Millicent nodded to the theory of speed and power. How is speed different from power? She wondered thinking about how she thought muscles worked. It seemed to her that they where the same thing. Wouldn't speed be stronger muscles and power be stronger muscles?” She left the question unasked as Altaira moved on.

Millicent frowned as words where being thrown around that she did not know. Shrugging, she just watched what Altaira was going. Round Kick, or Straight Kick? She visualized someone spinning in a circle versus charging forward. In both, the kick was little high than the shin. Millicent's mouth moved in a silent “O” as Altaira mentioned the height. Her mental image was shattered.

Nodding, Millicent followed the theory, but had issued visualizing the actual results. The first kick looked awkward to her. It seemed to slow then to fast. Her untrained eyes had trouble following the movement. At the mentioned of being kicked, Millicent bit her lips and gave a short nod. She shifted her body in a fighting stance and weighted.

After being told about the power of this move, Millicent was reluctant to be hit by it, even lightly. Nervously, she looked at Altaira, but then grinned.”No worries, I am as tough as stone.” Millicent flexed her bicep and clenched eyes closed while slowing all of her teeth. She wanted her friend to relax and have fun.

Millicent eyes focused on Altaira's foot, but not the rest of the leg. When it hits look like everything is normal She told herself following the movement with her eyes. Millicent sifted in her stance as the blow hit her leg. It did not really hurt, but she still winced slightly. “See, tough as stone” She said triumphantly grinning at her friend.

“I would like to practice on my own first.” Millicent offered moving away from Altaira. Shifting into her fighting position, Millicent get a few punches. The dirt seemed stable enough to her. Millicent Held her arms out parallel to the ground and spun in a circle. Hitting nothing, she figured that it was fine to try a kick here.

Turning sideways, Millicent's weight shifted to the toward her front foot. Her back foot lifted off the ground and she twisted her hips. Then she was falling forward, and hit the ground head first. Some of her weight had shifted backwards as she picked up her knee causing her to fall off balance. A grimace spread across her face as she pushed herself off the ground. Her eyes narrowed, and shifted back into a fighting position.

Pulling her left knee up, she focused her weight on her right foot. Twisting her body forward at the hips, she brought her leg forward but forgot to stretch our her leg. She continued to pivot forward, in a 180 degree circle. Her right ankle twisted slightly, causing her to swift her balance. Before she knew it, Millicent was on the ground again. An almost feral growl escaped her lips as she stood back up. The punches had come easily, this was not work.

Getting back to her feet, she tried again she end with her on the ground. Talking to her was pointless. All her attention was focused on trying to copy the motion Altaira had so easily done. Her countless falls would not doubt leave some scraps and bruises, but she did not seem to care. After a chime worth of tries, she started to pick herself up off the ground as soon as she hit. It was like she was expecting to fail now. Still she continued for another 4 chimes.

Panting, she took a deep breath and shift so that her left foot was in front. “Rahhh!' Her voiced echoed in the greenhouse as she tried on last kick. It got to her side as she twisted before her left foot slipped in the dirt and she fell off balance . Without thinking, she brought her right leg down, though it to slide on the dirt. Her legs split apart. The muscles in her legs stretched beyond what they were use to and pain to stab through her body.

Tears where starting to form in Millicent's eyes as she looked up Altaira. Then she looked away in shame. “I can't do it” She muttered bitterly, as hot streams rolled down her face. Her hands found her way to her right upper thigh and began to rub it. Her body tensed and relaxed at every stab of pain.

What Does a Mask Hide?(Altaria)

Altaira bit her lip, her stomach dropping as Millicent hit the floor. She took two steps in the younger woman's direction before stopping herself, her dear little friend pulling herself from the floor after her fall. 'Good, she's up.' Her breath left her and ease returned, gaze taking keen note over the other woman's posture, hold, and the dirtied markings and plush pink blotches giving away where she'd hurt herself in the fall. Nothing serious, but nothing that didn't hurt. She bit her tongue in memory of her burn, hoping that it wasn't grazed further in the slip, and coming close to halting the practice to check.

Millicent's luck was worse than Altaira's own, it seemed. Anything done with hands and feet came easier to her, though she struggled with the written word, putting her a little out of depth with any human who lacked a knack for fluid and 'graceful' movements. Which meant she wasn't quite sure how to approach Millicent's particular little issues.

