Time Stamp 81st Fall Early Morning Bells,

The morning was starting out pleasant enough, the normal bustle of the city as the Drykas began to break down their pavilions and tents, their stalls and markets abounding all around her. Just a few turns of Leth past this would have seemed absurd thing to do to the Red headed captive from Syliras, but now Taylani moves with easy around the tent poles laid aside to be bundled onto a wagon for carrying. Such is the life of the Drykas, always on the move, never keeping their striders or horses in one place too long.

Taylani moves along the southern edge of the camp, simply walking to gain exercise before she must return and help with Fallan's familial pavilion and packing. The Amethyst clan didn't have as much as other clans perhaps because they chose to specialize in things that did not take much materials. Horses, and leather working mostly, so Taylani had a little bit of free time in the morning after breakfast.

Now that she was refusing to practice her dance, to save her self the mental anguish of what was lost, she gets her exercise in by walking..a large amount of the time. Drykas gave her odd looks for who would choose to walk when there were perfectly magnificent horses nearby? However it kept Taylani's body in shape even if she was just beginning to lose the extreme tone that had defined her musculature thanks to dance. In about seven to eight months from now Taylani figured she wouldn't be up to such long walks, and her body will definitely be changed drastically but until then she did what she could.

Her red hair was braided again, this time Fallan's sister Adelia helped her so it didn't look messy or inept. Swept back at the temples twin tiny braids meet in the back to braid down her neck, joined by three other twin tiny braids until her entire hair was braided down her back, with four rows of tiny braids on the side of her head. There were even two glass Amethyst colored beads nestled, one at the nape of her neck and one a her crown. She looked in the reflection of the water barrel and was almost dismayed to see a Drykas looking woman staring back. Her clothing was even Drykas, green linen breeches with a lavendar blouse that dipped low enough to expose just the tops of her bosom, though even that had made her self-conscious the first couple days of wearing them.

Now that the storms have blown through, and the grasses drying, the last of the rain finally finished not many bells past, Taylani took the time to look out into the grasses. She was looking south, not north, but still the expanse of the land was terrifying at times, for someone who was so used to protective walls. But now that Fallan had got a child upon her, she would have to learn to live without the walls. If she was to be apart of her and Fallan's child's life then she would have to forgo his promise of taking her back to Syliras once she weaned two children from her breast for him.

A sigh is given, but its not as sorrowful as she had thought it would be. In the distance she saw striders with Drykas, perhaps some of the Watch had guided someone through the southern sea to Endrykas. Taylani stopped her walk to watch as the riders grew closer.

It was a harsh ride, across blistering sands, each bat of wind a lash across his back not sending him down in submission but bidding him to rise with each new sun stronger to follow the ever present raven above. Though ever present this bird was not, while the raven had often lingered near the Chaktawe's camp while he slept always flying off while he rose, one night it had simply vanished, it's ebony feather masked by the sheet of night.

Without the bird's guidance, Kinoche merely rode on, it's last course taking him deep into the dunes, then into thick scrub of scraggly plants clinging to a life rooted in hardship. Now the Chaktawe found himself out of his element, his tan skin clashing with the vibrant green of the fields and orange and yellow of the large bushes that bore many leaves. There was no sudden edge to this world, but a gradual descent, thus when Kinoche at last began to notice this bizarre change it was already too late, his home, his desert was gone and now there was only the faint shadow of the raven's trail, a trail based on faith, the instinct that Eywaat was still with him, guiding his path.

It had been five days since he had last drank, not too harsh for a Chaktawe nor Kinoche's fine desertbred horse Dune, still his skin was found dry and wanting from his time in the desert, thus yesterdays ride was truly something to behold. He rode amisdt the claps of the heavens and the descent of great water from the sky, a miracle he had only heard of in stories and once had privy to see from afar, he was told this was a sign of the gods anger so in great fear he found a large rock and hid beneath it with dune, his body shaking in fear of divine justice. None came however and awaking on that morn he found no greater peace than that days ride, Dune's clodding footsteps the only sound which softly reverberated and sloshed in the puddles of water left behind.

