It seemed that Dinah decided all today was going to be about was riding. No rest for the wicked, or so they said. It was something the squire was used to his patron doing. The woman had a tendency to notice when Orion was improving at something and then locking into that task so he could get as much gain out of it as possible. It was exhausting, but it seemed to work for the squire, too. Dinah hadn't gotten to Captain Knight by being stupid.

They'd worked all morning on agility drills from horseback, moving about in heavy plate while trying to get a horse to change direction quickly, moving around obstacles, and jumping over poles. It was an absolute beast on his joints and he didn't feel under control for even a moment whilst moving about the arena. Yet somehow he had managed to complete the morning training.

Unsurprisingly she called for him to come back that afternoon, which he of course did.

What was surprising, however, happened to be the fact he was told to show up without his armor or weapons. He wouldn't be needing them, she'd informed him before sending him off to grab lunch.

It gave him a sickening feeling in his stomach when the redheaded knight changed anything up. She was dangerous and calculating in her training, especially since they cleared the air with one another. As squire and patron, Orion had thrived. They were not friends, they were not peers, despite the mutual attraction they had both pushed aside. It was a rather odd dynamic, but one they’d both embraced with open arms. Other than the children which seemed be popping up left and right in Orion’s life, things had never been smoother between Dinah and Orion. She was the taskmaster, and he the servant.

When Orion walked into the training arena, Dinah was already there, waiting. A line was attached between her and the horse as she sat there absentmindedly running her hand along the horse’s neck. Both of them seemed rather content with their current situation. Dinah’s red locks were tied back in a ponytail, and she wore clothing appropriate for riding, another one of the rare times Orion saw her out of her armor. He had second thoughts about bothering their peaceful moment, but he knew she’d be more than upset if he skipped out on training, so he approached, waving as she looked up to him.

”Dinah,” he said in greeting.

”Sera Lorene,” she corrected as she’d done a million times. The man was hopeless.

”But of course. Please forgive me, Sera,” deadpanned the squire, bowing as he spoke. Dinah chuckled and shook her head at the blue eyed man. He was impossible to deal with at times. He’d challenged her in ways that her other squires had never imagined to. In fact, the man was such a handful she didn’t dare to take any others under her wing. It was taking every trick, every bit of knowledge and patience she could muster in order to change this womanizing doctor into a virtuous knight.

At the rate things were going, she was going to end up with a womanizing knight, though. It was troublesome indeed, but the it was up to the Windoak to make the final call. All she could do was prepare him for its judgement.

”Hope you’re ready, Orion, because we’re going to have a very painful afternoon. It’s time that you learned how to mount a moving horse.”

”…You’re kidding, right?”

Dinah simply smiled in return. It was his least favorite reply.

”Just wonderful. Color me ecstatic. I suppose I should have worn something with a little more cushioning, huh?”