She took another fall, this one due to an early error that rippled and spun out of control. "I can't do it," were her only intelligible words, tears prickling her eyes and wetting her cheeks pain no doubt shot through her. "You're ok," Altaira soothed, only then making her way over to the girl, taking place close by. "You did well - really well," the kelvic could scarcely help herself, maternal instincts hitting full speed, reaching out a gentle hand to smooth the girl's short hair. "I'm quite proud of you. You could have stayed down every time you fell, but you kept getting back up. That's very brave, and determined and admirable"

She took back her hand, then, giving Millicent an encouraging, sweet little smile as she shot a glance at her bruising legs. No more, no more for today nor the rest of the week. "Now, then. I think that's enough for today," she continued, her voice sweet and careful. "I'd rather you stop before you hit your absolute limit, than push yourself to the point that you break." She gave a considerate gesture, one of her cheekier smiles taking form on her lips. "At least not yet."

She shot a short glance towards the store, the look passing Mistress Blackleaf's expression, which was once unreadable to the kelvic, showing that she gave a silent agreement of sorts - though the short head gesture to the store itself hinted that the two women's reasons were vastly different. "Come, I'll make you some tea to help ease the pain - can you stand?"

3rd of Winter

A smile slowly crept across Millicent's face. Sniffling, she rose her sleeve to wipe off her face. Your such a baby She chided herself as she felt a warm feeling growing in her gut. It spread through out her body, even if she felt little ashamed of it. Fighting herself, she tried to keep a straight face, but the corners of her lips kept curving upward. Flinching slightly, she forced her body to hold still as Altaira hand combed through her hair.

The words that her friend said made sense. Taking a deep breath, Millicent tried to take account of all the aches and pains throughout her body. Her arms hurt a little, but nothing major. Her back ached felt a little cramped due to work, and her legs well they hurt a lot at the moment. However Millicent thought that pain would just be fleeting.

Her eyes drifted around the room, but feel on a stern woman with four arms. She did not seem to be that happy with Altaira, though perhaps no upset either. Millicent assumed she much be the owner of shop. “I am sorry for taking Altaira's time. I have never been outside the walls before, so she showed me the your magnificent greenhouse. Then I am probably scare her into thinking I was going to run off to Bronze Woods or something, so she tried to make sure I would not die” Millicent explained. Her first thoughts where to defend her friend, even if this made her look like a fool.

“Yes, I am not that broken.” Millicent answered with her mouth shifting between neutrality and happiness. Her legs protested as she stood, but she tried to keep from wincing. She had forgotten about the burn. Her hand reached out for Altaria's shoulder to use the other woman for support. “Tea sounds good, but I need to head home.”

Bird Speak | Common | Vani | Others | oocAnd here we have a brisk little tie off :P
The Mistress raised an eyebrow at the two, a light sigh leaving her. As long as she's not shirking her responsibilities," she said, and Altaira almost thought that she would be getting off easy. "And stays back to aid in making salves." 'So close,' Altaira gave a girlish grin and a thumbs up to the Mistress, her action earning her a rather 'done' chuckle and a shake of her boss' head, before she pressed off into the bulk of the store.

When Millicent used Altaira as a form of support, her words steadying soon after, the kelvic gave a heavy sigh of relief. "I'll see if I can dress your burn, at least," She murmured, mind more focused on how she would proceed with Millicent. She was worried about her, for reasons that were far and many. From her mask, to her strange, strict little teachings... there was something that was simply wasn't quite right. She lead her to the work room, and did as she promised, all the while her mind shifting from the pointless banter spoken to the odds and ends that weren't adding up. No, she wouldn't ask. She couldn't. If she was to be told, Millicent would be the one to do so. Yes, right. That was what she was going to do. All that was left to was wait, and ensure the younger woman trusted her as much as she did her.

Notes
Nice thread, ladies. Alt, a quick note. You're showing yourself to be a pretty darned good teacher. And unfortunately with your 2XP, that's a bit of a problem. ;) Maybe don't be so smooth with your instruction so you can show your growth as a teacher, just as Millicent grew in reaction to your teaching. Nice back and forth in the thread. Keep up the good work. PM me with questions and please edit your grade request to reflect this thread is graded. :)