Then Kinoche found the oasis, an oasis bigger than any he had ever seen it spread past his vision and afar he saw a man standing on a log with a stick, Kinoche waved to this man as he dipped his hands into the water and cupping it began to drink deeply, finding this continual cupping tedious he dove his head into the water and began drinking in great gulps and gasps, coming up only when he lungs demanded it. Dune followed his actions and soon the two rested upon the simple field having taken in their fill of the clear cold water. Looking out Kinoche saw the man's stick was shaking and he suddenly pulled with great force to uncover a wriggling mass of some kind, approaching the shore he strained his eyes, but could not see what this mass was, then looking down he noted his own reflection in the crisp water. He was haggard from his ride, his hair unkempt and his outfit riddled with sand he had yet to shake off. Then his reflection was broken by ripples, looking further he noted a silvery creature lingering in the water, it had scales and shook as it seemed to glide, blinking he noted this oddity, but thought no more of it as his hands began to tingle.

Movement, unlike the still waters this was more violent yet tempered and controlled. It was not long before the Chaktawe found the cause as the water began to ripple anew as a host of men on horseback began to roar across the plains swiftly surrounding Kinoche. They simply stared at him for a moment then one spoke, though what he said the Chaktawe did not know, in response Kinoche tried to say,

"What" in the tongue of his people yet the tattooed men on horses showed similar confusion as he had. Eventually one said something in common and the Chaktawe blinked in recognition before speaking,

"Hello, I am Kinoche," he said making sure to pronounce his words as his mother did in the market when working with the peoples who came from the great water.

The men stared at Kinoche for a while and then pointed to his horse before saying,

"Ride,"

With that Kinoche got upon his desertbred and rode with the men. Holding to his saddle he noted many riders were bareback and rode with such speed and efficiency, the desert tribesman was in awe. Swiftly he tried to emulate them and with reason as he was slowly being left behind. Leaning deep into his horses neck he began to feel the pace of the group, noting it's shift in tone as the speeds changed, the timing of hoof beats clattering and shifting with new terrain and sharp turns. Still the inexperienced Chaktawe found himself nearly losing the riders when they suddenly stopped allowing Kinoche to catch up and his horse to catch it's breath, the beast of burden hot and slick with effort. Looking upon the men he looked up to see a small blip in the sky, black and circling. Looking down again and smiled. Perhaps this was home.

"What is this place?" he asked the stone faced riders

"Endrykas," one said simply before many rode slowly into the bustling town.

Soaking this word in and what it meant, the Chaktawe dismounted and began to take his saddle off his exhausted horse making sure to produce some of his paltry rations to feed the overtaxed beast, when that was completed Kinoche looked about to see none of the riders who had led him here were present any longer, the Chaktawe found this odd, though odder still that they welcomed him, outsiders in his tribe were avoided or worse killed, yet he seemed at least somewhat welcomed.

Looking around confused, the tribesmen wondered now that he was here, what was he to do.

Taylani watched as the members of the watch escorted another from within the Sea of Grasses to the entrance of Endrykas where all foreigners were taken. The stranger looked to be of the same kin as Oryani, another member of Drykas watch with the pitch black eyes and the dark coloring of the desert people. The red head tosses her head, forgetting that her hair was now braided in Drykas fashion and had no need to be tamed and shoved back over her shoulder. Some habits were harder to break then others.

She doesn't claim to understand the watch but she has learned in her time within the Tent City that typically they allowed men who wandered into the Seas to either remain lost and die, or manage to find their way out on their own. They only interfered if the person posed a danger to the Drykas or if they had business in Endrykas....women and children were different as she so bitterly knew. They were taken as captives and 'integrated' as what can only be described as concubines to give whoever paid for their upkeep children, or to fill out the families who lost many to pox.

