt dizzy from the rush of adrenaline that kicked through his veins, he felt great his body said no but his mind said yes.

He had to fight it, the overwhelming assurance from lulling whispers that spoke gently in his ears. They said sweet things, the promise of power, that he would steal the show, that no other sorcerer could match his prowess. He was different special unique, that stopping would prevent him from reaching his goals.

Morvale grit his teeth and say back down in his bed as he waged a fight against the audible ear candy that told him otherwise. As he applied the very basic technique of self control.

As he lay in his bed he could feel his body start to tremble, anxious to synchronize itself with his astral self trying to connect again through bone and sinew.

That was enough for tonight he relaxed, he found peace of mind and breathed.

Nothing was free, he learned a lesson a valuable one about pacing himself.

He had done this multiple times throughout the week why now he thought.

Morvale closed his eyes as he felt the frightening sensation wash over him then fade away like some twisted addiction. As time passed the psychological and physical torment would fade. And as it did he rolled out of the stone slab he called a bed he looked at the ground his heart thumping fiercely as stared at the floor. He'd recalled many practice sessions more then usual now that he was on the island. And maybe just maybe no matter how safely or securely you practiced magic, there was always a chance that something might happen.

He knew he shouldn't have provoked it,

He began taking time to stretch himself out, he worked on his legs first to work on his calfs and ankles slowly working his way out to his thighs as he used his hands to assist him. He twisted to the left and to the right working on his torso as he reached for the ceiling to stretch out his arms and back. He rolled his head around to work out the kinks in his neck and shoulders and last but not least he grabbed hold of his fingers and pushed back working out his wrist.

These strict stretching regiments of acrobatics he incorporated into his usage of flux to enhance its effect as a loose body could flow much easier.

But now it was time to stop with the flux, he'd been pushing himself endlessly since he got on the island and now he knew what happened when you danced on the razors edge.
