The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Location: Just inside the Knotted Gates
Purpose: Looking for trouble in The Sea of Grass
Admittance: Open to anyone in the area

Etaria stretched and rolled out of her packed straw bed. The sun had long since passed into the horizon and now hung in the sky nearing it's high noon peak. The shouts and laughs of the traders cluttered the air. She loved the beautiful sound of Pavi mixing with the clumsy common tongues, Dryka and Sylirian accents creating a unique symphony.

Etaria's limbs were still sore from a long weeks ride but that wouldn't be enough to keep her from riding out so soon. She threw back the flap of her small tent and squinted into the noon sun. Aamina stood drinking from her trough next to the tent. Her ears were alert and her eyes bright and eager. Both horse and rider were ready to begin a new chase.

Etaria slung her latest kill over the back of her mare and walked further into the mobile city. With all the merchants around she was sure to find someone interested in wool and fresh meat in exchange for a couple quiver full of arrows.

The day was still young. Perhaps she would pick up more than just arrows, perhaps a new hunting companion as well.

Two days since Koray had made his way back from yet another expedition, and still he hadn't quite gotten to see everyone. He'd lost a day catching up with two of his pavilion’s other hunters, trading stories and tales of whatever it was that had happened lately and was worth the recounting, from incidents back at the camp or what they’d last seen or killed on the Sea of Grass. Then it’d been getting roped into helping with the cats, which he hadn’t minded but had still eaten up quite some time.

Now though, after the long quiet stretch of near-silence on the plains, the bustle was just a little overwhelming, and he’d strayed away from the Emerald clan’s tents to move on to the trading area and taken Sanem and equipment with him, with a vague plan to renew some of his supplies and perhaps go out for a short little jaunt in Endrykas’ surroundings, just a break before coming back. Sanem needed the run anyway: the mare was nervous and jittery, ears flicking at the first loud sound. “Not much longer,” he told her, and spurred her on, a measured walk through the tiny trickle of both mounted and footed passersby.

Red. Here were the stalls of the Ruby clan crafters. He distractedly thumbed his bow’s worn grip, quickly eyed his quiver and how much arrows he had left. Enough, for now, though perhaps he should stop here again in a day or so. Couldn’t hurt, at the very least.

Later. His hand on Sanem’s neck soothed her, though she looked like she wanted nothing more than to be out and running. She wasn’t the only one: the breeze that was winding from the open was twisting the loose strands of his hair and calling to him.

One had to get out first, though, and so he reined himself in, instead looking at the people they passed. The young woman with a semi-fresh kill on her mare caught his eye, and he grinned as he passed by her. “Nice catch!”

"Why thank you" She smiled back. She dragged the carcass off of her horse and placed it on the table of a ruby colored tent. She was about to let the man walk by but something tugged at her, caused her to open her mouth.

"You wouldn't happen to be looking to head out shortly would you? Take a ride on the open plains?"

Any response he might of had was interrupted by the trader. He was good on wool but he would gladly take all of the meat for a quiver and a half of arrows. A done deal. She stripped the kill of its pelt and handed the rest over to the trader.

She rolled the pelt up and tied it with a small piece of leather.

"So what do you say? Looking for a little adventure?"

"Bah, next time I get stabbed or slashed or cut or something, I'll request it's somewhere that doesn't hurt when I walk," Kayiri grumbled to himself, seated on the grassy ground away from the hubbub of traders, fingering his scabbed-over wound on his left side. A stupid motion, one the healer had advised him against, but really, since when did he listen to healers? With yet another mumble of inconvenience and pain, he made his way up to his feet, beginning his walk to no where in particular once more.

Or at least, it was to no where until his experiences against his spear-wielding foe had informed him that he needed a shield. Badly. He also needed to adjust his fighting style to compensate for one. It would help prevent more bloody wounds, especially from little people with spears.

His once-pointless walk had found a point. He turned his way through the twisting streets to a shield-maker.. person. Yeah. Greeting the man warmly, he was out and about around thirty minutes later, his purse nine mizas lighter, but a nice layered, resin dipped, Drykas-leather large shield strapped over his back. Proud, he decided he would purchase training in it's use later.

Then, something else caught his eye. An armor stall. Looking at the scar on his arm, he decided that was a good investment too, but for later.

Ah! but he did need a new quiver now, considering his back-mounted one would no longer work with his shield there. He would have to buy one that sat on the small of his back, still under the shield, but wearable. He stopped in the trader's store, buying it for (insert price here, place holder until I talk to the DS).

On his way out, he heard a woman talking with a man about adventure. Hm. It had been a long time since he had left the settlement for anything important. If it was a short trip, maybe he could ask to accompany her...

“Something like that, yes.” As she turned, Sanem stilled, sensing that patience was required for a little longer, and settled for pawing at the packed dirt of what passed for the street and stretching her neck to get a better look at the other mare. Koray looked on as the woman proceeded on with her dealings with the merchant, the way she cut the skin off her skill and handled it, feeling like there was more coming.

There was. He nodded, eyeing the arrows she’d just traded for. It was always interesting to ride along other hunters, and it had been a while since he’d done so with non-pavilion members. Best case he’d find a new partner in the hunt, worst case he’d lose a few hours. And, at the very least, it might give him some direction and purpose other than just ‘go out for a run and shoot the first thing that runs by and is edible down’.

“You got anything in mind? I’m afraid my own plans involved nothing more than a quick run, with a possibility of bringing down a bit of small game, so.” He shrugged, smiled. “As long as Sanem here gets to stretch her legs a bit, I’m game.”

Movement close by drew his eye, and his gaze quickly flicked over to the man that walked out of one of the shops for a brief, summary look before it came back to the woman, main source of interest right now.