Mere weeks before Taylani would have burned with rage, now it was just numbness and acceptance of her new fate. Destined perhaps to never feel true rage or hatred again..but the flip side would to be vacant of joy and love as well. That thought was too introspective for today, and it bothered some of the numbness that she was cultivating around her heart. One hand fell to rest flat against her still-flat belly, a protective gesture that she didn't even realize she did, before she moved forward inquisitively.

"Good morning." She says in common, then she added "Good Morning" In Pavi. Not sure which of the two languages, if any, that the stranger understood. If the watch had brought him, then he definitely was not Drykas who could see the web and find the city via that route. Her pavi was poor, her hand gestures of the language halting and unsure and her pronunciation atrocious she was sure but she had to try. Once more in common she asks, "Do you speak Common or Pavi?" She then attempted to ask again in Pavi, though with her poor skills in the language of the Drykas it was garbled "Speak Pavi you?"

Gripping the reigns of his horse Dune, Kinoche walked amongst the many individuals who all seemed to be quite busy moving here and about, many above him in mass groups of riders issuing out orders to those upon the ground. No one seemed able to help the Chaktawe as all had more pressing concerns, but for the moment the tribesman was content to simply watch this mass work unfold. Truly he had never seen so many people in one place, his tribe a paltry few compared to the vastness of this collective, Kinoche did not know why, but his knees shook at the sight of these horses and the fearsome men who rode them.

Gripping his hands, on upon the reign of his horse, he began to back away from a particularly active riding trail and as he moved on he heard a woman's voice that seemed to be aimed at him, bidding him good morning. He turned and beheld a red headed woman who seemed every way the opposite of the weary traveler, well kept and confident in her place among these people, if not a little distant.

She spoke another set of words in a tongue he knew not though he had heard the first word before on the ride. His ears perked as his addled mind tried to remember the context to no avail, he feared he had missed something vital in this loss of translation, however that was when she asked if he spoke common or Pavi. He did not know what Pavi was, but as she went to say something about Pavi again in a tongue he knew not, Kinoche figured it was the first tongue, common, that he knew,

"I speak common," he said simply "Though my people call it trade tongue," he added truthfully, remembering the days learning this speak in the markets with the Benshira, the tension high as the Chaktawe often sold the sheep they had stolen from the shepherds back to them.

Remembering custom of his tribe, Kinoche suddenly realized his rudeness in drifting off from this woman to think of other things, shaking his head he spoke once more,

"I am Kinoche, I come from the sands and redstone, who are you?"

The simple questions can have simple answers, who are you? what are you doing? where are you going? but just as often they can touch upon deeper meanings. When Kinoche left his people they asked him simply what he sought and he said

Harmony

That word and a raven brought him here over sand and from the maw of many a worse fate. He had seen fear and now it was hopes time it seemed. Remembering his final companion he pulled his desertbred forward,

"This is Dune," the horse proceeded to move forward and sniff the woman lightly, "He must like you," he said with a smile, relishing in this chance to speak to another after many weeks of hard riding.

Relieved that he spoke Common tongue, Taylani gave the stranger a smile and inclined her head in greeting. He didn't seem as if he was entirely sure as to why he was in Endrykas, perhaps he was here to trade? He didn't have a wagon laden with goods, but who knew perhaps he was here to trade in small items like spice or jewelry.

"I am Taylani." She said simply, tilting her head a little to the side as she looked up at the man on the horse. When his horse chuffed a little and bent it's neck to sniff at her, Taylani reached up to pet the underside of it's jaw letting her fingers curve to scratch the silky flesh of the horse softly. "Dust is certainly friendly enough." Just one season ago she would have pushed away from the horse, but being forced out here amid the horse clans she had found a peace with the animals. Though unlike the Drykas, she did not have the natural-seeming mannerisms around them.

"Would you like to dismount? We can take Dust to the Amethyst clan, that is the clan I stay with. They take care of horses and striders very well." One hand reached up to shade her eyes as she continued to look up at the dark eyed male. "That is if you are not in a hurry to take care of business you have in Endrykas."[/color]
